Detailed Reviews
I know what to expect from the lowest price in town. However, I expect the bed linens and towels to be clean. They are the most personal items in the room and should be easy to clean or cheapest to replace. They were very stained with cigarette burns, rust, grease, dirt, dead spiders, and other questionable spots. The front staff and handy man were very nice and found me the cleanest and softest they had. There was also a light smoke odor in my non-smoking room that had me wake up with sinus problem and sore throat. It probably would be worth the extra $11 to go elsewhere.

Worst hotel I’ve ever visited. Terrible stink, terrible furniture, huge paint chips everywhere, ac was turned off so super hot upon arriving, couldn’t find reservation so waited for 30 minutes in the heat, fridge and everything was unplugged upon arrival, pillows are awful and bed looks like it has every disease, covered in stains. Blanket has hair and stains. Carpet feels like it’s covered in dirt. Just all around awful. Terrible. Should have paid the extra $20 to stay elsewhere. Booked online and didn’t see room. Hot as crap in room. Just awful.

No one is available until 11 am. The clerks are rude they also will lie to you. In my experience I spent a few days at this place and I ended up buying my own towels. I’m one of the easiest people to make happy and repeatedly the staff would be completely unhelpful. If you’re in a situation like I was were you need a place to go but low on funds. Don’t go here. If you have any other recourse go somewhere else. The front desk staff is nonexistent. You will see children shoes at the front desk when look through the glass. If you do get staff it will likely be a young lady who honestly has the nastiest attitude I’ve ever encountered when dealing with other peoples money and in a business that requires understanding you will be met with a stiff look and very nasty words. If the rooms won’t turn you off a meeting with her will. Avoid this place at all cost.

This location has had many upgrades. Beds are clean and comfortable, bathroom clean and fresh.
Very quiet off-street location but walking distance to shops and restaurants.
The owner/desk clerk was very pleasant and accommodating.
Highly recommend for the price!

New owners are running the hotel now. Or room was very clean and no bugs. The sheets and towels were very clean. New carpet in our room. The owners were very nice, accommodating people. I was down here from Pennsylvania visiting my brother during a family emergency and ended up staying at the hotel for two weeks. Owners gave a great rate. Pool is not open and there is no breakfast offered. No coffee maker in the room and no hair dryer. For the rate I was charged that was okay. It was a clean, safe place to stay. Upgrades are being made by the new owners.

This is an extremely clean place to stay. Very friendly owners and staff. Any problems, they jump right in and fix it. If you need a clean safe place to stay, this is the place to go. I would stay here again if need to. They are also pet friendly.

When I made the reservation on Expedia I chose Pay at Hotel. Well the owner wife and the owner called me today and were extremely rude telling me I better give them a credit card number to run or they were cancelling my reservation. The whole point of Pay at Hotel is to Pay at the Hotel!! Not be harassed by people who barely speak English demanding my credit card number. I told them what they could do with their hotel room and cancelled the reservation through Expedia. I then received an email saying I owed a $66.96 cancelation fee!! HAHA! Good luck with that!!
The reviews of this place already suck and now I understand why!!

Response from RedCarpetInnGwoodSC, Manager at Rodeway Inn
Responded 18 Apr 2019
Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I am not entirely sure how common it may be for you to reserve rooms online, but in order to fully guarantee a reservation and secure a room at the online rate, a valid credit card must be submitted regardless if you pay online or directly at hotel. Our hotel policy states there is a 24 hour cancellation policy prior to date of arrival therefore we went ahead attempted to do a pre-authorization on your credit card on the arrival date. As a courtesy, we contacted you by phone and notified to let you know that your credit card had declined and were requesting a valid credit or debit card so that way we could hold your room for the evening as there was high demand. In that conversation, we even clearly stated you could change your form of payment when you checked in but you refused that option. If all hotels were to hold rooms on invalid credit cards and the guest never shows up, we would lose the business from those who actually needed a room. As stated before and in your confirmation email, there is a 24 hour cancellation policy, for which is why you received an email from Expedia. If you have any other issues or concerns, please let us know. Thanks, Red Carpet Inn Management Greenwood, SC

