Hotel Hartness’ mission is to serve as the ultimate destination for those looking to experience incredible amenities and a level of service not currently offered in the Greenville market. Sean Hartness, CEO of Hartness, summed it up perfectly when he said at the official unveiling, “I am thrilled to be a part of transforming the Hartness family estate into a destination address that will be enjoyed by both the local community and out-of-town guests for generations to come. Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
Based on the reviews I'd read of this hotel, my expectations were set very high, and I was not disappointed in the slightest. Even as I pulled into the parking lot while it was raining, a member of staff rushed to meet me with an umbrella. Everyone I met was kind, service-minded and helpful. A manager even offered to help carry my bags when he saw me struggling, even though he was in the middle of some other task. In addition, the room I stayed in was absolutely immaculate, very comfortable and spacious.
The grounds surrounding the hotel are very beautiful and I encourage anyone staying here to make use of the free bike rentals to explore and work up a sweat before relaxing at the pool. If I could have a single point of feedback, I would have liked to have a poolside drinks service, even if only by app. Next time, I will remember to bring some with me. As you can no doubt tell, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hartness Hotel and would love to come again.

This was the best hotel experience I have had. I want to come back to visit, just to relax in the hotel. The room was comfortable, large bath towels, small details like a bedside phone charger, substantial bottles of water ( not the typical flimsy plastic) , an espresso and coffee maker, decor was comfortable elegance. The shared spaces I. The lobby invited sitting and gathering. The ( free) breakfast was delicious, even though it was relatively simple. Backdrop was a lovely pool area and gorgeous lake with walking paths, bikes available for guests. Lovely.

This is the second year that my boyfriend and I have planned a quiet stay here booked during their Black Friday sale. We had a good experience, again. Our favorite things are the large romantic tub in the Holly suite and the beautiful trails to stroll around the property. We missed the chickens!
Be aware that it seems all the Holly Suite rooms face the parking lots.
I do want to note a few suggestions. Breakfast is badly in need of some sliced fresh fruit or some healthier options. Especially since they charge a resort fee and since they seem to have an attendant in the breakfast room all morning I think an omelette station would be a nice touch. Last year some nice bath salts were provided, but not this time. Missed that. Slippers in addition to the robes would be a nice touch too.
And, this seems to happen in every hotel … While they were nice enough to honor our late checkout request, housekeeping was still banging on the door a few minutes after the usual checkout time. They also only had one fireplace going even though it was quite cold — why not both? 😁
Note that there’s not much in the way of nice restaurants near the hotel, without driving downtown. After a mixed bag of experiences at the on-site restaurant and bar last time we tried out the nearby One5 this time which was also a disappointment. However we did enjoy the German restaurant down the street.
Lastly, we went down to order food at the bar once a solid 45 minutes before the stated closing time for the kitchen (on the checkin paperwork) and were told the kitchen was already closed. That might’ve made sense had it been dead but it was really busy with some sort of event or party going on on the premises? But a dominos delivery was quick 🙃
Overall we enjoyed our stay! It’s a very nice place.

We stayed at Hotel Hartness for three nights in May. What an amazing hotel. We were greeted with such kindness and this continued throughout our stay. We booked the king extended room, the room was fantastic, impeccably clean & modern. Kudos to every staff member we encountered, from the bellman, check- in, to the cleaning and breakfast staff as well as the manager of rooms. Everyone we encountered was delightful and eager to help and made our stay wonderful and memorable.

The grounds are amazing. The hotel property itself is amazing from common areas to the rooms themselves. May just be the quietest room I've ever stayed in over 3+ decades of traveling. The one thing that stood out beyond what I just described was how each & every employee we were in proximity to either tried to act like they were invisible, or if that didn't work & we engaged them, were only base-level cordial (at best). It really stood out to us as one of the lasting impressions of our stay. Very odd to us for a hotel/resort of the Hartness' caliber. We left the Hartness & went to the Ashville area staying there in a 2/3-Star grade hotel where every employee we were in proximity to couldn't have been nice & friendly enough.

