Traveling during these times is interesting to say the least. This hotel is handling the covid pandemic well. They have temperature checks in place, lots of sanitizing stations, reduced capacity and social distancing measures. I say it’s a hit or miss because while my experience at the Fairmont was wonderful, I had a conversation with a fellow guest that was extremely upset.
It was my first time in the city and during my booking (I booked through the hotel’s website not a third party) I specified that I was in town to sightsee and all I wanted was a “very clean room” to stay in. The Fairmont delivered, upon arrival my room was clean, smelled fresh and I did not have any complaints.
The problem was when I encountered a guest in the elevator. He was extremely upset because he said he checked in only to find a pair woman’s underwear on the floor of his room. He said the room seemed like it had not been cleaned at all and he was requesting the front desk to solve this issue and by the way he spoke about the front desk staff, they were not helpful to him.
This is why I include it can be a “hit or miss” experience but that applies to ANY hotel during this time no matter the caliber. I enjoyed my time at the Fairmont, it is a beautiful property with nice staff, comfortable big rooms and amazing location. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to stay downtown. Thank you Fairmont Pittsburgh!

We have stayed in a few different hotels in Pittsburgh and definitely enjoyed our stay at the Fairmont. There is a self parking garage connected to the hotel (we paid approx 30 a night where you can take an elevator up to the hotel (useful during cold winter months), walking distance to restaurants, and a clean modern room with a really nice view of the square! The gym provides a nice view of the city while you're working out. No pool at this hotel in case you're looking to see if that is available. Lastly, the staff was very professional and polite.

Formal welcome, correct respect of Covid-restrictions and reactive valet service. Restaurant was closed, dinner and breakfast served in room only. Breakfast starts at 07:00am only and not before, served in a paper bag, 2 croissants, one Juice and one double espresso for 45 dollars!!! No bottle of drinking water in the room, it can be taken from reception but the guests need to find that out....and the room was not made after first night

In town for a University Alumni event and a Pirates game. Valet and Check In was smooth and friendly. Upon arrival to the room we were pleased! The room was spacious and clean with a great view and downtown and the ball pack. The electronics were a bit outdate, TV Software very slow and no USB Plugs except for 2 in the desk power portal which was hanging loose out of the desk from people pulling on it, although the charging worked. The coffee maker had water in it from last stay and when we did operate it it made "sludge" and was certainly undrinkable, there were also no disposable To Go coffee cups which I felt was needed. The one item we were disappointed with was the brunch situation. All signs around the lobby and in elevator said Sunday Brunch from 8am-2pm. Around 9am we went down to the restaurant only to find it was closed. We went down to the lobby and was told we could only order room service and that brunch would start at 10 in the restaurant. We didn't want to sit in the room to eat brunch so we had to find somewhere else to go. The front desk staff recommended "Waffles InCaffeinated" which was actually pretty awful and no where near what we hoped to experience in exchange of what we thought we'd get at a Fairmont Brunch. Pittsburgh is kind of an oddball city, lots of things closed and minimal options for activity on a weekend unless you want to booze, but this is a personal comment. Next time I may consider staying in another part of town.

We spent three nights here for a wedding. The rooms are large. I guess due to COVID there are no glasses or plastic cups in the room. I was able to get a couple of plastic cups from the gym. When we checked in we were not told that there would not be daily maid service. After the first day of a surprise I was able to get extra towels and knew to make the bed. The rooms were quiet and we slept well. The location is within walking distance of the baseball and football fields. Breakfast was included in our stay. The first day we got avocado toast, oatmeal, 1 orange juice, 1 grapefruit juice and a bottle of water and the bill was $85! The included breakfast covered $70. That is way excessive. Parking was $40 so we found a barge nearby for $8 a night. Face masks were available at the front desk. Few employees or guests worn a mask. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

We recently stayed here for a weekend trip to Pittsburgh. The location of the hotel is a close walk to many attractions and restaurants in downtown Pittsburgh.
The service of the staff was excellent, everyone was very friendly and accommodating, the room was nicely appointed, and lobby bar had some very interesting cocktails.
The highlight of the hotel is the gym. It was fantastic! There are three Peloton bikes and every other piece of workout piece of workout equipment you could need. The hotel even has a deal with Reebok where they will provide shoes and gym clothes if you don’t want to pack your own.
We typically stay at Marriott branded hotels, but this might be our new go to in Pittsburgh.

No coffee, water, or glasses in the room. I went to the restaurant, they wanted to charge $10 for a bottle of water, the tap water was all cloudy....We wanted to watch Netflix, I called the front desk as I could not access intranet, they told me $15 to access wifi! I have never paid for wifi, especially at a higher end hotel! Lobby bar was closed, so there was really not a lot to do, they could of at least provided wifi and water!!!!!

We chose the Fairmont Pittsburgh for our honeymoon (10 nights stay) and we were utterly disappointed. Our one bedroom suite on the 18th floor (Mt. Washington view) was filthy and dusty, had crumbles on the coffee table, lots of hair in the bathtub and disgusting yellow stains on the front of the toilet bowl when we arrived (we took pictures to prove it). After we complained they allegedly sent the housekeeping to our room but when we came back from the city nothing had changed.
During our stay they did NOT ONCE change or clean the used coffee mugs and hardly emptied the trash bins. We had to buy cleaning wipes at RiteAid to clean our honeymoon suite in a Fairmont. Think about that! We complained many times at the front desk, they always said sorry but there was no improvement at all. Eventually the manager offered us a $100 voucher for their restaurant Floor2. We declined because we felt so insulted about that. I mean, we payed for a one bedroom suite for 10 nights and they offered us $100 for all that??!?
I understand that we do live in pandemic times. But the cleanliness at the arrival of the guests and a decent service towards your guests has nothing to do with it. Speaking of the arrival and the check-in: They didn‘t provide us the welcome drink for Accor silver/gold members nor did they respond to our note in the reservation that this was our honeymoon.
On day 4 the housekeeping took all our small change we left on the desk. Do we look like we tip in small change?!?!! They stole our money but weren‘t able to clean the room. We drove to Pittsburgh; called the hotel en route at about 6 pm to say we'd probably not arrive till around 9:30pm, and asked if would room service or the restaurant still be operating, or whether we should get dinner on the road. The receptionist assured me that room service is open very late, would be operating till at least 11pm or possibly midnight. We arrived at 9:40, leisurely checked in to our room, then called room service at 10:05 and were told room service closes at 10pm. The next morning at checkout, I asked to review my bill and I was told that guests cannot review their bills that morning because of a computer problem but that they would simply charge everything to ,my credit card. I said i wanted to SEE what was being charged to my credit card, and they said that would not be possible and that I would need to checkout without reviewing the charges, but could follow up after my visit to review them. This is not OK! Then, we called to have our car brought out by the valet. We saw it parked curbside in front of the hotel, approached it with our luggage. No bell staff was in sight to help us, so we decided to wait with our luggage outside our car. My son tugged at the door handle and the car was left UNLOCKED AND UNATTENDED on a city street. We waited a long time and no bell person showed up; I asked my son to stay with the car and I went inside and asked them to get a bell attendant to help us. Eventually, some one came but it is beyond irresponsible to leave someone's vehicle unlocked and unattended on a city street for a very significant stretch of time. I won't be returning to this place.
