Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

Reviews summary

The DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Philadelphia West has faced criticism for its cleanliness, with guests reporting finding items left in pullout couches and delayed room readiness. The condition of the rooms, suffering from mold, poor upkeep, and dated aesthetics, has left many travelers displeased. Although the food and staff have received some praise, the amenities are a point of contention due to maintenance issues.
Visitors often feel the hotel does not provide adequate value, highlighting the need for renovations. The service experience is hit-or-miss, with staff responsiveness varying greatly. Despite some remnants of charm, the overall atmosphere is hindered by an outdated vibe and a perceived lack of professionalism.

Detailed Reviews
We arrived at 8 pm and were shown to Room 503. The room was impossibly hot. We tried to adjust the thermostat but it didn't help. Complained to desk, they said they would check into it; we waited in the lobby. We were told the hotel was fully booked and no other room available. After an hour, we insisted that a staff member come to the room and she verified that it was so hot that it would be impossible for someone to sleep in the room. More waiting around.....finally we were given room #440; a king bed room when we had booked 2 queens, so we packed up our stuff from 503 and moved to 440 where the temperature was fine but we noticed that there were no bathtowels. By then it was midnight. The desk said that they were out of bathtowels but were expecting a delivery in an hour and would bring towels up to us. We did not want to be disturbed so they said they would leave them by the door so we would have towels in the morning. Of course, there were no towels in the morning! When we asked for a discount because of the inconvenience, the fellow at the desk said he couldn't give a discount because he had to talk to his manager. Later he put on a sport coat and suddenly he was the manager and agreed to a discount. To be fair, this is a nice hotel at a fair price, rooms are spacious. If everything goes right, it would warrant a good review. BUT they don't seem to be able to handle a problem without compounding it to a ridiculous level.

We came here for a wedding, big mistake. The doors had a tape on the door saying it had been cleaned and sanitized. We found bobby-pins on the floor and ants in the bathroom. That’s bad enough but another room in the group had poop on the toilet seat. Disgusting.

I just wanted to give you some feedback of the hotel and our stay. First, the best thing about the hotel was the staff and most of them were quite pleasant. The hotel itself is pretty. However, upon getting to our room, there were zero towels, the toilet seat was literally falling off, the shower/tub was not in the best condition. The toilet seat was quickly fixed and we went and retrieved towels from the front desk. We stayed 3 days and had to get our own towels as needed. The room itself was not the cleanest and thankfully I had brought items to clean, just in case. The bathtub would over flow. Literally, if you did not stop the shower and take out the plug, the shower would over flow onto the floor. We took the plug out and you should never finish a shower without stopping to let the water drain.....hair would back up into the tub..not a pleasant experience. Then we asked for a 12 check out and were refused. Not the best experience at a hotel and we travel a lot.

Hotel's Favourite
We had a wonderful trip to Philly after the Holidays! Our stay at the Doubletree Suites Philadelphia West in Plymouth Meeting is the perfect place to stay. The location is terrific whether you are going into the City or visiting King of Prussia. It’s a beautiful hotel and the entire staff is extremely courteous and accommodating.
On this particular trip, LA and Gorjon at the desk, Khalia in the restaurant and Joyce at the bar really stood out. General Manager Ryan really cares about his staff and the customers too. Everyone really went out of their way to make us feel special and ensure we had a great experience. The pricing is really fair and you can park for free - you should check it out!!!

We went for our honeymoon as a place to stay before our flight. I found blood on the sheets below the pillows like they hid it. Removed that layer of sheets and the entire next layer of bedding was basically yellow. On top of that, breakfast is not included and costs about 18/person after tax. You’d get a better cheaper breakfast anywhere else including McDonald’s. People were loud in the lobby through the night, and you can hear it in the rooms. The front desk I called a week in advance said she could setup up a shuttle to take us to the airport, or I can wait. So I waited, and low and behold, I was told that they don’t do that there. Only easy part was checking out and getting the hell outta there

Dear Desdill15, I am so sorry for the issue with your sheets. There is no excuse for not having unstained sheets on your bed. Thank you for making us aware so we can address this. While our breakfast buffet is not included standard, we do offer packages that include this amenity. I am also very sorry we do not offer airport shuttle, with our location being over 45 minutes from the airport, that is not a practical service for us to offer. We hope that you will try one of our sister hotels on your next visit to the area that better fits your needs. Thank you, Ryan Cimei GenerL Manager

Some cleanliness issues (toilet was very stained, shower ceiling had visible water damage). Hotel set up is a little outdated. But the bar/lounge area was nice and our room was a good size.
The $15 buffet breakfast was the same items and quality as many other hotels’ FREE continental breakfasts.