SPA REVIEW
Our spa experience began disappointingly. We arrived 15 minutes early (even though this was not recommended or communicated). Upon arrival, we waited an additional 5-10 minutes in the crowded waiting area before being attended to.
Once we were finally assisted, we were informed about technical issues with the intake form, leading to further delays. Despite arriving on time for our appointment, we were taken to the locker room to change without indicating that our massage and facial times had already begun. Consequently, every minute spent changing, going to the bathroom, locking up our belongings, and more reduced our treatment time, although that was not communicated.
Realizing our treatment was shortened by 20%, we raised our concerns with the front desk staff. Unfortunately, instead of acknowledging their communication failures and technical delays, they did not take responsibility or offer any explanation. This missed opportunity to prioritize customer service and address our concerns was disappointing.
Overall, while the spa environment was pleasant, the lack of clear communication and accountability for the delays significantly detracted from our experience. We hope this feedback helps the spa improve their service standards and communication practices for future guests

Hotel Hartness is spectacular. I have no problem admitting that I am a hotel snob. I do a lot of research before choosing any because I have a standard of CLEAN which I am looking for. The hotel and room met that standard.
The room is very nice and the grounds are beautiful. I did not get to explore all of the trails, but if you are a runner, like to walk, or ride a bike, there is plenty of territory to cover.
Another review here indicates bad customer service. I did not experience this. In fact, there was a hand written welcome note in the room, and I received text messages asking how they could help to make the stay more memorable. The staff was also helpful when I asked the best places to shop in Greenville where I could find unique items and not chain store ones. They also reached out via text to see if we wanted turn down service because we had left the “resting” sign on the door.
If you like a clean, quiet, unique hotel experience, Hotel Hartness will not disappoint.

We just celebrated a 50th birthday with girlfriends at Hotel Hartness. This resort is a hidden gem and we loved everything about it. The decor is luxurious and stunning. The guest rooms are lovely, spacious, comfortable and feature Molten Brown bath products. The service was outstanding. Christiana at the front desk was extremely friendly and accommodating, Albert was an excellent communicator prior to our arrival and our server at Pattersons was kind, funny and on top of taking care of our party of 8 in the private wine room.
The dining at Pattersons also exceeded our expectations. All the starters and entrees were fresh and flavorful. The strawberry burrata salad and the tuna entree were personal favorites. We brought our own Harry Styles themed birthday cake ☺️ and when they brought the cake out they had a Bluetooth speaker playing one of his songs. We got such a kick out of this extra special touch of their own doing. The grounds are beautiful, green and immaculately kept. They had bikes available and golf cart shuttles if needed also. We did not get to visit the spa unfortunately. We spent time by the pool and our bartender/server there was also wonderful and attentive. It was a quick trip but we all agreed we will definitely return to this property and will recommend it to friends & family! Thank you Hotel Hartness for a memorable celebration!

The pros: Beautiful property, excellent experience at Pattersons (we are vegetarian and were really well accommodated), security guards were so friendly and helpful. The bartender made excellent drinks!
The cons: bikes were few and only 1 size which limited use for people of varying heights (we were looking forward to bike riding on the trails but could not), breakfast should either be elevated to include a more European influenced breakfast or removed all together (felt like a motel continental breakfast and not up to par for a resort that charges a $30+tax resort fee).
The front desk was friendly, but seemed like they lacked experience with hospitality in comparison to other 4 star resorts.

I went to Hotel Hartness for a convention. From the moment I checked in, the service was great. The room was spacious, well-appointed and lovely. The balcony in my room overlooked the pool and woods and had comfy furniture. The conference facilities were very nice, including one conference room where they opened the back wall to let in fresh air. The bartender was fantastic, and we really enjoyed cocktails in the outdoor common area. In the morning I walked the trails and visited the greenhouse. Breakfast buffet was good and a bariata was there to make yummy coffee drinks. It is a new facility and they really thought about all the details. Highly recommend.
