Pros: Employees are friendly and nice. Indoor/outdoor pool is pretty. Bar/ restaurant and bistro were good. Lobby looks bright and pleasant. There are lots of conference rooms.
Cons: A/C vents had a very nasty sweaty sock smell. Thankfully we had Febreze and sprayed it into the vents for temporary relief of that nauseating stench. In-room safe didn’t work. No microwaves in room. Not ONE working ice machine in the entire four building complex… not even in the lobby! Per other reviews, it has been this way for months.
Summary: The general public areas (lobby, pools, restaurants, conference rooms) have a resort-like atmosphere. The rooms need attention, not the maid service but more serious things like duct/vent deep cleaning. The room smelled so bad we even washed our clean, unworn clothes afterwards and scrubbed down the suitcases. This could seriously be a safety hazard.. this hotel could be so much better with more attentive management. Doubletree regional management should look into this. Large property in a perfect location, in need of better leadership.

This was my first stay at the DoubleTree in Green Tree. This is a very large property with multiple towers. The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating. At my request she gave us the closest available room to the swimming pool, gave us very clear directions about where to park for the most convenient access to our tower and room, and provided a map so we knew how to get to the pool. As is the norm, warm chocolate chip cookies were offered at check in.
There was ample parking and while it was quite a ways to our room, there were many luggage racks right at the door to make this trek easy. The room was comfortable and clean. There were luggage racks in the room and ample tables to set all our luggage on without anything needing to be on the floor. It was very easy to set up my Roku on the TV because it sits on a dresser.
The bathroom was a little cramped. There was little room between the toilet and the shower/bath, but it was clean and bright and everything worked well.
The swimming pool is fantastic here. While the pool room was actually really cold, the pool was perfect. It was very warm and comfortable. The indoor pool is 2.5'-5' making it perfect to just lounge around in or to swim for fun. It isn't a lap pool, but gets the best review of any pool I have been to outside of a specific resort destination.
I travel to Pittsburgh regularly and would absolutely choose this hotel again.

Beds were comfortable. Housekeeping was only fair. My granddaughter spilled hot chocolate on the sheet and housekeeper didn't change out the sheet for a new one. Just pulled the bedding up on bed- wasn't tucked in or really made. We also asked for additional conditioner because the container was empty but she never filled any of them. We did get some but had to personally stop her in the hall to get it. And she didn't restock the towels so we had to get towels from the front desk. Then, she didn't speak English or, if she did, it was very poor because she only understand words like towels/conditioner. For everything else we said, she just looked at us confused. She refilled the cups for the coffee maker but didn't refill the teabags or other supplies and there are only enough supplies for one use.
Hotel itself is a maze! We were in tower 3 and it was extremely confusing to find the right elevator to take. Need more and better signage or possibly a map at check in. Pool and hot tub area (and exercise room) were great - pool was clean and hot tub was HOT. Timer was broken so it just stayed on and had vigorous bubbles. Bistro had good pizza and was reasonably priced. Dining room was reserved for conference attendees.
Did not have cookies available as advertised and front desk was swamped most of the time so it wasn't worth waiting to ask. Also, the hotel was packed so parking was a nightmare. They also need more luggage racks to help take belongings to rooms or back down to car. They only had three and the only time we saw them was about 9pm at night. We ended up loading up our things and taking them down to the car then so we wouldn't have to carry everything out the next morning.

We really enjoyed this stay. The pool was neat—it had an indoor portion and an outdoor portion and you could swim between the two spaces. My kids loved that.
Checkin was quick and of course the cookies were a big hit. The fitness centre was big and clean.
The room was clean and quiet and the beds were comfortable. I liked that the whole hotel was surrounded by trees.

I am a Hilton Honors Diamond member and this year I have spent seven to eight weeks in various Hilton group hotels across the world. This is the first time I got a room with a dirty toilet. When I checked in I asked for an upgrade and was told that none of the larger unoccupied rooms were available because they couldn’t get them clean. In fact the only unoccupied room with two beds were on the far end of the hotel. Normally this is a non issue but I just got led surgery and I am on crutches. Let’s say the walk to the room was unpleasant. When I finally made it, I find a a room with a dirty toilet. I need a hotel that I can stay every other week on the West side of Pittsburgh; clearly that hotel won’t be this Doubletree.

