This place is fabulous! The rooms are unbelievable – spacious nicely decorated gorgeous floor to ceiling windows overlooking the city, full kitchen, big screen, TV and right in the heart of the market centers so that you’re within two minute walk to anywhere from Dunkin’ Donuts to Starbucks to chipotle to five guys or to multitude of restaurants. There’s also a CVS five minutes walking to pick up last-minute items that I needed.

Steve, at the front desk, was extremely nice, helpful and friendly. Alicia, in housekeeping, really cares about making sure that you’re comfortable and that the room is clean. When we got here, I wasn’t sure if the bathroom floor hadn’t been mopped or if it was just normal wear and tear on the tile. I called down and she was at my door with mop in hand within three minutes. It turned out it was just wear on the tile. I apologized for making her come up. She continued to mop the already clean floor and she said that it wasn’t a problem- that my feeling comfortable was all that mattered. So sweet.

My husband, 2 adult sons and I came to Pittsburgh for the Sunday Steelers game. An annual event but my 1st time, at a cost of $2,000.00 for tickets. Our kennel was full, but hotel was advertised as pet friendly, unfortunately absolutely not. After being threatened with expulsion by housekeeping after paying $150. fee for pets and calling back to please apologize to the other guests, explaining I'm hearing impaired and did not hear the first phone call from the hotel, which was unpleasant and apparently not satisfactory to the staff. I stayed in Saturday night to babysit our dogs and ate take out, while my family went out, thank you. I received a call that we would need to leave if we were going to the game. I explained we had already agreed that the dogs would be in the car, in the garage, while we were out, that seemed to mollify you. As we were about to check out, housekeeping calls and tells me to keep my pets on a leash while leaving? Wholly unnecessary. They were never off leash in the common areas at any time, they were nothing but pleasant-we make it a point to be good dog owners. My dogs have been trained to ignore people and other pets they encounter. I had one housekeeper jump back as we exited the elevator-he's a black lab,10 years old and partial blind, he never even saw her, let alone acknowledged her. The dogs never misbehaved at all except, when we left for 3 hours to go shopping, at 1pm on Saturday. (They have stayed in hotels before and we've never encountered any problems, so this situation was a surprise to say the least) I had told housekeeping we were leaving as we left and that the dogs were in the room. Apparently, housekeeping took this as an opportunity to immediately started cleaning and vacuuming in front of our room, upsetting our dogs and causing neighbors to complain. Was housekeeping trying to start problems? It's seems your hotel relies on bullying guests, instead of trying to reasonably trying to work with them; not a good public relations policy. The man at the hotel desk was outwardly hostile from the beginning, not quite sure why. Additionally; your tv's don't work except for streaming, your maintenance knows this, but you simply don't care-that's not what you advertise. Wifi was difficult to connect to. Could be great place, but need to get your act together. And yes, will be posting my experience to the internet.

We live in Pittsburgh so for my hubby's birthday iI thought I would take him downtown for a night in the city plus dinner I happened on Etage on Expedia! For the price ( getting a whole apartment instead of just a hotel room)... --well, there was no comparision. We did eat at Eddie Merlot's right acrostt the street for dinner abd made breakfast in our unit. Kitchen supplies were terrific..from the coffee maker, to pans, p,ates and even paper towels! AND the shower was fantastic.... We'd never seen one like it so that was extra enjoyable!

The Front desk clerk was wonderful! Parking in the same building was so convenient and everything else we needed was in the apartment! Even a washer and dryer but we didn't use that.
We will be back and we will certainly tell our friends about it, too! Thank you for a great stay!

Location: Fantastic and convenient

Pros: spacious suites, nice and quiet, overall good vibe

Cons: Trash can was broken, sofa was filthy and had chips from prior guests, toilet base was gross and seems uncleaned for years, shower had hair in it, toilet paper is worse than 1 ply

The worst part? My towel accidently knocked over the toilet brush and brown water was all in the container. Clearly the brushes have never been cleaned or sanitized. I've actually never been more happy to come home and take a shower after being here, despite how beautiful the suites are. As well you can tell the handles in the kitchen were not wiped down. Maybe if we stay here again I will bring my own TP and cleaning products.

If they can do 3 simple things: clean and sanitize the toilets and shower, clean the sofa and fix the broken trash cans, this place would be amazing. I guess because of location they really don't care to improve on cleanliness.

Having spent the night in all 50 states on hundreds of road trips, I'll boldly declare Etage to be my favorite hotel experience in America, ever! You can live like a king in these spacious suites with full kitchens, sweeping city views, and lovely bathrooms. The rooftop terrace and basketball court are quite impressive. The room was exceptionally clean and the 12th floor living space outside the rooms is remarkable. You get so much for the price! It's unfortunate that downtown Pittsburgh has little to do and almost nowhere decent to eat. But the easy walk to Pirates and Steelers games makes this hotel a win (if it's within your price range).

Yes, customer service is miserable as others have stated. They should replace the entire staff with competent employees. And yes, the garage runs $30 per 24 hours so you'll have to pay to park. And there is no way a large SUV will fit in those tiny spaces. But my average-sized SUV had no problem, and expensive parking is just part of staying downtown in a big city. But everything else about the stay was magical!

Tip: I was told to park in the garage and press L in the elevator to access the lobby for check in. After seemingly getting stuck in the elevator with L not working and the call button being ignored, I realized that pressing 1 will take you to the right level. After that, you'll have a key card and be able to access any floor of the condo.

Tip: The rooftop is not accessible by the lobby elevators, but the elevator toward the back of each floor and also behind the lobby will get the job done.

If you are thinking about booking the room they advertise on their website with the panoramic windows, that particular penthouse has been occupied for the last 2 years and is not available as if this review. We only booked due to that photo and specifically asked for that room type and was told that is what we booked and when we arrived it was not the same unit. Bed linen was dirty and we were forced to change ourselves because housekeeping never showed. No instructions on how to roll the window to ceiling shade so we were forced to not have a window view in the bedroom for 2 days. Front desk service was horrible by 2 female workers who never smiled and had attitudes as if they literally hated their jobs. Not worth the price for the cleanliness and customer service issue we experienced and was very disappointed. Dealing with lost baggage and flight delays, after checking out our flight was canceled again and we booked at the Hyatt Place in Pittsburgh and it cost 3/4 of what we paid to stay at Etage and was a far better experience and we literally could have stayed there initially with free breakfast!

Great place. Was very surprised at the size of the rooms. I’ve had apartments smaller than this. The hotel is setup for extended stays and families. There is a full kitchen, washer/dryer and large bathroom. The attached parking garage is tight. What I mean is it’s small and can be a tight fit if you have a large truck or SUV. Standard cars are ok. Just take it slow in the garage.

One thing to note is there is a $250 damage deposit charged when you check in. You’ll get it back after check out. I wasn’t aware of that and it’s not an issue for me but was a surprise none the less. I booked on Expedia and don’t reminder seeing that but on another booking site, it was in the fine print.

There is our go to place when going to Pittsburgh now.

Hotel is conveniently located downtown. In and out parking is easy. Check in process was simple. This was a great option for three people instead of cramming into a regular sized hotel room or suite and was basically the same price as other hotels in the vacinity.

The Etage is a spectacularly appointed, suites only hotel in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh. Easy access to many things! The check-in process was a nightmare as there is no pull off or door staff to assist with luggage drop, this was particularly difficult for us as we were bringing in tons of wedding items. The rooftop is amazing with some of the best views in the city. They have an adorable dog park that our Frenchie enjoyed! Budget wise I would rate this on the high end of options, but the size of the suites are outstanding, especially if you are traveling with family or friends!
