The extra charge of €15 per night is only worth paying for one of the few Bay view rooms with direct access of the terrace. Stayed this week in a Harbour view room and it was basic, cramped and disappointing. Such a vast difference between the size of the two rooms but they were the same price! We felt cheated the second time. Both rooms were clean and the shower water power is excellent.
No tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms but they are still advertised as available on the website - it may seem small but this facility makes a difference.
There should be a voucher system or allowance for residents to get tea/coffee at the bar when this facility has been removed from the rooms.
The location is beautiful and the whole area is clean and well looked after.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
The bar/restaurant was extremely busy and a bit hectic at times: As a resident you feel that you shouldn't have to queue to eat but these are strange times.
Breakfast was very basic and limited but served with a smile.

Stayed here for three nights with my family. Overall we had an enjoyable stay mostly because the weather was great and we hardly spent any time in the hotel Check in was relatively easy but I was astonished when the charged me €25 per night for a 3 year old and on top of that they told me I had to bring my own cot for the 2 year old . Never before have I had to pay for children under 5.

The rooms were ok - my sons room was prob the best with sea views. No air con so very clamy at night. The shower in the room is great and a good sized bathroom

While Breakfast was good the service was very poor. You got toast with no butter. We got fried eggs when we ordered poached. We got orange juice when apple juice was ordered. We constantly had to ask for things. A bit of staff training is needed.

We ate in the bar the first night and it was ok. While I understand that menus are restricted at the moment there could have been a bit more variety on it especially when you are staying 3 nights

As there was no hospitality trays in the room, you could avail of complimentary tea and coffee from the bar.

This hotel is in a fab location with plenty to do around the area

Beautiful location - right at the Pier, beside a lovely little beach.

The young staff that worked in the bar / served food & drinks were very friendly and helpful, even when they were really busy

Room was clean, and comfortable., unfortunately the tv reception wasn't good though. No WIFI in the bedroom either, and hit and miss around the hotel too - it is a rural location though, so to be expected.

No Tea and Coffee making facilities in the room, however residents can get free tea and coffee at the bar at any time, and the coffee is GOOD!

Small pool, but it does the job and it was nice to spend some time swimming in the morning. (you will need a swimming cap!)

Overall a lovely 2 nights stay

A group of five of us had booked into the Pier Head Hotel in Mullaghmore from Sunday 9th August until Tuesday 11th August 2020. Three of the group arrived early on Sunday and decided to order food. One of the group ordered a warm chicken salad which was served at a table outside. As she was eating her meal this lady found a maggot on her plate. Naturally she was horrified and the Manager on duty was consulted. He apologised and offered a free evening meal but understandably no one in our group felt confident about accepting this offer. The duty Manager stated that he would have a thorough investigation and revert to us.
By the following afternoon there was no feedback so the duty Manager was sought out to offer an explanation. He categorically stated that he had spoken to the Head Chef and they were “one hundred per cent sure it did not come from their kitchen”. The discussion was held in the hotel foyer with many other guests trying to find their way past. A professional approach Would have been to invite representatives of our group to a private room to discuss the matter. No formal reports were made available. No complaints form was offered or reassurance of actions to redress any environmental health concerns.

Whilst one hundred euro was deducted from the bill, overall the matter was dealt with with in an unsatisfactory and unprofessional manner by a duty Manager who admitted he had no experience of these matters. The lady in question was distressed by what had taken place, we were all forced to eat elsewhere when we had intended to have our evening meals at the hotel, and it really did result in an extremely disappointing experience . This hotel has a wonderful location in an area of stunning natural beauty but it’s potential is wasted!

From the very start it was not good. My partner, son of 9months and myself booked into the Pier Head Hotel. The lift had about four torn, shabby A4 signs explaining when the busy periods for the very small lift. When the bar was closed (11pm sharp) and check out time. We entered our harbour view room to find it was practically the size of a cupboard the cleaners had, Extremely small basics only! I had asked for the size over view ( small pokey window) four by son who is crawling. They gave me a room I couldn't even fit the buggy in and a step down to the toilet which was very dangerous. I asked to be moved. We ended up in an attic like room alittle bigger and with it the step to the bathroom so was ok. The water pressure in the bathroom was ridiculous! After a afternoon at the beach we could only shower. Not idea l for baby but ok. They also ask you to bring your own towels from room to leisure centre but given we we by a beach and used our towels already this was silly. Reason was because of covid restrictions but other hotels do not have this issue!! Anyway back to that shortly. The room had cracks and the glass mirror was broken also dangerous for the crawling baby. Was dated and dark lighting. Then our room key wouldn't work so all evening if we went out we had to get reception to let us in. She physically had to let us in, leaving down stairs empty or we'd have to wait till she checked others in to let us In. If you want to pay by card by the way she has to leave reception to get card machine in restaurant.. the front by the bar which residents couldn't even sit in ( was closed only for ordering) was filthy out front. It was a busy day but my God no turn over nothing we ended up sitting at the beach hotel tables that in fairness were cleaned every so often. At dinner we felt rushed to leave having booked our meal nice and early. Chef did produce lovely food but we heard that he likes to leave if he can and we just didn't enjoy the atmosphere. Music was Ike something you'd hear in Tesco at 4am and the lights were awful. If you were underneath it was so bright and hot but if not you ate in the dark. I asked for a high chair three times, I got up and got it eventually. No attention to detail. They can't say they don't have staff when there were plenty on that weren't moving. Less staff at breakfast at it was few more people busy. The place wasn't packed.by any means and yet they struggle. The hotel is tired and the staff show this. Unfortunately it isn't how I remembered and won't be back again. One up from a posh hostel