That’s about it. Now, on to the bad (pull up a chair)…..
Although the beds were comfortable, the room itself was in terrible condition. Ripped curtains, a hole in the wall, filthy outlets, chewed up and peeling wallpaper, chipped up furniture, a filthy vent in the bathroom, mold in the shower, a rusty lamp with some sort of gunk dried on it, the handle to the bathroom was about to fall off, the ironing board was stained, a hole in a lampshade, and a smashed bug on the wall all point to shoddy maintenance and lazy housekeeping. See photos.
The elevators were also filthy with trash and food on the floor.
The friend I was traveling with is a Diamond member, and he used some of his points to pay for the two nights we were there. Needless to say he also wasn’t happy or impressed. Yeah, the unruly kids were a pain in the backside, but the condition of the room is inexcusable. There’s nothing anyone from the hotel can say to justify or put a positive spin on why the room was so run done (though I seriously doubt they care enough to even respond to this review).
Avoid.

Nice stay at this Doubletree Pittsburgh(Greentree) , This was a points redemption stay (30,000 pts.) Huge property going through a renovation however this did not impact our stay other than we were in a renovated room #1741. Friendly greeting at reception, acknowledged as Diamond member. Received water and cookies and off to our room. Huge property, divided into several conected buildings, so a bit of a walk to elevator that serviced our room. Lovely pool area facing a terraced hillside and surrounded by nice garden. Pool was being serviced as per hotel notice on website and just being refilled as we left. Room had been renovated. New shower, mirrors and lighting. Cabinet and counter top not. Room also had new carpet, lighting and headboard. However chairs were quite worn and furniture was in good condition but not new. Large t.v , great HVAC . Odd water stain on ceiling above t.v . Concrete ceiling, so unusual location. Comfy mattress. Used restaurant in morning. Great service from John and the lady at egg station, wonderful omelets and service (apologies for not knowing her name). Easy check out through app. Email receipt reflecting $18 x 2 for breakfast + gratuities minus $30 for hotel credit (Diamond status) Would definitely stay at this Doubletree again.

Despite having been to Pittsburgh dozens of time this was the first time in five years it was for business. We stayed here since it was the location of the meeting. As we planned our booking we perused some recent reviews and we’re concerned, many people had recorded negative comments of just about everything. We arrived the night before the conference and had the great pleasure of meeting Aje at the front desk. It gave us a great start to our visit. We did not run into any of the things that people complained about. The room was clean and quiet. Service throughout the hotel was prompt and gracious. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. We received great advice from Aje on where locals like to eat and visit. We extended our stay after our business was concluded. We did not have the room cleaned since whenever we stay for a period of time we take of things ourselves but every time we saw someone that we’re always accommodating and ensured we had everything we need. If you get a voice, try staying on the 5th floor since it has access and egress to the upper parking lot.

I requested a day rate so I could work while waiting for my transit. 1. Neither the front desk nor the reservation phone line knew about the day rate, even tho it is listed on the hotel's own website. I had to call THREE times before someone had a clue 2. When I arrived the person at the front desk couldn't find my reservation because the person who took it spelled my name wrong, even tho I had carefully spelled it for them. 3. After they found my reservation, they wouldn't give me the room key because they were unfamiliar with a day guest. 4. When their supervisor said it was OK, they gave me the key. I went up to the room and the key would not open the door. A woman from housekeeping was in the hall and she phoned for someone from maintenance to come. I waited and waited and no one came. Finally I called and someone came quickly. The battery in the lock was dead and was easily replaced. 5. I entered the room and it absolutely reeked of tobacco smoke even tho there are signs saying it's a 100% smoke free. I called the front desk and they really seemed to not care. They didn't make an apology and did not offer me another room. 6. The chair at the desk where I would be working was extraordinarily heavy and difficult to move. I'm sure it's fine for a strong 6'4" man, but as a small older woman it was quite uncomfortable. 7. I wanted some lunch. There are two restaurants, one apparently serves only breakfast and the other only dinner. There is a third space selling snacks, sandwiches, and pizzas. Sounds like it has potential, but it does not. The sandwiches are made only of meat and cheese, no veggies are included, no spread. The pizzas are also very sad. As for beverages, there are only bottled drinks in a large fridge. It was a joke. I was without a vehicle and could leave to seek a real restaurant. As Bette Davis said, what a dump.

Stayed over Thanksgiving 2021 and lounge was closed. Had notice on door applying for liquor license.
I wouldn’t stay there even if it was open. Service was lousy and no restaurant or lounge. Left a day early!
There are more places to choose from in the Pittsburgh area.
