Over the past few years, before Covid stopped our Travel, we started to discover B&Bs across the country. The owner at this place is the nicest person you ever want to meet.
But let me discuss more about this place itself. The House is within walking distance of Downtown Greenville, and we walked there both days. A beautiful old charmer of a house with a lot of whimsical items all around the outside of the house. There’s enough parking in the back for all the guests.
There’s only one room on the ground floor and we’ve read that it’s the most Popular. Each room includes a private bathroom. Our room, the Rosamunde, included a Queen Bed, Custom tiled walk-in shower (with a rain drop head with enough pressure to clean your scalp like it’s never been cleaned before), and an antique clawfoot tub. It was the most decorated of any of the rooms in the house. Someone just had way too much fun finding items for the walls, and that included our room, as well as the rest of the house. On the second floor is a refrigerator with cold drinks and water as well as a coffee area with a kuerig.
I hate to report the two things I didn’t like about our room and both concerned the bed. For both my wife and I, it was too soft, and it actually hurt both our backs to sleep on it. The other thing was the location of the TV to the four posted bed; Not that we spent a lot of time in the room, but while my wife was in the Bathroom either getting ready in the morning or her before bed ritual late at night, there was nothing else to do than watch a little TV. You needed to lay to the far left side of the bed to see it unobstructed by the bed post. That was really only a minor concern. The only other choice would have been to pull one of the magnificent books off the shelf, but I would never get the chance to finish any of them.
As I said, There’s the Bed, and then there’s the Breakfasts, and each morning they were great and imaginative. You get the choice of Breakfast at 8am or 9am. You’ll find the daily offerings hand-written on a plate facing the dining area. Imagine Krispie Kreme Bread Pudding, Cajun Eggs, or Roasted Mango with ginger Maple crystals (My wife’s favorite). I love Breakfast. Oh, and great coffee!
It was a fabulous stay and the next time we visit Greenville, we’ll attempt to check out one of the other rooms.

Each time we visit Greenville, we have stayed at Pettigru Place Bed and Breakfast with expectation of unsurpassed attention to detail. Lori and Staff keep looking for areas to improve when we think it cannot be any better. Very restful environment that seems to come from the heart and not just a business doing well.

We cannot say enough about Pettigru Place! This historic home is meticulously maintained with 6 uniquely designed rooms, each with their own private bath. We stayed here for a weekend getaway for 2-nights and chose the Swan’s Gate suite. It was a hard decision on which themed room to choose. The hospitality is top notch; from meeting you at the front door, to the homemade cookies in your room upon arrival…which were so yummy! They offer wine and cheese board every afternoon. It can be sent to your room of you can choose to sit in one of the beautifully decorated rooms on the main level, or take it outside to the gazebo where you can marvel at the beautiful gardens on the property. They have thought of everything, including having a self serve coffee bar and stocked cool beverages available any time.
Now, the breakfast. One word, WOW! It is delicious! It is served with the most incredible presentation on gorgeous china and coordinating cloth napkins. They are truly professional chefs to put out a spread like this.
With this being a smaller, more intimate inn, they strive to make your visit an experience you will thoroughly enjoy. We will definitely be back! The only big decision, which room theme to choose. For anyone planning a trip to Greenville, consider staying here. You will not be disappointed. It is in close proximity to downtown and an easy walk. We truly enjoyed our stay!

We stayed at Pettigru Place for our second time, and our experience again was wonderful. Lori is not only a gracious hostess but she is an amazing cook. The breakfasts are creative and yummy! And the evening cheese tray and glass of wine was a treat. Our room was spotless, bed was comfy-cozy and the attached balcony was a pleasure to sit in the sun and relax. The Petigru is located close to town so walking to dinner or through the park was easy. We will be back!

Everything is geared towards comfort. It’s lovely but not fancy. But frankly it was perfect. The room was a little small but I would think that would be standard for the level of quality at that price point. The place is spotless. I was late and the proprietor put wine and cheese in my room along with a boatload of yummy chocolate chip cookies. Right outside is coffee, ice and a fridge full of soft drinks. I got a whole pot of decaf. The fruit was plentiful and sweet. I didn’t like the pancakes but they were wonderfully prepared with a clever glaze instead of syrup. If you’re a pancake fan, you’ll probably ask for more. Although the portion was plentiful. I like that I was given a choice at what time to have breakfast and that it was obvious the pancakes weren’t made ahead. I had a problem which required a bit of accommodation and the hostess couldn’t have been more gracious. I had been trying to book this place for a while and now I can see why it’s generally booked. Who wouldn’t want to stay there.

But I must fuss at you! Please, please, please, next time you stay with us, let us know if you aren't crazy about the breakfast we are serving, we would have been more than happy to scramble an egg or two for you. We certainly don't want anyone leaving hungry - breakfast is the other half of our name, after all! It was wonderful to meet you, we are so sorry that you had some troubles in getting to us, but hopefully, the next trip to Greenville will be smooth sailing. Until then, safe travels!

My friend and I visited Pettigru place for one night to celebrate the start of a sabbatical from work. The gourmet breakfast during our stay was French toast covered in warm apples with a dollop of ice cream and yummy bacon. It could not have been nicer.

Once again, Lori and her staff made our visit thoroughly enjoyable with a pampered feeling from arrival to departure. With the justifiable concern folks have for travel during the Covid Pandemic, we were impressed and relaxed that much work and attention had been given to assure everyone their safety anywhere on site was of great importance. This included areas for serving the famous and heavenly avant garde breakfast selections. Rest, relax, and be spoiled.

Great B&B in an old neighborhood of Greenville only a short walk to downtown.

We aren’t experienced B&B visitors, so we were continually impressed with the amenities in this quaint old house. We were in a small room (the Hummingbird) with its own small porch, decorated with flower pots and birdhouses, which made for a perfect spot for a morning cup of coffee. There was a Keurig coffee maker in the hallway, and just when I thought I might have to settle for flavored creamer, I found a small container of milk in the old fridge. What a nice touch to have a small antique refrigerator in the upstairs hall for water and soda!

Other great features included a modern bathroom with a large shower, tiny shelves everywhere so you were never lacking something even in such a small room, and lots of outdoor seating areas - it was a brief, busy stay for us, but I could see using these beautifully decorated areas often on a longer stay in cooler weather.

And to top it off, the breakfast was amazing (Peaches and Cream French toast) served by the the most pleasant host.
