This is our second time here. The first time it was perfect, 5 star. The Resturant was open etc. it appears almost desolate now. You can see maint issues starting to show. Lose deck boards, water fount not working, cross not lit, shower drain very slow. Would hate to see this beautiful place go down hill.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re so glad you had a great experience the first time, but we’re sorry to hear about the issues you've noticed on your return visit. We truly appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention, and we agree – it would be a shame to see this beautiful place decline. I’ll make sure your comments are passed along to the management team to address the maintenance issues you mentioned. We hope your next visit is much more enjoyable!

The rooms: Booked a weekend stay for our anniversary, a much needed getaway, and truly enjoyed ourselves. The room , the Hemlock suite, was ground level, so no stairs, and was fabulous. Very very clean, spacious, and comfortable accommodations. Housekeeping is superb here. We were skeptical from some of the reviews ( mainly of the restaurant) but decided to see for ourselves. So glad we came and had a great visit. The view of course is phenomenal. The acoustics from the above floor is the only negative about our room and it wasn’t that bad at all. We would totally recommend this lodge stay. The sky bridge and chimney top is about a mile down on a bit of a rough road but so worth it. Breathtaking views. Our weekend was the middle of October and a perfect time to visit. The leaves had just started to turn.
The restaurant: Not overly crowded, nice quieter atmosphere and great great view. The food while it was a bit pricey, was really good. We got the mountain top burger and fettuccine. The dishes came out hot, and tasty. The service was a bit on the slow side, but friendly, our waitress Alyssa, was very social and chatted with us nicely, the food took a while to come out, but we weren’t in a hurry so no major deal for us. With the hardship of restaurants getting help I can understand why the longer wait hopefully they will improve in that area as they get more help.

The room and view is just great... just perfect...
The restaurant not so much. If the restaurant would step it up you could never get reservations. So it’s probably good it’s not. One thing I ate that was awesome was the crab cake appetizer. It was yummy.
I really think the food was good it’s just prepared poorly. Strawberry cake burned bottom, steaks cold, baked potato browned, not fresh, salad no no no. Not in an upscale restaurant. Eat before you get there and skip the restaurant and enjoy the grounds and patio view.

We saw this gorgeous place on TN Crossroads and combined our Vols season opener with this trip. The suites are clean, roomy and extremely accommodating with a mini kitchen. Once you drive up the mountain, you might be hard pressed to come down since it is so serene.

Next time we come, we will take in the lake and state parks.

The view off the decks are breathtaking and photo worthy any time day and night.

Great place for a girls getaway!!

Really wanted to love this place. Paid in advance for the room and there are no refunds for cancellations. We came for the view but the weather was not cooperative. We understand that was unfortunate but completely out of their control. On the positive side, the room itself was lovely and well-appointed. It had a luxurious king size bed, flat screen tv, fireplace, large whirlpool tub, separate bath sink area with lots of counter space and a spacious walk in shower, as well as a mini kitchen. It also had a private deck which would be awesome in better weather. We discussed trying a visit again in the future in better weather upon first arrival. On the down side, the road in is a twisty mountain road which, in the rain and severe fog, was a challenge to navigate. While the room appeared clean, there were large black ants in the bathroom area and some black crud that emerged from the whirlpool jets. However, the most unsettling thing was that the next morning, we awoke to find high winds in addition to the rain and fog - and the place was deserted! No cars in the parking lot! The restaurant was locked. We could find no one. On the trip home, we learned of tornado warnings in some areas. I emailed to let them know about the minor issues and to inquire if there had been some emergency but received no response. I just don't even know what to think about this experience other than it was unsettling.