Never in my years of traveling have I been so disgusted by a hotel stay. I spent two nights at Double Tree this past weekend for my friend’s wedding.
The woman at check in Friday afternoon (tall, curly dark hair) was nice and accommodating. She checked me in & put me on the same floor as the bride & groom (I was the MOH). She let me know that if I wanted house keeping services during my stay I needed to request them because of Covid. I initially said that was fine and I wouldn’t need them.
I quickly deposited my things in my room and went to hang out with the couple. I didn’t get back to my room until after midnight and I didn’t get into bed until 1. It was at this time that I noticed a dirt splotch on the sheets. I thought it could potentially be a stain, but I pulled the covers back for a closer inspection and found multiple dirt splotches all over the bed. I also found over 20 little pieces of hair all over one of the pillows. I imagine the previous guest had just had a haircut and hadn’t showered after to get all the little hairs off. It was clear that the sheets had NOT been changed.
I called down to the front desk and told the woman working what happened. She apologized and said there wasn’t any house keeping at the moment but I said that if they could provide me with new linens, I could change them myself. She told me she could give me some if I came down to the front desk. So not only did I have to change my own bedsheets, I also had to go down to the front desk at one in the morning to get the new sheets. I changed my own sheets but I was so grossed out so I barely slept.
The following morning I went down to ask for housekeeping to clean the room while I was out at the wedding venue because the one who gave me the new linens hadn’t mentioned that at all, even though my room clearly had not been cleaned before my check in.
To add insult to injury, housekeeping knocked on my door and woke me up around 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning, even though check out wasn’t until 11.

Check in was smooth and did not have to wait at all. The representative thanked me for being a rewards member. Room and bathroom were clean. The room was very spacious and had two televisions, one in the bedroom area and one in the sitting area. The sitting area also had a sofa, chair, a desk with a task chair and a table with lamp. We did not use the other the fitness room so I cannot comment on that. I have no complaints here. Plus when you check in you are offered the warm cookies!

This hotel has some pretty areas, especially the indoor stairway. The problem with this hotel is the inconsistency regarding its quality. It is showing its age. When we checked in, I asked the desk clerk to add my husband to the room. She told me what was available including the $15.00 breakfast credit for up to 2 people in the room. Then we went to the room (746) and outside the door was left all the dirty laundry from cleaning the room earlier that day. My husband returned the luggage cart and told them about the laundry. Outside the room it was warm. Inside the room it never felt warm and no matter how we adjusted it, it still wasn't warm (we think it is electric heat and that is just how it is. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning we went to eat breakfast in the hotel. Tuesday morning, there was no one there to cook our eggs to order, but still charged the same amount. When we checked out this morning, I checked the statement and it gave just one person a $15.00 credit onTues, Wed, and Thurs. I brought this to the attention of the desk clerk and she.stated that the 2nd person was not listed on the room. I told her I had given the info when I checked in. Then she told me that it had to be on the original reservation to get the additional daily $15.00 credit. I told her I was lifetime Diamond and never had this experience. She was syrupy sweet but never tried to get a manager to reconcile this issue. I am a business traveler and have been assigned this area. I will not return to this hotel and will recommend to my company that employees do not stay here.

Too many problems starting from the first moment we entered room 414 & poor handling/communication.
1. Closet door handle screw missing & loose
2. Closet door track had 2 screws missing and nearly impaled my tall husband on several occasions. Took 2 days to get fixed.
3. Broken entry door light switch cover
4. Bathroom lightbulb out. Took 2 days to get fixed.
5. Musty/mold smell in room
6. TV remote in living room not working
7. Phone was able to ring from front desk call 2x, but when answered, front desk was unable to hear us
8. Clogged toilet was not unclogged while we were out despite telling front desk prior to leaving. It flooded the bathroom after we got back. Maintenance came to unclog the toilet and threw a towel over the wet bathroom floor. (Hispanic repairman, Ira, unable to communicate who to ask to clean the floor in English). We had to go back to the front desk to ask for housekeeping to mop the floor with disinfectant at 2-3am.
9. Unable to get new clean towels after above clogged toilet fiasco due to hotel full & front desk saying they had spoke to Housekeeping multiple times.
10. Unable to lower temperature of room/ Thermostat not working
11. Uncomfortable mattress
12. A mist for a shower

I believe it was 15-16$ a person for adults. They did have the continental option available if you ask for it,
which I got one day for about half the cost. It is not an extensive buffet but it was adequate. They do not make omelettes or eggs to order. I enjoyed the oatmeal and toppings. The price was reasonable and the food as varied enough. I think you will enjoy it.
