This hotel is in a great location right next to the parks and river walk. Gets a little busy on game days but overall a great value. Friendly staff, breakfast was great. I would stay again. The only complaint is the freeway right next to the hotel was quite loud. Also the gym area is very small. But for a hotel in the city, it’s not too shabby.

I chose the Holiday Inn North Short because it was an easy walk to PNC Park. The rate and parking fee was very much in line with other hotels in the area. The parking lot was under the I-279 and the $25 daily fee allow you unlimited in and out privileges. Just use you room card to access the entry gate. The lobby is spacious and welcoming. The breakfast area is also open and very spacious which allow you to enjoy your breakfast without being seated on top of other guests. They do serve a hot breakfast consisting of eggs and a meat along with gravy. The breakfast attendant did a good job of keep the breakfast area clean and well stocked throughout the advertised time. They do not offer daily house keeping but will provided replacement towel, and other amenities if needed. I you require housekeeping you can schedule it but you must vacate your room for the time that it take to service your room. The staff were very professional and made every effort to make sure that I had an enjoyable stay. The WiFi can be a little slow and spotty at times, as I was kicked off a few times during my stay but that was just a minor issue. This Holiday Inn is located on Federal Street and is right up against the I-279 freeway, so you should expect some road noise but in my room on the second floor it wasn't a problem for me. Just about everything you want is located within an easy walk. The Andy Warhol Museum is almost directly behind the Holiday Inn, while the Heinz Museum is a little over a mile walk across the Roberto Clemente Bridge. It's also just a short walk along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail to Point Park, the site of old Fort Duquesne and the Fort Pitt museum. Overall I enjoyed my stay and will return the next time I am in town for a Pirates Game.

Very pleasant check-in, friendly and helpful. Seems they take COVID19 seriously. Room was very clean and spacious. There were no drawers for clothes though. There is a very high $250 incidental fee. Parking is $24 a day right next to hotel under bridge (not in a garage). Our room was facing interstate and it was very noisy ALL night. To-go bag breakfast is water, 2 granola bars, muffin, green apple, and coffee. Can also get a cinnamon roll. No hot water for tea or juice or milk. Near stadiums and bridges. We walked everywhere. I would stay here again, just on other side of hotel away from interstate.

First I want to thank Jessica at the hotel for getting me to the hotel after the Garmin GPS took me over the Allegheny and Ohio Rivers at least 7 times before I got frustrated and called for help. The on site parking under the highway was nice and was worth the $25 a day. The staff in general were pleasant and helpful.
The room was clean and looks like they've been renovated. Small room fridge looked new but it had no thermostat. Fridge could have been colder but no freezer compartment which comes in handy to freeze ice packs or whatever for traveling. There was also no room safe and the indoor pool was small but cozy....lol
No hot breakfast due to Covid guidelines but you did get bagged breakfast which was an apple, packaged muffin, granola bar and a bottle of water. The hotel does charge your credit card for incidentals but it's returned upon checkout if you have none.
PNC Bank stadium (Pittsburg Pirates) is right across the street and The North Shore Tavern across from the stadium had good eats.
My room was next to the highway, literally next to it. See picture. It was a bit noisy.
If you like artwork by Andy Warhol, the museum about a block away is worth checking out.

I am loyal to IHG and a Spire member. I to Pittsburgh weekly for work and have been a faithful, frequent customer at this hotel. My most recent check in on 3/17 was awful. I was advised that check in that I was the only customer that was checking in for the evening. The woman behind the desk let me know that housekeeping standards were not what I would be used to, as there would not be a housekeeper on each floor during this day. When I got into the hotel room and showered from the plane trip, there was no soap in the dispenser inside the shower. I was provided with one small bar of soap and that was enough to shower for the evening. The next day, after coming back in from work, the hotel room had not been cleaned, there were no fresh towels and also no new toiletries. There seemed to be no one at the hotel that could provide any of these items for me. When I checked out on the 19th, I asked to be reimbursed for the last night due to no service. The man behind the desk was quite apologetic and said he would have the manager contact me. To this day, I have not heard from the manager. I understand in our new economic times, it is potentially not possible to refund me for a night’s stay. Understood. But it’s absolutely unreasonable that the manager could not call me to at least apologize for the stay that I had. I was told, when I called two days later, that I would be awarded 5000 points. Also to this day, I have not received those 5000 points. I would love the remedy of receiving at least 25,000 points so that I can be compensated in that way for my one night of a miserable stay. I was typically an every week customer there. They will not have to worry about dealing with me again. I will not be back.

