The front desk staff, made our check in smooth on a rather stressful freshman move in day. The room was clean with great views of the lake, garden and terrace from our balcony! They recommended a great dinner spot and we had an enjoyable evening. The reason this hotel didn’t get a 5 is almost laughable in the ridiculousness of it but here it is. We came back from dinner, grabbed a drink from the bar and the bartender told us that coffee is complimentary so if we want to come back for a cup a hot pot will be waiting. We took him up on the offer and came back down and grabbed a cup each. I don’t drink dairy milk so I was prepared to drink my coffee black making an assumption that they probably didn’t have oat milk. My husband had to ask for creamer since no milk was set out and while he was waiting on the creamer he asked if they also had any oat milk. There was a female at the register who was not there earlier and she chimed in that they did not have oat milk and offered me an option of soy or almond to which I declined. So while my husband is getting his creamer, she prolongs the conversation by coming around and apologizing that they don’t have any and she’s been working on it and hopes by our next visit that oat milk will be an option. We laughed a little about the lack of places that offer it and my husband and I headed up to the room.

When we got to the room, he looks at me and says - that was so bizarre that she blatantly lied like that. I asked him what he meant and he said she said no just as the bartender opened the fridge and he saw the oat milk right in front (which was the only reason he even bothered to ask for it). He said he didn’t call her out because he didn’t want to make a scene and just let it be. I am assuming the bartender didn’t want to call his co-worker out or he was in on the no share conspiracy but either way he also kept quiet about it. I on the other hand was bothered by it. Did she want to take the milk home to her own family or had plans to share it only with VIP guests?! Such a silly lie and I couldn’t figure out what would be the rationale behind it.

The next morning we go down and there is another man behind the bar and we get our coffee, my husband once again asks if they have oat milk and he says “oh yeah, we always have it on hand and we use a great brand, so if you haven’t tried it before you may want to add it to your list!” He proceeded to pull out the same bottle my husband saw the night before, and handed it to me to add to my coffee. If that’s not the epitome of a difference between night and day, I don’t know what is. So yes, something so petty is what ends up sticking out to me the most about what otherwise was a great hotel stay. I write this so that management can make sure the staff gets the memo that even the little things matter and can change someone’s experience from great to just good.

We head back to the area next month and I’ve opted to stay elsewhere with the hope we don’t have any awkward and completely unnecessary exchanges like this.

I attended The Inn for a family wedding. At check in, their team discovered there was a problem with the reservation that may have cost me the room for the night (not the hotel's fault). Maxime at the front desk was beyond helpful during that situation and was able to accommodate me despite the mistake. He impressively assembled his team and coordinated a room out of thin air - it was a miracle! Also, the young woman at check out, Anya, was a further reflection of the hotel's excellence. She handled my questions with poise and just really impressed me with her professionalism. Great hotel! (P.S. I also had one of the best cappuccinos of my life in the hotel's very impressive and functional café).

We really enjoyed staying at the Inn at Villanova University. The lobby and our room were clean and attractive. The beds were very comfortable. When we checked in, the front desk host was extremely pleasant and helpful. The parking is plentiful. The location is perfect--close to the university and to restaurants. My favorite thing about the inn is the natural setting. It is located next to a fountain and garden, which was beautiful even when the trees and flowers had not yet bloomed. I feel like the entire inn, including the room, reflected this peaceful, natural setting.

I recently held a 30th birthday party at the Montrose house, part of the Inn at Villanova University. It was expensive but we splurged for this special occasion. While the house is beautiful, the food was not good and there were surprise fees. If you are considering an event here, be sure to hire an outside caterer and be sure to nail down all potential additional charges to your contract. For example, while the contract said that we were entitled to use all the a/v equipment without specifying what was included or excluded, the manager said that only the monitor above the bar came with the mansion rental. He wanted an additional $300 for use of a monitor in the main dining room. There was a surprise bartender fee too. The management of the Inn refunded me a small amount after many emails, but I would not host there again nor recommend the Inn to others. We were very disappointed in the event.

The hotel was just meh. Nothing special other than it’s the closest hotel to Villanova. The staff were less than friendly. We arrived early - around noon - and were told no rooms were available (understandable) but that we couldn’t even complete any paperwork or anything for registration (strange). When we returned at 5, rooms were ready but our request for 2 rooms next to each other was not met. We were told there were no rooms next to each other so our kids would need to sleep in a completely separate hallway. After asking if we could cancel our stay so we could find a hotel with closer rooms together, they magically found two rooms across from each other but only after 4 room assignment attempts because the front desk person could not understand that the rooms ending in 13 and 14 were not next to each other but at opposite ends of the hotel because of their numbering system. I’m still confused as to how she didn’t understand where rooms were located at the hotel. The rooms themselves were just fine. Nothing special, nothing terrible. Just a basic hotel room. While the hotel is a short drive from Villanova, there’s really nothing else close by the hotel. If you need to be in the area, it’s fine, but everything is just meh.

Checked in tonight, room seemed ok. As I opened the bed to go to sleep a bug crawled out. I killed it and brought the remains to the front desk, and the man grudgingly got me a new room. I changed rooms in the middle of the night (after unpacking) and went to sleep. While sleeping, I woke up with a bug crawling on me. I captured it and brought it to the sleeping person at the front desk. She declined to change rooms and told me I had no choice but to stay in my room as she did not want to help me. I ended up sleeping in the lobby until the manager came and put me in room #3.
Avoid this place at all costs, horrible customer service, bugs, and their restaurant was closed so no dinner or food at all.

Dear Ms. Denise R. Thank you for providing your feedback. We are deeply sorry for your inconvenience. The hotel is centrally located in the middle of lush landscape that has large gardens and many trees. The brown marmorated “stink bug” is a common bug in our area. It does not bite or sting and is harmless to humans and pets. The INN is fortunate to have private patios for each sleeping room. On the occasion of a guest opening the outside door, there is a rare possibility of a bug entering. We apologize for your encounter. We will share your valuable comments with the team to continue improving our service. Our director has had several conversations with you since your departure to rectify your concerns. We hope to regain your confidence for a future stay.

The Inn is stunningly situated amid towering trees and meticulous landscaping. The architecture is appropriate to the setting. Kudos for that alone!
Nicely decorated rooms are a generous size, all with balconies for true enjoyment of the environs. Bathroom is well light with the usual bath-related amenities. Good shower.
There is drink service until 10 pm. Breakfast has simple offerings. Urned coffee is available by 7 am.

Positives: Front desk staff was friendly and allowed me to check in early. Room was nicely decorated. Not so positives: Amenities list a cafe on the property, but it was very small and no staff came out even though it was open. I didn’t have my car, so I ubered to a place for dinner. The property is not walkable to any restaurants, shops.

Based on all the favorable reviews, I decided to take a chance and book a stay at the Inn at Villanova and my expectations were exceeded! First and foremost, the staff is fantastic! I had lost my confirmation prior to arriving and within moments of emailing the Inn at Villanova, I received an email from Kwang confirming my reservation.

I was greeted warmly upon arrival by Toni who gave me a fabulous room. I had the best night's sleep! The staff really go above and beyond for their guests. I had an issue opening up the blinds. Called down to the Front Desk and literally within 5 minutes, Andrew appeared and fixed my blinds. Special thanks yous to Toni, Patty, Andrew, Kwang, Katima and Kebba. I had the most delicious egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast there. The grounds are so beautiful and serene behind the hotel. I highly recommend this property. The hotel is clean and my room was spacious and clean. I loved the products in the bathroom.

Thank you for a lovely stay! Hope to return!
