Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for one night in a non powered camper and absolutely loved it. This was one of the quieter family campsites and the host was super friendly and even gave us banana bread muffins! You can camp where you like in the field as they aren’t numbered which is good, relaxed. It’s situated between the mountains so nice views in the area.
The showers and toilets are good and clean. The communal kitchen and bbq area is great and has enough space for all to use. There’s drinking water, laundry etc. A range of animals such as pigs, sheep, goats, rabbits. We tried the glow worm walk up to the waterfall, it’s quite enclosed in dense forest so need good walking boots. There’s also a lady who comes and makes pizza in a pizza oven on site, I believe they were $12- we didn’t try any as we had already eaten unfortunately.
We would definitely stay here again! It has all you need and isn’t too busy, super relaxed.

What an amazing place!. First thing I was given was a bag of food for the animals followed by muffins for me and a two pint carton of milk. The next treat was an upgrade - what will I do with a whole suite and several beds - and finally I was told there is a waterfall about 30 mins walk away that has glow worms come about 9pm. So here I am in luxurious surroundings listening to the Tuis and contemplating a night out with the glow worms! Glad I’ve booked this place for the journey home as well!!

A great value holiday park next to queen Charlotte track . Have various options . I booked a room with shared kitchen and bathroom - there were two bunk beds in the room but I only had to pay for single occupancy
Owner very friendly - got a free warm muffin on arrival and some nuts to feed the animal .
Facilities were great - had everything including clothing washing facilities
Was clean
Locals shop is 2k away but closes at 5pm so if you need to buy food get it in Picton

Did somebody say complimentary freshly baked muffins on arrival?
The couple that greeted us welcomed us with a banana muffin each, and after just finishing the QC Track, it was a dream. The owner even let us borrow their car to take to the local pub 2km down the road (our feet were very grateful!)
Highly recommend staying here and feeding the farm animals and having a warm shower after a long hike in the bush, or just for any occasion. It was a pleasure to stay here 🤍

We arrived in the cold and rain in June but our welcome was warm and friendly with warmed banana muffins. The site was a bit muddy but it had beem raining heavily...it was still easily accessible. The toilets, showers and kitchen etc are immaculate with plenty of hot water. We were given food to feed the sheep, goats and pigs. There's also a farm walk to a n amazing waterfall. Great place to stay. We stayed in our caravan.

This place is a gem, family and pet friendly. Spacious, quiet, all the facilities are spotless. We stayed in the cottage which is very comfortable and had everything we needed. The kids loved feeding the animals with the food supplied and a magical 30 min bush walk out the back of the farm leads to a beautiful waterfall, with glow worms at night. Great location to explore the Sounds with Anakiwa just down the road and Havelock/Picton within easy reach. Highly recommend.

Our family of four was on a really tight budget and planned a trip at the busiest time. There was one cabin left but it was perfect. The facilities were good and the setting was great. All the animals were a hit with my girls and although we didn't get time, there is a walk up to a waterfall as well as glow worms to see. Very cool!

Room Tip: Get a self contained cabin a bit further away from the community area. It was a bit awkward...

We spent one night at the campsite and we had a fantastic stay. The campsite itself is nice and quiet and the service is fantastic, starting with warm muffins when we checked in. But the most fantastic part of the stay was the evening walk to the waterfall and the glowworms. We had seen the spectacular caves at Waitomo, but this place was truely magical. You walk on a narrow path along a small creek. Then you wait for the darkness and lo and behold the blue glowworms become visible all over the forrest. A not to miss stopover in NZ.

We first came to Smiths Farm last year, loved it soo much we returned this year! Thoroughly enjoyed our time there once again our children & friends. Gorgeous spot and relaxing! Rural surrounds, peaceful, safe and family/pet friendly. We have met loads of friendly families & people during our time there. The owners are also a friendly family, very helpful, accomodating, genuinely lovely people. Delish banana muffins on arrival too - sweet touch I thought! Grounds and facilities are great for kids, pets, everyone to enjoy! Facilities well maintained and cleaned regularly aswell as comfortable. Highly recommend staying here if your in the area. There was a lady there making fresh pizza too in the evenings bonus! It’s a great spot for exploring Queen Charlotte/Sounds area & have found it very central to travel to other cool spots ie beaches, small towns. See you next year!

Love this place. Plenty of space, clean facilities and outstanding customer service. On top of that getting to feed the animals for free, the awesome little walk to the waterfall/glow worms and the extremely yummy muffin on arrival, made the stay homely and perfect.
