This hotel is in a sad state of repair, our room had torn carpets and furniture and a closet door of its runner. Bath was last remodeled during the Nixon administration. Only stay here as a last resort and even then you will be overcharged Staff is friendly but nothing they can do to improve a stay here

A great stay in Pittsburgh, PA over the weekend at the DoubleTree by Hilton downtown Pittsburgh! We were in town to attend the Taylor Swift Concert and the hotel was in a very convenient location right across from the T. The rooms were very clean and the staff was fantastic, including houseman, Mike who was very friendly and helpful! The Taylor Swift Themed Photo Booth was a nice enhancement for the girls photo op! Enjoyed a cocktail in the Bigelow Grille. I highly recommend this hotel for your next stay in the "burgh"!

Our trip started with finding out that our truck was not going to fit in their parking garage. We pulled around to the front of the hotel so I could run in and ask the desk for another option. He suggested a parking garage a couple blocks away and gave me a map to try and locate. Unfortunately we could also not fit in there. After driving around we checked out the parking lot across from the Paint arena (also just kiddy corner from the hotel) and were able to stay there for the two nights we needed and only cost eight dollars more then the hotel so we were happy. However a little disappointed that the front desk didn’t suggest there to begin with. After a flawless check in and receiving some delicious warm cookies we made our way to our room. The room very dated and not clean. The box spring covers were not on the beds properly, the chair looked like it was picked from the garbage it was so worn. The wall paper was peeling and the facet in the tub was dripping. The carpet looked like it had never had the wall edges cleaned and the curtains looked like they have been around since smoking was allowed in rooms. We eat at the restaurant for breakfast. The food was good and you got a fair amount for the price. Unfortunately there was only one girl working. So was seating people taking orders and bringing took to the tables. So unfortunately our food was room temperature when it finally arrived. You would think a day after a hockey game they would staff more appropriately. Even though she was working her but off she was still very pleasant. So other than the location which is great for both the arena and walking around enjoying the city there is nothing good about this hotel and I will not stay there again.

Hotel was in a good location for a business visit. The room was spacious, though a bit dated, and I found the reception team very friendly. However, although the bed was very comfortable I had an awful night’s sleep due to the air conditioning unit sounding like a jumbo jet and the green light from the fire alarm directly above the bed flashing every 10 seconds.

Our stay there was OK, but....... The price we paid was pretty good as it relates to Pittsburgh hotels. Some of them are getting really out of hand. We live in W PA but a bit of a drive from Pittsburgh. When we come to downtown for concerts and shows, we prefer to get a room for the night. Enjoy the show, have a drink or 2 after and just enjoy some leisure time. That was the plan for this trip. We went to a show at the Benedum, which was about a 10-12 minute walk from the hotel. It was a little confusing when we arrived. They say they have "valet parking". Well, sort of. My interpretation of valet parking is a pull up to the entrance, get my luggage, and a valet takes my vehicle somewhere and parks it. Not here. I had to drive around the block to the parking garage, that is where the "valet" was, inside the garage. Not a huge issue but for 36 bucks a night, i was a little annoyed. The hotels lobby area and restaurant and areas were very modern and trendy looking. Unfortunately, the rooms are not, they are a little old and tired. Our room had the smallest bathroom i have seen in a long time, i mean TINY. But it was clean enough, and it was only for one night. We decided to just have dinner there at the hotel before the show. We both got a burger, and it was good. Typical hotel type pricing. But it was a nice filling meal. After the show, we decided to just head back to the hotel (it was a little before 11) and have a few drinks before heading back to the room. At least, that was the plan. When we got to the hotel, a few minutes after 11, the bar, which is supposed to be open until 12, was CLOSED. Now, mind you, this was on a FRIDAY NIGHT!!!! What the hell? We asked why it was closed, and were told they weren't very busy so they closed up early. They weren't busy because people were at the SHOW! That was disappointing, and we really didn't feel like walking around to find a bar at that point. The next morning we got up early enough to go have breakfast at the restaurant. They have menus posted in all of the elevators, and their breakfast menu looked tasty. So we went to the restaurant, only to be told that all they have available was a "buffet" which cost $22/pp. The menu, which was posted in all the elevators, really wasn't available. Really? My wife and i are both light breakfast eaters, so there was no way we were going spend 50 bucks+ for a few waffles and maybe some scrambled eggs. So we went back to our room, had a cup of coffee, and checked out. We ended up having breakfast at eat n park. Bottom line. Double tree lost out on what we would have spent at the bar plus what we would have spent at breakfast. Plus those things just took some of the pleasure out of our stay. The staff there were all genuinely nice people. Every one was a pleasure to deal with. Not sure who is making the decisions about early bar closings and unavailable breakfast, but they may want to revisit those. In fact, i am unsure why the bar would close at 12. We have stayed several times at the Cambria by PPG paints, and their bar was 2 deep at 1 AM after a show at PPG. With the huge markup on alcohol, you would think they would want to take advantage.

The worst Hilton property I have ever stayed at. Dirty rooms. Non working TV. Had to beg for cleaning of room. Noisy. Food service was disgusting. No working bathrooms in lobby. Feet stuck to the floor in the breakfast area. Curtains in room torn, carpet was frayed.

Cleanest hotel I’ve stayed at from the sidewalk to the bathrooms. Great location, only a 5 minute walk to the hockey arena, and lots of other fun activities. Everyone was very polite and accommodating.

I did the check in online because I like to pick my own room although it got changed by the hotel as usual for me. Anyway, I also like to check in at counter and get card keys as well as using digital key. I was not greeted as a Gold member nor offered card keys, map of city nor the cookies that were offered to every other guest checking in, just that I was good to go right to the room and use my digital key. And sure enough the digital key did not work correctly and had to go to front desk again. I spoke to a different clerk which was very nice and corrected the check in. The other complaint about this stay was it was New Year's Eve and hockey games both Saturday and Sunday night so hotel was extremely busy and the elevators were not working. We were on the 10th floor after the room change and the elevator would never stop there when trying to go down, we had to push the up to get it to stop and then go up a few floors and then back down just to get to the lobby, it was a mess. We started using the service elevator just because. We stayed here 9 years ago with similar issues but decided to give another chance. Will stay somewhere else next time.

We had a great experience! We were traveling as a large family over the New Years holiday. In past hotel stays at other locations, we often had to hope for connecting rooms to fit all of us. The suit they had available was more than perfect. We could divide into the three bedrooms which provided ample space for a little separation when needed. The large dining room table allowed up to eat together in comfort. The kitchenette had a good size refrigerator and microwave. The staff was very accommodating and prompt to respond with requests. They provided recommendations for sites and navigating the city. We saw the general manager, Steve, always had a smile and was involved in many aspects of the daily functions of the hotel. The food at the restaurant provided a variety of offerings that met the needs of our family’s varying pallets. The check-in and check-out process was seamless. The location was right downtown and made an easy walk of restaurants, sites and the metro was right across the street at Steel Plaza. It was winter and cold out, making the valet parking a luxury. I highly recommend to stay here and will do so again on our next trip.
