The staff member was able to put me in a high floor because I tend to have trouble sleeping if I can hear things at street level. The view was actually beautiful. There are elements of the room that make it seem a bit outdated but nothing too drastic (I.e. the Fabrice of the couch was starting to unravel at the seams, older looking countertops, etc). Bed was comfy and breakfast was good.

For starters, I am a revenue/market research analyst for a different hotel management company; and I have wanted to work in the hotel industry ever since I was 6 (the hotel industry is my autism induced special interest).

One of my lifetime travel goals is to stay in at least 1 hotel of every brand in the US and document it, and I kicked off that journey here at the Hyatt Place Greenville Haywood, which was an AmerSuites when I was little and wanted to stay there while AmeriSuites was a brand.

The staff honored my room location request easily, and honored my request to be notified when the room was ready. The Gallery Host in the purple shirt did an amazing job handling my dinner request of chicken tenders, fries, ketchup, and a Peruvian chocolate brownie from the Placery. This is clutch because eating out has a million potential autism sensory triggers that I was not in the mood to deal with that day.

Although the room renovations are completed and my suite was absolutely spotless in cleanliness, my only frustration was the lack of plugs near the work desk (or if they existed they were not invisible enough for me to find and plug in my laptop to work for a few minutes).

Now I absolutely LOVE how the sink is separated from the toilet/shower, the Cozy Corner couch is a perfect replacement for an actual desk and desk chair when working (especially if I bring my lap desk and a strip cord). Besides, I usually work from a recliner with a back cushion and lap desk or a padded chair with a card table so the Cozy Corner probably reflects my usual work habits more than the typical desk does.

On the neutral side, this hotel has window climate controlled thermostats, one pro being that my heat sensitive self could lower the temperature to like 64.

Now in terms of room decor, it is completely beige and other muted colors to where it would exactly fit the “Sad Beige baby growing up without bold colors” but I blame Hyatt corporate for this, not the hotel, hotel’s franchisee, or the hotel’s management company for the lack of interior color in the suites.

Now onto breakfast, it is unique vs most other brands per brand standard so you will either welcome the change or walk to the Spinx. If you like healthy foods at hotel breakfast like Canadian Bacon, scrambled eggs that a team member prepared, french toast, potatoes of some sort, etc. then this is right up your alley. But if you are looking for sweet pastries like muffins and waffles, they don’t exist at Hyatt Places.
The Canadian Bacon was wonderful and tasted like Ham and the French toast was a treat.

This hotel had zero autism sensory triggers from my experience. If you are the type that Hyatt Place is designed for, you will absolutely love this hotel and this brand period.

We drove up to see the front door inaccessible due to construction. Around back all the windows were covered with plastic. Not sure what we were getting into. But we were greeted with very nice staff at the front desk. Inside was just fine. A lot of construction noise during the day but we were gone mostly. Night was quiet, well, except for the dogs they apparently allow. We say four large dogs that evening in the hall. The hotel had a notice to patrons beforehand about the construction but we booked through Expedia and were not forewarned. We had a very nice roomy king bed suite with living area. The TV was on when we came into our room playing a soothing sounding advertisment program to the hotel. The staff gave us several recommendations for local restaurants and we enjoyed a popular one that was very close. Enjoyed relaxing that evening in the room watching a movie. The bed was very comfortable. We were happy to find out check out was at 12 on Saturday as we were in town for a 2:00 wedding. So we had time to get ready and not have to wander around town until the wedding. We like that the sink is separate from toilet and walk-in shower so two people could use the bath at the same time. Breakfast had a variety of hot options and was good. This hotel was just off interstate and easy to find. We would use again but probably book directly.

I am disappointed in Hyatt for this stay. Upon arrival, I had 1 toiletry of shampoo on the bathroom counter, no soap, nothing else. 2 adults staying initially for 4 nights had 2 wash cloths and 2 towels. If I wanted other toiletries or towels I had to go to service desk to swap them out. I'm not on the payroll.

On check we were greeted by Ms. Mary a lovely lady. But we asked her about breakfast and what was told to us was very untrue. It was not a lovely breakfast served at this location. Not compare to other hotels we have stayed at during this Covid situation. We left this hotel to head to Charlotte NC and the Marriott Resident Inn (Ms Shirley) we stay at could for sure teach this hotel company a lot!!!! The fact that one of the elevators were not working in a six story hotel is inexcusable. Not once did we see any company there working on this issue from Friday February 11-13, 2022 while we were guest here. And on top of that a hotel staff member told my husband and I that they constantly have issues with the elevators when one gets fixed the other one goes out. The one that was working we were always concerned with the door closing slowly and hoped never to get stuck inside going up or down in it. Then you add that we had our Maltese whom I carry into and out of the hotel being on the fifth (5) floor was not the best floor to be on. I can tell you this right now I told your manager at check out that I was going to write a review regarding our stay. Even though my husband approached her on our first day there and she ignored his comments. But when I said something at check out I got a phone call and she emailed my husband wanting then to try to fix what she had no intention of addressing when we were there. As for the breakfast it’s a joke. Dry cereal they had boiled eggs they had French toast laying open on a heated server just opened not covered. Mary told us at check in it was a lovely hot breakfast well I don’t know what she considers lovely but that was totally missed by a huge mark. We also went down with dirty towels and at the end of our first day they still didn’t have fresh clean face cloths. This place is a dump and I would not recommend you stay here. Go somewhere else. I have stayed at the best Hotels across the world this was the worst I have ever stayed in. Never going back to another Hyatt property because of this experience. Just HORRIBLE!!!
This video I’ll share is how a hotel chain does it right. It’s the Marriott Residence Inn Charlotte NC Piper Glenn location where Ms. Shirley could teach this Hyatt some lessons on serving a great breakfast.

