On the posiitve side, the bed and pillows were quite comfortable. I often dislike hotel pillows as they are either too flat or filled with foam that I cannot manipulate into a comforatlbe position, but these were great. Water pressure in the shower was also good and bathroom amenities were fine. Breakfast was totally adequate, wioth a hot selction of scrambled eggs, sausage patties, potatoes, and pancakes, although disposable plates and cutlery were used instead of washable items; a change from a previous visit. The location along the Monangahela River was pitcturesque, and it was right in the heart of the South Side development with lots of national chains, but also local restaurants along E. Carson St. 2 blocks south of the hotel.
The rooms are well arranged and private for a stay. There's a nice full kitchenette in the rooms, which helped with food and coffee. The workout room is very well equipped.
Breakfast was subpar at the time we were there, but the person hosting it was really friendly and efficient.
Negatives: nearly everything else. The room was much smaller than expected. The fold-out couch was awful, felt like it had no mattress at all. The HVAC in the room was deafening. The chairs in the kitchen were as uncomfortable as any I've ever sat in. The weird built-in chair next to the TV served zero purpose and was wildly uncomfortable as well.
Breakfast was terrible. When we first arrived (40 mins before breakfast ended), all hot dishes were gone. Took 10 mins to refill. The hashbrown things were still frozen in the center. Eggs were unidentifiable as eggs. Even my kids who are not discerning passed on nearly everything.
The main elevator was out of service, and the first-floor bathrooms were constantly closed for maintenance/cleaning.
Overall, a very disappointing stay.
Cons: If you are used to softer mattress or have some back problems, stay clear of this hotel as the mattresses are very hard and uncomfortable. I was constantly waking up turning and tossing the whole night trying to find a comfortable position. I was traveling with others and got the same feedback from all of them with some of the older folks complaining about back aches. The discomfort was more than the usual when one sleeps in a different bed than yours. The parking garage is a bit small and has many double parking spaces that require you to leave the key if blocking, but I was always able to park in the garage. If staying for more than 3 days, the complimentary breakfast can get old quickly due to lack of variety. I stayed for a full week and the warm breakfast always contained scrambled eggs. They varied sausage patties, bacon, potatoes and chicken sausage links sides every other day, but it would have helped to have hard boiled eggs, ham, cheeses and other fruit salads besides the cantaloupe and honeydew mix. Sliced breads, bagels cereals, oranges and bananas were always part of the offering. Coffee and tea are included, but the coffee was horrible. The room is cleaned up only if requested in advance. It would be nice if they did it as prior to COVID, or at least every other day. Prices before and after COVID do not reflect this drastic reduction of room clean up.
"Specifically ask if there is an outdoor event going on during your stay. Say you want to talk to event staff is front desk is dodging you."Read full review
"Parking could be an issue. Loading area arrival Check-In is also limited. Rooms could use bit TLC, but overall, a fantastic stay w/location."Read full review
"You may get double parked in the self parking if that is the case the person who double parks needs to handover their keys to the Desk."Read full review
