The owners/operators of Miners on Sea were the epitome of small town hospitality. We were visiting friends in Granity, went for a glass of wine and ended up spending New Years eve with them. They also suggested interesting places to visit in the area. Our friends have stayed in the accommodations a number of times. We will definitely book rooms here if we return to visit again.
For a peaceful weekend getaway, da WanderingWabbits totally enjoyed Miners-On-Sea in the West Coast village of Granity. Granity is an ideal base from which to explore the Charming Creek Walkway, Karamea and the stunning Oparara limestone arches, the mining history of Denniston and Millerton. And when your excursions/exertions are done, catch another stunning West Coast sunset from the pebbled beach or the restaurant...we had delicious meals at the on-site restaurant Tommy Knockers - as great as any city restaurant! Our modern chalet was clean and comfortable, only a few hundred metres from the soothing sound of the rolling Tasman Sea surf. So relaxing to sit on the deck with a glass of wine and think: "The next place out there is...Australia!" (our only suggestion would be for a portable electric fan in the chalet, for the height of summer). We'd love to come back! ===== Da WanderingWabbits stayed at Miners-On-Sea just days before the Coast was savaged by former cyclones Fehi and Gita. We really feel for all those friendly welcoming locals, and hope this coming summer is highly successful for you. We thoroughly recommend Miners-On-Sea.…
Highly recommended - high quality modern facilities - great restaurant, the fabulous Chef from 2 years ago has gone, the current Chef was on leave, but the second Chef produced a fabulous meal for us. Great location at the top of the West Coast, very beautiful and in a scenic paradise.
me, "two mlkshakes please" Staff, (huff), it will be at least 20 minutes"! Me, "20 minutes! how come?" Staff, "because we are very busy" I look around and there were two other parties in the whole place, 8 people tops! And with that I left 20 minutes to wizz some milk and ice-cream......I think not.
My husband and I stopped at Miners on the Sea for lunch while on a day trip to the Charming Creek Walkway. We had great service and food and enjoyed our lunch on the back deck looking out towards the ocean. Spectacular location, lovely spot for an after lunch beach walk. Nice clean facilities. Would love to come back and stay in one of the chalets facing the beach.
