Conveniently located near the University of Pittsburgh. The Carnegie Museums of Art & Natural History and the Phipps Conservatory are walking distance from the hotel, as are many restaurants. It is best to park in the hotel garage, which is valet only, but it is well attended. Nice staff, clean rooms and common areas. Good breakfast, but it isn't free. We will stay here again.

This is a nice, clean hotel in the center of town. You definitely pay for the location. Nothing is included in the price, including the $25 a night parking. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The only negative was you have to request that your room is cleaned; it is not done automatically. If you're visiting a Pitt student it is the perfect location.

I truly enjoy coming to this Hilton. It is close to the University and you are on the main strip. It has a shuttle too! Lots of food places chain and unique ones (recommend the Milkshake Factory) and local bars (expect college crowd). You are a 10 minute drive from the Waterfront which has plenty of shopping, movie, and food chains from Red Robin to PF Changs as well as unique shops. Ok so lets talk hotel. Its always clean, restaurant and bar have good food, not a huge place but you have windows that look out to the busy street below - so eat and people watch. The prices are reasonable. The mixed drinks are approx. $11 and the wine by the glass or bottle, beers include IPAs and 4 kinds of beer in draft. Food I suggest the wings, chicken or salmon cesar the dessert in the mason jar! My favorite!!! The check in is made up of friendly staff. They hand you a paper that gives you all the hotel and local information. The valet is a nice touch. Never had a scratch or dent and they retrieve your car in antimely manner. $20 per night stay, may go up to $25 with late check out. Housekeeping does their job very well here. The room is always clean, nothing is out of place everything is fully stocked small fridge and Kureig with teas and coffee. The heat or air has a thermostat that is programmable on the wall. The noise level from outside is very mininal if any. To ensure minimal noise get a room in the rear of building and away from elevators. I have stayed in the back and front facing rooms of the hotel and I do not wake up from traffic noise. The bathroom, they use Neutrogena products, a hair dryer is avaialble too. Plenty of towels for face and body. Bring your room key to access the amenties in the hotel are ice machines, coffee or tea at the lobby, a gym on the 3rd floor up to date equipment (free weights and circuit), one washer and one dryer on the 6th floor ($1 in quarters (get a front desk) for each as of Jan 2020) Tip: the dryer low setting runs hot so damp clothes can be dry in 20 - 25 mins. It runs for 45 mins. Hilton Honor members get late check out and 2 bottles of water in the room.

The rooms are 70's motif and need an update but because of the location, it is a popular place to stay. Why update? The 2 night stay was over $525 and there were 2 bottles of water in the room for $2 each. They just can't give you a bottle of water? The bath sink was clogged. The restaurant never seemed open. No room service. Valet $30 a day.

I made a reservation for my 20 year old daughter through expedia. There is no mention of age requirement of 21 years in the rules and restrictions. Front desk refused to honor the reservation, refused to reconsider when we called as parents to vouch for her, refused offer to send another adult to the hotel to check her in, and refused to help in anyway and turned her away past 10PM at night. I subsequently also confirmed that even if you book directly through the hotel website, you can go all the way to the payment screen, click on the rules and terms and there is no mention of the age restriction. Sounds like a nice ploy to take money from people while providing no service with this "hidden" age restriction on a hotel close to a university

This used to be my favorite place to stay when I was in Pittsburgh on business. First, I do not like that Hilton has changed their policy to a $10 credit for breakfast instead of free. I am a diamond member and I should not have to pay for breakfast. Besides, the breakfast buffet has taken a downturn. Eggs are like rubber!! I am supposed to get a $10 credit each morning, I did not get the credit. Once my corporate card is billed, I cannot fix a billing issue. Next, every night I would get disconnected from my internet every few minutes. Then I would wake up in the middle of the night very hot, the AC turned off due to what must be a motion detector!! There is Marriott property two blocks away. I guess I will be changing hotels on my next visit in June.

Very convenient to University of Pittsburg.
Had some problems with the room that seemed to be electrical in nature. Fridge, coffee maker, and microwave did not work. Pulled the fridge out and plugged in elsewhere and it was fine.
I have an issue with parking cost at this property, $40 per night for valet. I was willing to pay this until I was told that my pickup truck would not fit in the parking garage and that I had to self park in a lot to the rear of the hotel. So no valet for trucks. So when I made the hotel aware of the electrical issues I also questioned the cost for the parking which I explained was not valet and I was not happy with the price. So #1 she did not ask what room I was in so that she could get the issues fixed and #2 the answer I got about parking is that they still needed to charge that amount as they rent the space. No reduction in price was offered. She never asked my name or room number or looked to see that I am a HH Diamond member with a substantial amount of stays in the past 6 months and a lot over the past 3 years.
Disappointed with this stay.

There was a hidden fee that I was not expecting in this reservation. There is no parking at the hotel except valet parking for $40/night. Surrounding surface lots can be used and cost less, but I felt some people might want to add this extra when comparing more than one hotel in Pittsburgh.
The room was clean.
The walls were not soundproof but earplugs worked fine.
The staff were helpful and friendly, even with my very early checkout.

We really liked this hotel! We were visiting University of Pitt for a college tour. The hotel is walking distance of Pitt which appealed to us. When we arrived everyone from the valet to the front desk were so friendly and welcoming. There is no self parking in the hotel garage, but we actually loved the valet service! Very quick and easy and the valets are super quick bringing your car. Our room was on the 9th floor and it was clean and very comfortable. The hotel is a quick 10 minute drive from PPG Paints Arena too. We also went to a Penguins game while here. Very easy drive. We are Hilton Honors members so our room rate was very affordable and we not only chose our room the night before we arrived, but we also checked in via the app! Highly recommend. It was easy and quick! One last thing, we loved that there was free cancellation. We do try and find hotels that offer this when we’re going to travel simply because you just never know! One thing is for sure… if our child decides to attend Univ of Pitt we feel like we will have a home away from home with Hilton Garden Inn University Place when we visit.

Don’t stay here! Found a bed bug in the sheets 🤮They did change our room, called an entomologist and had the room treated, comped our stay, paid for dry cleaning, paid for a meal, and bought us a gift basket. Very nice of the manager but was never compensated for our suitcases and did I mention bed bugs!!

Uber or any other ride share service is the easiest way from Pittsburgh airport. Hotel has free shuttle buses to get you around the downtown area so they might have a shuttle from the airport. You need to ask them if they go to the airport.

I believe they typically run till 11:00 pm, and have a 3 mile radius limit. We had a reception that lasted till midnight. We informed them and just had to call, and they came and picked everyone up.
