Detailed Reviews
We could not have asked for a better location. This motel is right on the main highway and just minutes away from ALL the hiking, biking and kayaking areas, as well as the town of Wellsboro. One day we woke up to rain, so we took a quick 45 minute drive up to the Corning Glass Museum in Corning NY. It's the largest glass museum in the world and really blew us away. And, again this motel was so close! The motel owners have done a wonderful job of providing a pretty back area complete with huge fishing pond, fire pit, and area for kids to play. They provide a home cooked breakfast for those who wish, and each room comes with a good sized mini fridge and microwave. There's good water pressure in the shower. The owners have also provided a contactless refreshing of linens/towels if needed. The only negatives are that the beds are saggy but worse are the thin flat slabs of rubber encased in slippery pillow cases that are intended to pass for pillows. They're horrible. Truly ....the worst pillows, ...ever. Bring your own pillows!!

Thank you for your review and kind words about our property. If you ever need anything while staying with us please ask. We could have gotten you a fluffier pillow without the protective plastic liner.

We have stayed in downtown Wellsboro before, but because of the pandemic a motel out of town seemed more appealing. The Colton Point Motel sits on a beautiful 8 acre property and has an amazing backyard with a small lake, a bathing beach, a pier for fishing, paddle boats, a fire pit, barbecue grills, swing sets and plenty of benches and outdoor furniture to sit on and relax with a good book. We had perfect weather during our stay, and we took full advantage of the picturesque surroundings.
The motel rooms were reasonably priced and had everything we needed, but the furnishings were quite plain. We also found the mattresses a bit too hard to be really comfortable.
The owners were very friendly and personable, and we appreciated that they cooked a good breakfast for us every morning. That was not included in the room price, but being able to eat there saved us a trip to Wellsboro.

This is an older style motel recently purchased by the new owners. The rooms are clean. The accommodations were very comfortable and each room has a fridge and microwave. The hotel property has a small pond outback with two paddleboat and a small beach area with a swimming area roped off. The grounds are well maintained and the owners John & Shannon go out of the way to make you feel welcome and like friends. Any of my questions or needs were quickly answered by John who takes pride in the motel. He is slowly renovating the property, it is a work in progress. There are 3 restaurants located within 3 miles of the motel and the Pa. Grand canyon rail trail is also about 2.5 miles away. If your looking for a peaceful stay in the Grand Canyon area I would recommend this motel.

John and his family were great hosts. The motel was occupied by several snowmobilers during our stay. He was very helpful in instructing everyone where to park to minimize congestion, as well as being a resource for info (we were new to this area). He worked hard to make sure a number of us had what we needed and were comfortable.
The room was clean and well-kept. I would recommend wearing slippers when it is cold out, but we were very comfortable with a good bed and pillows, spacious bathroom, mini-fridge, microwave and fresh coffee in the office each morning.
The owner seems to be a man of integrity. Our family will be returning to Colton Point Motel in the future.

Beautiful peaceful place to stay. Perfect for being close to most of the attractions or if you prefer, just to sit and read a book or go fishing either in Pine Creek across the street that is within walking distance, or out back in their pond. The owners are very accommodating and familiar with the area to assist with guiding you in the right direction should you ask as we did. They also make a great breakfast to start out your day. Our room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. We slept 8 hours a night no problem! The Wifi works great, Their pond is the cleanest most beautiful pond I have ever seen and there is also a beach. We had a family picnic there and it was so nice! Everything is there for your use, the firepit, a propane grill, a hammock and a picnic table plus a swingset for the kids! Bring your own wood for the fire and repellant for the gnats and mosquitos if needed (we didn't happen to need any this time)-that's it-the same as you would need for a campfire anywhere else. Good rooms, good food and great service. If you are a country person, you couldn't ask for more. We will be back.

Perfect spot!
Enjoyed my two nights at the motel. It was a great location for having fun at the PA Grand Canyon, affordable, clean, and the owners were very friendly. They showed me around and made sure I had everything I needed. I'm definitely staying here next time I'm in the area.

Economical two night stay at the end of summer. Great location for hiking West Rim Trail or biking the Pine Creek Rail Trail. Beds comfy, excellent breakfasts (extra charge). This is a place to retreat to if you want to avoid cell phones and internet; they do have wifi but it wasn't configured to work in my room #1. The property is very restful with pond, picnic tables, even a paddle boat on the pond. Very friendly owner/operators.
I will be back next year. My new favorite lodging in a favorite part of Pennsylvania.

First time here. Will be back again! Very friendly and nice and decent price. The weekend breakfast was great! What a nice convenience! Owners very nice and helpful and accommodating. Love the blackout curtains and simple nice decor. It is on a semi busy road but the back part is wonderful. With the fan on you can’t really hear the cars anyhow. Thanks for a nice stay

This is a very simple, clean, motel. What makes it special is the property and the people. It is easy to find, but hard to appreciate from the road. The grounds had different areas.. A fire pit, a table with a fireplace in it.. I'm sure there's a proper name for it, but I don't know what it is.. LOL Paddle boats, a little beach, different picnic tables and catch and release fishing. There is usually breakfast served, but due to covid, that was cancelled. Here's the thing,, they called us to let us know that it wouldn't be available. How's that for courtesy and consideration?... There was also no housekeeping because of covid, but they places baskets outside the rooms and replenished our towels as we needed. Top notch service and we would go back again

We stayed there during May 2020-2 adults and 3 teenagers plus a dog. It was the first time out during COVID. The staff are the nicest people, the hotel has comfortable beds, quiet, and clean. The grounds are nice, and the location is great. We had a take out breakfast due to COVID restrictions and the owners were super informative and helpful. We stayed for 2 nights to go stargazing and to ride bikes. We will definitely be back again!