The views were worth the trip up to the Skywalk over the chimney rocks. However we were disappointed in the restaurant which we visited first before exploring the grounds. We had already had lunch so thought dessert and coffee would be nice patronage. We didn't receive a welcoming greeting st the hostess check in and when we inquired about the lodge as our anniversary is coming up soon there was not a flicker of interest in telling us about accommodations. Just referred to the flyer at the counter. When taken to table to order in a almost empty dining room the waitress was just as dismissive about our presence. A smile would have broken her face it appeared. We were actually excited to have finally gotten up to mccloud mountain but there was not welcoming atmosphere here. Would recommend a drive up to see the beauty but just pass the restaurant and lodge and go out to see the walkway. As for our upcoming anniversary it will be spent in Townsend TN where folks are friendly and views just as spectacilular. The apple pie was actually very good but half a scoop of ice cream was kinda sparse. Coffee old and not hot. Thanks for the opportunity to be honest.

we enjoyed our room, it was perfectly appointed. However, the restaurant was a joke. We have never been treated so rudely, ever. Apparently, this is a family run establishment because when we complained about our server we were yelled at by the hostess and some guy came out of the kitchen and glared at us.

Upon a recent visit to the restaurant portion of this establishment I was immediately delighted by the stunning view. The grounds of the lodge and restaurant is also wonderfully landscaped and secluded. Upon entering the restaurant I was slightly bothered by the haphazard way the restaurant was setup and decorated. I spotted an large cardboard box overhead as well as a plant in a laundry basket?! The service was good, yet not overly friendly. The food was an experience. Before you prepare yourself for a turnaround dive, stop, this is no swan song. I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana, which was $18. Upon arrival of the food, I knew that I had been duped. The chicken tasted as if it was frozen and reheated. The pasta was over cooked and slightly mushy. The sauce was tasteless. My party's meals were of similar disappointment. I would have rather hiked somewhere else and saved the money.

We were visiting family who lived in the area and they treated us to dinner there. It is important to note that in order to keep out sightseers, this restaurant does require reservations.

There is quite a bit of variety on the menu, from burgers and sandwiches, to steaks, seafood, and pasta. Prices range from around $9 for the sandwiches to over $20 for steaks.

The food was excellent overall. Entrees come with a small salad and an side dish of your choice. There are lots of options of side dishes to choose from. Two of us ordered ribs, which were fall off the bone tender. Baked potatoes were hot and cooked perfectly. The grilled shrimp were large. One family member ordered the baked chicken special, which she described as too salty (our only complaint about the food). Rolls come with dinners, but apparently our server had forgotten ours because we had to ask for them after receiving our entrees. Otherwise, service was excellent.

Beer is served, but no wine or other alcoholic beverages. You can bring your own bottle of wine, if you wish. Our server was very accommodating in bringing wine glasses for us.

This restaurant and lodge sit at the top of Mt. Cloud in the Cumberland Mountains. The views are beautiful and breathtaking! On a clear day you can see for miles away.

My new wife and I spent a night in the Seventh Heaven suite recently while on our honeymoon. All we can say is WOW! This is absolutely the most beautiful hotel room we've ever enjoyed. Wonderfully appointed, with high end finishes such as jacuzzi tub, gas fireplace, kitchenette, granite counters, tile bathroom (with heated floor and TV), gorgeous bed, and comfy robes...this suite had it all.

Oh yes, the views. Imagine waking up above the clouds. See attached picture. The lodge sits at 2800 feet above sea level on the edge of a 1000 foot precipice. Absolutely stunning views. On a clear day the Smokies can be seen 60 miles away.

The food was tasty and reasonably price. I had the ribs and my wife had the seafood platter. Both were enjoyable. The wine was tasty but selection was lacking. As were the beer choices. Craft beers would be nice. Country breakfast in the morning was outstanding and reasonably priced.

The only knocks I would put on this lodge is:

-The decor/style of the restaurant does not match the rooms. I would expect more of a fine dining experience with rooms such as this. Maybe convert the lodge dining room into two different restaurants? Casual vs Fine Dining?

- There is no gift shop to allow us to commemorate our visit.

- It's a bit of a trek to get up the mountain to the lodge. It would be nice if management had more activities up there to keep us on the hill. Such as a pool, basketball, tennis, etc.

- Lack of internet/wi-fi in the rooms was unexpected and surprising for such a high end room.

- Lack of phone to front desk was unexpected as well.

Regardless of these issues, this place is A MUST VISIT and a 5 out of 5 all around. We will be back!