I have stayed here multiple times over the years. I know it gets crowded and hectic on game days, but this past stay was the absolute worst. At 3 pm (normal check-in time), we were told it would just be a little while because the rooms were not done being cleaned and that they had a full hotel the night before. They said they would call us when a room was ready. At 4 pm, the room was still not ready, and we were told it would be a few minutes. Not ready at 4:30 pm either. The lobby was full of people waiting for rooms. We were told we could put our luggage in a back room, but we noted that the back room was not supervised, and people were walking in and out of it at will. Our room was finally ready shortly before 5 pm. We were in time for the game, but we missed all the pregame activities on the Riverwalk. Not acceptable!! Our queen "suite" was 2 queen beds with some empty space and an old small couch. We spilled a few drops of water on the floor, and went to wipe it up with a tissue. The tissue came up completely black. The floor was filthy. Our room bordered the highway, and the traffic noise all night was awful. At 9 am the next morning, I notified the front desk that there was no hair dryer in the room. (My friend did not notice until she came out of the shower with wet hair.) They said someone would bring one up. No one ever did. At 10:30 am we had to borrow one from another room on our floor. We missed breakfast while waiting for a hair dryer that never came. At checkout, we were told we could not have a printed copy of our bill because the computer was broken. The whole experience here was horrible and unacceptable. The ONLY nice thing about the stay was the staff. The poor gentlemen at the front desk were friendly. They kept calm and were apologetic as multiple people grew angry at the check-in situation and there were long lines of people complaining. Those two gentlemen deserve a raise.

This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel. Its very clean with a friendly staff. The rooms are spacious and have everything we need.

Parking is available adjacent to the building by the overpass for $24 a night.

It is also walking distance to the Heinz field.

This trip we stayed in a room next to the freeway and I barley slept.

I will come back again but will request a different view.

Hi FloridaGyrl, I'm glad you chose our hotel for your visit to Pittsburgh. Thank you for staying. We are all about providing service that is without hassle and complication. I'm sorry you've experienced minimal sound insulation in your room. I can see how the freeway noise contributed to a night of restless sleep. I believe feedback gives us the chance to be better and trust that I shared yours with the management for these areas to be worked on. On the bright side, I'm you found the hotel clean, staff friendly, room spacious, and location convenient. We appreciate your feedback about your stay and looking forward to your next travel. Many Thanks, Rein D Case Manager IHGService

Being right next to the PNC park and a very short walk across the bridge to downtown, the location is ideal. I consider the location even better than downtown hotels because our room and some of the other rooms at the hotel offers a view of the downtown skyline, something one cannot get when staying downtown. The rooms are great also. However, the hotel was quite full when we were there due to a football game, and the hotel had difficulty keeping breakfast items refilled during breakfast hours.

We stayed two nights in March 2022 - not a very busy time. If you're staying during a Pirates' home stand, I'm sure there's a whole other bunch of problems.
Plus: location (next to the baseball stadium, 10-minute walk from downtown, multiple restaurants nearby). Breakfast buffet, during our stay, included scrambled eggs and sausage. Heater worked just fine and hot water showed up soon enough. No complaint on cleanliness anywhere.
Minus: I should have looked for cheaper parking. Some street noise. Housekeeping is still doing the "we don't clean every night of your stay" routine.
If we go back, we'd probably stay here, but I'd look for other parking.

Excellent hotel. All!! The room was very clean and spacious. The beds were super comfortable and the shower had very hot water and good pressure. Breakfast is included in the price, it is complete and varied. The location is excellent, right next to the Pirates stadium and two blocks from the (free) North Shore subway station. Downtown across the bridge is a 5-minute walk away. The hotel has parking for $28/day, although there is a public parking next door for $15/day, which is cheaper if you are not going to move your car. But what I would like to HIGHLIGHT about this hotel is the staff that works there, and especially Eve. He is the friendliest, most professional and responsible person we have EVER met in a hotel, and we have already traveled many years for quite a few years. I wanted to personally thank Eve for the excellent care and family treatment she gave us. He made our stay at the hotel unforgettable.