This location needs to be closed for about a month or 2 for serious renovations. Inside, this hotel is falling apart. Not a good look for a Hyatt. One of the elevators, while I was inside attempting to come to the first floor, got stuck on the 3rd floor. Luckily the door opened and i was able to get off, otherwise my story would have became even more interesting. The rooms that I was given, and yes I said rooms, were subpar to say the least. The first room unfortunately I was unable to enter due to the room key not working. But I requested a change because it was right across from the elevator. The second room I was given was a nightmare. Firstly the toilet would not flush. Second, this same toilet had pubes and urine all around and under the seat. The couch inside the room was ripped and the innards were exposed. I requested a different room; the third room was decent but outdated. I also noticed that this room contained zero time telling devices (clock, alarm, etc.). The TV was old, and there were drilled holes exposed underneath the vanity. Weird. Breakfast was subpar also. French toast sticks were all burned, sausages were very greasy, and coffee was more like brown water. Front desk staff, upon checkout, asked me how my stay was. When I stated that It wasn't good, I was given the response of "oh ok." In conclusion, this hotel needs major renovations.

We like staying at Hyatt Place hotels when we travel as a family whenever possible as the pull out couch is a great option for my kids who refuse to sleep in a bed with anyone else, especially each other. We get to our room about 10 pm. We ordered a late dinner to be delivered and decided to make up the couch bed while we waited for delivery. We rolled the ottoman out of the way so we could pull the couch out and lying right there in the middle of the floor were 2 obviously used toothbrushes. It made us feel immediately like the room hadn’t been properly cleaned because if they would have moved the ottoman at all, they would have seen those toothbrushes. I decided to check the pullout bed before I called the front desk to make my complaint. The sheets on that bed looked extremely wrinkled and used. I called the front desk to tell them about the toothbrushes and didn’t get much of any response at all. Not an “I’m sorry” or even an “okay” … just sort of a grunt like it was no big deal. I know everyone that is working these days is overworked and dealing with added stresses on a normal basis. I knew it wasn’t the person on the phones “fault” but a little bit of empathy would have at least been nice. I decided not to press it and moved on to the sheets. I was told that the room had been cleaned and inspected so the sheets were clean. I thought they would surely understand my doubt after finding the toothbrushes on the floor. The gals reply was that if I wanted an extra sheet, blanket and pillow I could come to the front desk and get one. My husband went down and ending up returning with her. Apparently he complained a bit more and she said she’d move us to a different room , but there was only “one other room open and it’s not that nice of a room.” So she came to the room to pick up the toothbrushes for us. Again … she came in, grabbed the toothbrushes and walked out … still no sign of empathy at all. We made up the bed and our food came soon after. We ate and had left overs. I opened the fridge to put them in there … and found left over cheese in there from the precious guest. I still feel like only half of our room was actually cleaned. I tried getting in a virtual chat with someone at Hyatt that night and also called and waited on hold. I gave up after about a half hour on hold. Like I said, I know life is difficult right now and we are all doing the best we can to keep our heads up but I honestly expect more when staying at a Hyatt hotel.

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent stay at our property. I deeply apologize for the issues that you faced with the cleanliness of the room and especially the issues with the sofa bed. These issues are not our standard and I would of felt the same way if I were in your shoes. I will be working closely with my executive housekeeping team to address the cleanliness issues that you reported and ensure that they do not happen again. I will also work with my front desk team to ensure that we are providing top notch customer service to our guests.

I generally stay at this location or the downtown location. I am aware that the downtown location is much better because of it being newer. There were more than usual people staying at the property this time and they had kids that stayed behind in the rooms as their parents or guardians went to work. It was hard trying to move throughout the location with several kids not wearing mask on the property.

Lidia greeted us and checked us in. She couldn’t have been any nicer and she made sure we were on the lowest floor possible when I mentioned our dog was 14 yrs old. The room was very clean, you could smell how clean it was, as well as the towels and bed linens. The hotel is undergoing remodeling and we heard some noise above us at when we arrived at 4pm but it was quiet all night and up until we checked out at 9:30 am. The bed was very comfortable and we missed breakfast so I can’t comment on that. Arlene checked us out and she was also very kind and helpful and gave us 2 bottles of water for our ride. We didn’t experience any inconveniences due to the construction as others had mentioned. We had a great 1 night stay and will definitely use this hotel again. Hopefully the remodeling is finished soon because I feel the price per night is a bit high for an older room not yet remodeled but I’m happy they are pet friendly.