Location is ideal in middle of greenwood. Most hotels charge way to much for a room that you will hardly be in anyways. My last visit was a week stay I was given a good rate and a clean room. That was worth it for the rate I paid but to my surprise I was also offered breakfast every morning of my stay. Staff is super friendly especially the front desk clerk who would always great me with a warm cheerful hello and good morning. I'm from out of town but when I do visit greenwood I stay at red carpet inn. Thanks

I made my reservation for a single room the day before - through my AAA membership. I received a bit of a discount - which was a nice bonus. The first evening I planned to stay (Friday 3/3/23) - I called the hotel directly to confirm my reservations for the next two evenings. I spoke to a gentleman (I think was the Manager, Mr Goswami). The man confirmed that my reservations were received and they were happy to have me as a guest. I got a very welcoming and grateful attitude from the man on the phone.
Many of the more "fancy"/expensive locations all pretty much adhere to many strict policies - many of which turn out to be most convenient for themselves, and many times come as a mild to major inconvenience to the customer.
One of the such huge inconveniences to me (with the more "fancy"/expensive locations) in the recent past has been the hassle I have gotten increasingly more and more over the last few years of - when you mention or intend on paying them with cash, they act like you just asked them if you could urinate in their pool. They treat you like you are a sketchy person trying to get over on them or something.
With this hotel - CASH WAS NOT A PROBLEM! I like that. The Manager Mr Goswami served me with a smile and kind words the entire time during my check in. He was happy to accept cash, was glad I was able to get a discount with AAA, and the check in was the FASTEST, least invasive, and pleasant experience I have ever had with travel lodging. He truly seemed very happy that I had chosen to stay at their facility. Also, I locked myself out of my room accidentally on Saturday night. I went to the night window - within 10 seconds Mr Goswami was at the window. I explained, he spoke to me with smiles and a kind voice the whole time. He gave me an extra key within seconds - and even waived their usual fee of $2 for the extra key.
I seen one reviewer who made a comment that the management staff/owners - live on the property. As if them living there was somehow supposed to make the stay less enjoyable, or maybe the place was trashy or low class because of this. I propose the exact opposite feelings. I have stayed in several Indian/Pakistani owned places. And, as far as I can recall - they all live at the location they run. In my opinion - this means they care more about service, security, and the well being of the property - it isn't just a job to them - it is their entire life. I don't care if grandma has a room downstairs and she is cooking out on a grill or hanging laundry out - that would mean, if I felt like breaking out my grill or hanging my laundry out - they wouldn't say anything to me. That to me is warm and courteous service.
It is strange - in our society we have gotten to where if someone is friendly or relaxed in communicating or dealing with us - we try to make that person seem weird for being a laid back/warm person. It is like most people are brainwashed to believe that everything has to follow strict, sterilized, corporate-enforced rules, regulations, and policies - in order for those people to feel things are in balance.
It is true - the housekeeping could do a better job. There were a couple things slightly out of place, there were some very faint stain spots on one of the towels (but it did look like it was laundered). But, from a business/financial point of view - to employ and retain more or better housekeepers would essentially and unavoidably mean that the hotel would have to pay higher wages. I have no doubt that locations such as these run on a very slim margin. If they paid the housekeepers more - the rates would be much higher.
And let's face it - most, if not all of the people who gave terrible review, were shopping to find the cheapest place they possibly could find in the area. Then they show up and act so offended that they got what they paid for. GET REAL PEOPLE!

This hotel should not be in business! DHEC should have already been involved! I arrived here with my family around 1am! It was already late and was extremely tried, I also have a 3 year old, so online you can pay at around $65, I paid 80 bucks for one night and not even a full night! The service was horrible, then first room was horrible, smelled like crap ,the carpets are dirty and the bedding has holes, paint, and dark spots
As well on the towels! There were 2 small towels and they were dirty and we couldn’t get more, the overall room looked like a crack house, also beside the dresser in the second room we moved to thinking it would be cleaner was a needle top! Just horrible, so nasty! Didn’t even want to try to sleep and literally had to clean the whole night because you can’t get a refund! I took some videos as well, never will I stay in this dump, the timing right now with a pandemic and a virus going around , definitely should get something else! This hotel has COVID and much more I’m sure!