My husband and I booked a two night B&B stay 5th & 6th October to celebrate my birthday and we were so glad we did. This hotel is right on the harbour with stunning views out to sea and the beach (119). All COVID19 regs were in action but in a non-invasive and professional way. This place was spotless and the rooms warm and welcoming. Everything you could need was there although I can’t comment on the spa facilities as although they were open we didn’t use during our short stay. Breakfast was table service only but beautifully cooked and served in a lovely spacious room with stunning sea views and in warmer weather you could eat out on the open terrace. The welcoming lounge bar also provided food until 20:30 and drinks to 22:30. Food was very reasonable and BIG portions!! Would I recommend here... most certainly ! It is a wonderful comfy base to explore all that northern Sligo Leitrim and Southern Donegal - but Mullaghmore is a wee gem in itself. So sad that this hotel has had to close today 7th October due to further COVID restrictions in the Republic of Ireland. My thoughts are with the wonderful staff at this uncertain time

Stayed in the pier hotel this week for 2 nights Was disappointed to see people checking in without masks .Or social distance.
Room was very nice ,Staff were helpful and cheerful .
Food especially breakfast was a disgrace,!!!
Full breakfast came with HALF piece of brown and white pudding .Bacon could be used to soak my shoe .
Second morning breakfast we decided to give the FULL
Breakfast a miss .,so we opped for poached eggs,
They arrived sliding around ,like ping pong balls
And looked like ping pong balls .They were over cooked and were like rubber
No garnish just 2 goes/ rubber balls sliding around the plate.
I think the chef / cook needs to go back to catering school as he could do with more lessons .
The really annoying thing was that 5 local men could come into the bar area ,and order drink ,with no food purchased .No social distance was evident.
The bar sigh said clearly NO drink served at the bar .
But this was ignored.
All in all this was our 3rd time to visit this hotel, BUT
It will be our last.
Shame on you Pierhead,
You have let yourselves down .!!!

Paid €160 for a Seaview Room on a B&B basis plus €150 for a Standard Twin Room on a B&B basis. The Seaview Room had a beautiful aspect with 2 juliet balconies (instead of windows) but was quite compact. The Twin Room was extremely compact but was manageable for a 1 night stay. Bar food was only served until 5.00 p.m. which we found most unusual and after that the only option was the formal dining room, which had to be booked in advance and had a very limited menu that was extremely expensive. Breakfast was decent with a good choice available. The biggest issue was the condition of the shower, which was covered in black mould (see pictures attached). Once this was brought to the attention of the receptionist we were shown 2 other rooms as options (one without the seaview that we had paid extra for and the which was really small & pokey) but opted to have the existing room cleaned instead. I appreciate that an effort was made to clean the shower but it still was not at the level expected so this is an issue that must be addressed by hotel management as it raises serious questions about cleanliness. Also, there were varying levels on Floor 1 which was a challenge for the 2 older members of family that were travelling with us.

This was my third stay at the Pier Head Hotel. The location in Mullaghmore is as fabulous as ever and having booked a harbour view room we had a lovely view of the harbour, beach and Benbulben to enjoy.
The hotel has its own big car park which was invaluable as we arrived on a very busy day with no spare spaces in the public parking spaces.
The staff were all pleasant and we enjoyed our breakfasts and a dinner in the dining room overlooking the sea.
Compared to my last stays I was a bit disappointed in the bathroom. Quite a lot of mould on the grout and sealant around the shower cubicle (the water was hot though) and even the loo brush was rusty! Surely this could so easily and quickly changed with little effort and very modest expense?

Stayed here on 6th March 2020 for one night. Our first room was freezing cold and the TV didn't work. We asked for another room and were given a bigger room which was warmer but the TV again didn't work. The wifi was also out of action. Upon enquiring about the TV we were told that a recent storm had damaged the signal. The receptionist assured us that an engineer was dealing with the issue. A few hours later the TV still wasn't working. At 10.35 pm we phoned again to see if the TVs had been fixed. A staff member arrived at our door (we had to get out of bed and get dressed) and proceeded to tune the television. A bizarre experience. The wifi never worked at all in our room. If you are crazy enough to book this hotel check in advance that the TV and wifi definitely work in the room you will be getting.
Breakfast was grim. The choice of food was very poor. On Saturday mornings the hotel pool effectively becomes a municipal facility, and your status as a paying customer becomes irrelevant as local kids have swimming lessons.
Seriously, this hotel is a shambles. The staff are fine. They have a resigned look as if they've given up telling their bosses about the repeated complaints from guests.
It's a shame. Mullaghmore is a beautiful village in a spectacular location. This hotel is an embarrassment, by contrast.

There is plentiful street parking along the harbour. Mullaghmore gets very busy on a summer weekend, but you will get parked somewhere!
