While I really am not a fan of leaving negative reviews I feel inclined to be forthcoming to those whom are needing to stay in Newberry SC. While a lovely small quaint town with very few “nice” options for accommodations this Hilton property obviously is aware & take extreme advantage of this. The staff is horribly rude from check in to check out. We were given a room that had not even been cleaned as linens on floor and beer bottles everywhere… yes we were given a new room, but how unprofessional for the front desk to say and yes I’ll quote, “I guess I should apologize but it wasn’t my fault so I won’t”… ok!!! As a business owner of one of my staff stated that they would be looking for a new job. I realize Covid has hampered the ability to find good staff but I as a paying guest should not be the one “taking it for the team”. Regrettably, I also have a broken ankle and am in a no weight bearing cast so having the ability to pull up to the front door is important. This same front desk staff parks their vehicles here so it’s virtually impossible to access the door without some extra work. I will comment positively as I grabbed a cup of yogurt prior to check out and their breakfast area was clean and appeared nicely prepared. I did give Hilton this feedback and yes, crickets. Won’t be returning to this location….

From arrival to departure, we were extremely pleased with this Hampton Inn. There was a line to check in but the front desk was efficient and took care of all of us smoothly and quickly. Our room was super clean and the beds were oh, so comfortable! After a good night's sleep we had a yummy breakfast, juice and coffee. The choices available on the breakfast buffet should please even the pickiest! The dining area was clean and as soon as a diner left, staff swooped in and sanitized the tables. We had a slight hitch with our reservation, which was a gift along with tickets to a show at the Opera House. Because of covid cancelations, we had to change the date of our stay and Expedia didn't want to honor the reservation. The general manager voluntarily stepped up and kept after Expedia until the issue was resolved in our favor. We will definitely be back to this lovely hotel next door to the Newberry Opera House!

Let me start off with the positive. The two young ladies at the front desk were very pleasant, unfortunately that won't help with the fact that it rained inside my 1 bedroom suite and damaged my belongings! It took my friend to call corporate for the manager to finally decide to come and assist. Ms. Danielle initially told us via the front office agent that she wouldn't charge us for the night and would move us to another suite which was smaller then the one we were in.
The bedroom ceiling leaked in two long areas which got everything soaked! It literally looked like it was raining inside! Mind you we were on the 3rd floor and there was a 4th floor! The living room area was leaking as well all over the AC unit and puddled onto the floor.
It has been 2 days since check out and our credit card was charged even though we received a $0 receipt at check-out! We had to call to get that charge reversed. We still have not heard back from ANYONE regarding the cost of replacement on all of our electronics which were damaged. They took pictures and we have video.
If you have options on where to stay DO NOT STAY THERE!!!

This Hilton property has an unpublished policy of servicing the rooms for cleaning on alternate days for a multiple-day stay. I was not told about this for our 2-night stay when I checked in and only found out about it when our room was not cleaned. I was told I should have asked for it to be cleaned daily. For $150 per night, I expect daily cleaning without asking. The desk clerk said "That's our policy" when I complained. I called Hilton Honors corporate and talked with Christian about corporate policy on this matter. He was on no help, only saying "Yes some properties are doing this". If you choose to stay here for multiple days, I suggest packing some TP for those alternate days!! For me, I am done with Hilton properties and will give my business to Hyatt, Marriott, etc.

Massive brick building next to the Opera House in "downtown" Newberry. Room was spacious and clean. Easy walk to a couple of restaurants and the very good deli called Vigaro Market. (Great pastrami sandwiches).
However, the beds were not particularly comfortable and the HVAC blower was very loud. The breakfast was not great either. Perhaps this will change when the COVID situation continues to ease. Also, a suggestion: instead of providing only medium roast coffee on your coffer bar, how about including a dark roast?

Dear MikefromKentucky, Thank you for your honest review of our hotel. With Covid we decided to try and do a breakfast that would have less contact with everyone and would be easier to help people stay 6 ft apart. I will let our maintenance team know about the HVAC so that they can work on it. I will look into seeing if we can offer more coffee options. Thanks, Joshua Montgomery

When we arrived to check-in, there was no one at the desk. The clerk finally came to the front desk after about 5 minutes. She was a bit abrupt and not friendly at all. She checked us in all the while seeming cold and agitated.
After getting the room, I decided to go downstairs for some coffee when I heard the desk clerk arguing and using profanity toward an employee whom she was definitely angry with in the office near the front desk.
The room was nice and clean. The pillows were flat and need replacing. But, the bed was very comfortable.
We went down for breakfast the next morning. They were out of eggs and coffee. But, they were refilled after we waited a bit.
The location of the hotel was perfectly located for us as we were attending a concert at the opera house across the street. It's also very close to the restaurant where we had reservations and a nice bar across the street.
I would definitely stay there again, but there is also room for some improvements with the issues I mentioned above.

Great location!
Comfy beds. It was like they were brand new!!
Clean rooms. Even with this COVID crap which I’m so sick of the property was very clean.
Enjoyed the breakfast boxes. Hard boiled eggs, bagel, cream cheese and an orange juice were just right to start the day.

We had to leave our first-floor room twice on a Saturday night due to a faulty fire sensor in the pool area of the hotel. The first alarm went off at 2:15 am and we exited the hotel as directed and stood in the parking lot until around 3:00 am when the All Clear was given. As we were entering the hotel and passing by the front desk, we heard one firefigher tell the Clerk that he hoped the sensor would not go off again. Nope. It was around 3:30 am when we were drifting off when the piercing alarm went off again. We walked past the front desk again and the clerk said it was the same sensor going off again and we could go back to our room if we wanted to not stand go stand outside. The alarm continued to sound for a good 30 more minutes and even with pillows over our ears, we could not go fall back asleep for another hour. Fast forward to the morning when checking out, I politely asked the front desk clerk LeAnne if there was any adjustment that were being made to the guests since none of us had a pleasant experience during the night. She was definitely the rudest clerk I have ever dealt with at a Hampton Inn anywhere in the last 30 years. She said that she had talked with the General Manager Deborah and there would be no adjustments because it was a Safety Issue. There was no apologies for the inconvenience last night or anything close and her attitude was how dare I asked something like that. My wife looked at me and said that will be the first and last time we ever come to the Hampton Inn Newberry - Opera House. This hotel definitely needs some improvements with their people skills at the front desk and also their fire system equipment. Would hate to see future guests have the same experience as the two of us!

Strange traveling with the new CIVID-19 rules. They did their best to make us feel comfortable, bag cold breakfast to go in lieu of breakfast, no room makeup unless there for 4 days, a bit like being at home. We were just glad they were open since we had to be with family. Need to update bathrooms, and a good coat of paint would do wonders. Staff was great.
