Detailed Reviews
Stayed in this lodge for two days and had a great experience. The owners are very warm and friendly and were responsive to emails, calls during the reservation. Breakfast is cooked fresh in their kitchen with a lot of love and served to guests. The lodge is located in the heart of the town with easy access to several eating places, hiking trails, grand canyon and many such spots within a few miles. The rooms are comfortable, clean and would make you feel at home. I would stay here again and would highly recommend this gem! Thank you!

We have been coming for over 20 years with a group from our outdoor club. We have seen quite an evolution in amenities - from bunk beds and shared bathrooms to many attractively furnished en-suite rooms. No a/c but open windows and fans help sleep comfort. The food is great and there is plenty of it. We have got to know Carol and Ed well over the years and always enjoy a welcome.
Depending on the time of year, you can hike or ski on trails accessed from the back of the Lodge or in other nearby areas. There is more hiking about 20 miles to the east along Route 6 in the Pine Creek Gorge and an outfitter there where you can rent boats or bikes.

We stayed for the first time at the Lodge. It was outstanding; the food, the room, the hosts and the location were all wonderful. We were able to cross country ski in the beauty of the north woods. It was our first but not our last trip there. The room was clean, comfortable and very nice. The food was outstanding. The hosts were friendly and made us feel welcome. Can't wait to return.

The Susquehannock Lodge is ideally situated adjacent to the Susquehannock State Forest. You can cross-country ski right from the lodge (or drive a short distance up the road to the Ranger station) and hook up with numerous backcountry trails. We have been making this trek to the Lodge every February (for many years) with a group of friends.
Snow was particularly bountiful this year, making for great conditions. But even in low snowfall years, it seems like this little area in Potter County almost always has snow, even when the surrounding towns do not. It must be in some sort of snow pocket!
The lodge is rustic and charming with various types of basic accommodations (from single rooms to a 3-bedroom carriage house). There is nothing frilly or fancy about the lodge (if that is what you are looking for) as it started as a place to house hunters, but it is warm, comfortable and a great value for the price. There is Wi-fi in the main lodge and in some rooms. Not all rooms have TV reception (if that is important to you.) Most people go to this lodge to enjoy the outdoors and the lack of TV is a plus in my book, as it enables you to disconnect and relax. Breakfast and dinner are included in the package. The food is good and hearty. The oatmeal at breakfast is so delicious. Also, you can also order a packed lunch for $6 to take out with you on the trail, which I find to be very convenient.
The owners and staff always make guests feel welcome and we always leave the Susquehannock Lodge feeling reinvigorated and refreshed.

15 years ago friends introduced us to the Susquehannock Lodge and we haven't missed a winter's vacation there since. And every once in a while we do a summer visit. We absolutely love the area and always stay at the Lodge. Hiking, biking, skiing, snowshoeing, geo-caching and even shopping in Wellsboro if you're so inclined. Cross country ski up the hill behind the lodge and do many trails or drive up to the ranger station and do 7 miles along the ridge, gradual downhill, back to the lodge. Downhill at Ski Denton which is just up the road. In the summer it's a hiker's paradise and biking on the Pine Creek rail trail is a must. Swim at Lyman State Park. The first week in July the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum has the Bark Peelers Convention and the old mill might be running - a scary sight!
The food at the lodge (Breakfast and dinner) is wonderful and the large fire place in the family room nicely compliments an evening movie, games or a good book. Bring you own brew or favorite wine and wish for nothing.

This lodge is a great place for a quilt retreat. Our group has been here annually for over 14 years and love it! Ed and Carol are wonderful hosts. Home cooked meals and desserts, beautiful country setting and so peaceful.Easy to find by car on route 6 in Potter County Pa aka "God's Country."
We use sun room to setup and sew all weekend. Perfect for a retreat of 12-15.

I only gave it 3 stars because of the pretty location, however, if it wasn't for the location I would have given 1 star.
The breakfast was nothing special, a little Dixie cup of store bought orange juice , watered down coffee, boring eggs and bacon with toast. No frills, a disappointment for the amount of money spent. What made it even worse was the hostess, she acted as if we were bugging her, didn't want to be bothered and she had a frown on her face, not welcoming at all. They advertise WiFi and dinner, but there was no dinner and no WiFi, no cable TV either. The icing in the cake was that we only got two towels, nothing extra.

What a lovely place base for outdoor activities. Just minutes from hiking, biking, and canoeing in the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania and located along historic Route 6, this place is a real gem. There's even a trail right behind the lodge that leads to the Susquehannock Trail. It's clean and very comfortable. The food is outstanding. There's even free WiFi. Carol and Ed are wonderful hosts.

Four of us, one couple and two singles, stayed here four nights. We had dinners and breakfast, and were given lunches for the trail. All four dinners were different, and we always had choices for breakfasts. The food was plentiful, and quite delicious. We got help in planning our hikes from Ed, and enjoyed the company of both hosts. We would recommend this to every traveler.
