Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We picked this location on the scenic Duck River for our semi-annual family get together. We weren't disappointed. Each family had their own cabin, (we had #5) which was spacious, clean and modern. We rented a total of 5 cabins, and all were clustered together, so nightly gatherings around the fire were a blast. Unfortunately, the brand new pool and restaurant were not quite finished, but we still had a great time. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I have to mention the quality golf course right across the road. It is an outstanding track, challenging, but not punishing. Had the pool and restaurant been open, I would have given 5 stars. Prices are very reasonable as well.

Stayed two nights this weekend. The property is dated (the key to open your room is just that: an actual key) but was clean and adequate. Our room had a nice balcony with a small table and a couple chairs. In the mornings, we were able to open the balcony door and enjoy the singing birds and such (no highway noise!).

I'd have given a one but if there was absolutely no other option you could sleep here.

Not only does it need a remodel but some cleaning and modern ways of 'putting the room together' IE THE BED. Nowadays hotels use comforter covers changed with the sheets and the pillows aren't wrapped in a potentially dirty bedspread. How about not using actual keys? Also you have to pull the room door hard to be sure it doesn't open back up on its own. And cleanliness? Sheets looked clean but crumbs were on the chair, the faucet in the tub was dropping and the whole section of the tub there was stained. I paid for the room but also headed over to Columbia to actually stay at an HI Express.

We stayed here for a weekend getaway to leave the city. The Lodge is basic and efficient and we loved it. It was constructed in 1962, and the vintage charm and architectural style really show! The room had brick walls on two sides and floor-to-ceiling windows perfect for letting some sun shine into your room or watching others have a good time. Each room has it's own porch, and the ground-level rooms have their own exterior door on the porch, which was GREAT! We loved waking up early and being close to the river and hiking opportunities. Will come back!

It was an absolutely awful and musty moisture filled and mildewed place that is likely dangerous for people who need to breathe clean air.

Do not stay in the lodge. Tennessee can do better for its employees and guests.

The lodge is in terrible condition and needs to be torn down immediately to protect the health of its employees and visitors.

I implore their state health department to verify this for themselves.

If you love your family find someplace else to stay!

We recdntlyl had a wedding very close to Henry Horton and most of the family and close friends stayed there. Lodging was fine. Clean rooms and hospitable desk crew.

The restaurant was a different story. The food itself may have been fine if you could have gotten enough of it.
The size of the facility would indicate they can handle a lot of people. We had a party of approximately 40 people, and had called in advance. We were told, not a problem, the restaurant would be able to handle it.
They coudnt, although the ONE waitress did her best to take care of us.The buffet line was woefully inadequate. For instance, though I tried several time, I never was able to get any scambled eggs.
When asked to speak to the manage, we were told she was off for the weekend and left word not to call her at home.
I had heard the food was not very good the day before when some of the guests had eaten there. The modest charge was not worth it when the food was not even available.]It seems part of the problem was a lack of staff on a holiday weekend when guests would have been there. The Inn was full.

We frequent many state parks in our travels, so we are used to outdated decor, but this looked like the shining! Impossible to see the room numbers from parking lot, we had to dig our flashlight out of suitcase to find our room. Room numbers are not in order! I asked for directions from front desk and no help was given. When we finally got to the room we foundation door that led to the interior of inn, this would have been helpful information. We were going to make due and check out early and go to the city the next day, until I had to wake my husband up to kill two cockroaches and one brown recluse. Needless to say, we immediately left. Also the so called wifi rooms searched for the entire time we were there. Also if you are arriving at night be prepared for few signs directing you to their location.

Where do I start...The fall out shelter you will be staying in looks like barracks with NO view of anything but maybe other nasty parts of the barracks (inside the rooms are not much better). The "buffet" is mediocre at best and HIGHLY overpriced. Really one of the worst parks in Tennessee, however there are plenty that are very nice and I suggest doing some research and going to one of those. Avoid this one!!

I have never stayed in a Tennessee State Park Inn. I do understand that they are working on a strict state mandated budget. The dining room and reception room were beautiful. Our family used the meeting room for our function and it was very nice. The staff were helpful and nice also. The rooms leave MUCH to be desired. They are old and moldy and dirty. I would never stay there again. I would stay in one of the cabins as I could bring my own linens and pillows. Dirty carpets, upholstery, bedspreads need to GO.

We booked our stay at a cabin. It was a rustic cabin. Very old and dated. It was dirty and smelled terribly of smoke from the wood burning fireplace. I could not breathe so we had to leave and find a hotel at 8:00 at night. Avoid the rustic cabins!
