We are Auckanders and we were looking for a kid -free night away and the chance to play a bit of golf. I came across O’Grady lodge on a google search and booked straight away.

The lodge was built by Paddy and his late wife Judy, the layout is well thought out and the rooms are spacious, private and luxurious. Every whim is catered for, from Paddy’s five star breakfast, the lodges amazing library to l’occitane toiletries. Our room had a nespresso machine (with a whole range of different flavors, a delicious selection of gourmet treats and chocolates, champagne and beer - all for us to help ourselves.

It was an All Blacks game night so we watched it in style in our room, lounging in O’Grady’s luscious bathrobes eating chocolates.

The view from our spacious balcony was private, looking through native bush, the main lodge living area has a fabulous view across the bush to the new Wainui golf course.

If there was anything remotely negative to say about this place it is that one night is not enough!!

We will be back!

Thank you Paddy!

<Atmosphere>
Fantastic for being relaxed at beautiful garden and dining room.

<Accommodation / Facilities>
Very clean and all facilities I need are in the guest room.
Especially, large bathtub, separated shower room and terrace are awesome.

<Location>
Not so far from Auckland city center and airport, but it is better to rent a car to access.
Good location to enjoy beautiful stars as there is no artificial light, and I will bring my golf bag next time to enjoy playing golf at the golf course opposite to this lodge.

<Food & Beverages>
Very satisfied with local meal and glasses of wine.
Local beer is also available at mini bar in the guest rooms.

<Staff>
Perfect, kind and warm hospitality.

My husband and I had the privilege of having a night at O'Grady Lodge.We were warmly welcomed by Paddy O'Grady and after being shown our room we were invited into the beautiful lounge area for coffee. It was really relaxing just sitting and having a chat before returning to our room.
Our room was incredible and the attention to detail was impeccable, from quality linen to the french toiletries in the bathroom not to mention the chocolate,fruit and complimentary drinks! Being surrounded by native bush made for a peaceful, quiet break.Paddy was an amazing host and the breakfast was one of the best we've had! We will be returning later this year for sure!

O’Grady Lodge truly lives up to the title lodge although it needs the fuller title of Luxury Lodge. It expresses QUALITY in every aspect – décor, facilities and an exceptional host in Paddy. The beds are delightfully comfortable an all creature comforts are supplied. The nearby Wainui Golf Club offers excellent dining and Paddy kindly drove us to and from dinner – that’s service!

This delightful building is in a beautiful private setting surrounded by tall trees while still offering great views over the adjacent golf course and countryside.

Our only regret was that we had only booked one night and prior commitments at home meant we had to say goodbye but we will be back soon.

We have stayed at a wide range of accommodation around the world and O’Grady Lodge ticks all the boxes for an excellent world class experience.

Incredible place to stay, perfect in every way! The lodge is simply beautiful - warm and comfortable with everything you could possibly need. I stayed whilst in Auckland for work, it’s conveniently located to SH1 but still feels secluded. Paddy is a fantastic host, I only wish I could have stayed longer.

It's hard to recommend this placed enough. Judy and Paddy are excellent hosts in their stunning home.
The breakfasts are amazing and our room was incredibly luxurious. There's a small library and a gorgeous garden.
A real treat.

Ogrady lodge is the best place I have ever stayed at, the lodge was immaculate its like your dream home that you never ever want to leave. Breakfast & and nibbles were supplied (breakfast was cooked for kings and queens). Everything exceeded my expectations. paddy & judy made us all feel extremely welcome & at home, they went out of there way to make sure you were happy. I had been so stressed out with my wedding that when I got back to the the ogrady lodge I instantly felt relaxed. We will definitely be coming back :)

Everything was great from the beginning to the end: beautiful house, amazing garden, incredible host and great talks! Did I talk about the breakfast? Try it, you won't forget it... It's a little paradise just 30 min North of Auckland. But be careful, you'll want to stay there forever!

This lodge is an experience not to be missed. Beyond 5 star it is a 10 star experience. Judy and Paddy offer a B & B which should be used as an example to every B & B owner as to "how to" provide hospitality. They should run a school for B & B owners - the whole world's B & B industry would be hugely enhanced. From drinks and hot and cold canapés in the evenings, a breakfast to die for, a room with beautiful views and every comfort you could imagine, a bar fridge stocked with the best wines, champagne and beers all inclusive - this lodge soothes the senses and makes you wish you could stay forever. There is also a private lounge with open fireplace for guests and a library full of books and DVDs. A 5 minute drive off the main highway and close to beaches and lots of attractions. Best of all is Paddy and Judys very relaxed and humble personalities - they make you feel welcome and at ease as soon as you meet them. This is the best B & B we have ever stayed in - even those that cost us 4 times the amount. We hope to return on our next visit to NZ.
