Alpenhof Bed and Breakfast, located just minutes from the Philadelphia airport, is a beautifully appointed family run historic bed and breakfast which is a refreshingly different accommodation from the regular "run of the mill" hotel/motel chain or guest house. Alpenhof, a 250 year-old converted bank barn, lovingly transformed by the Muller family is located just :25 minutes southwest from downtown Philadelphia in lovely Upper Providence township. Alpenhof has a lot to offer their guests. Whether it's the wonderfully comfortable handmade beds or the well appointed rooms and amenities; Roland and Anh go out of their way to make sure each guest is both comfortable and happy. Each room has its own private bathroom; flat screen tv/cable tv; free WIFI/internet; salon shampoo/conditioner/soap dispensers; hair dryers; luxury bath towels and sheets; iron/ironing board; mini-frig (king rooms); and security doors. Parking is also free. While at Alpenhof, you can enjoy a peaceful stroll through the one-of-a-kind boulder garden or explore the flora and fauna that consumes a majority of the property; or just enjoy a relaxing afternoon around the outdoor pool or sitting out on one of the two separate decks off the back of house, taking in the surrounding beauty. Breakfast, also included in the rate, is cooked-to-order from a diverse breakfast menu -- offering each guest a wide swath of choices and a variety of dietary items. The town of Media -- just 8 minutes from the house -- offers travelers a large variety of food choices and restaurants as well as unique boutique shopping. Roland and Anh are both more than willing to offer up their favorite food places as well as inspire guests to seek out interests of all kinds. Whether it be art, history, theater, music, nature, antiquing, or fun you seek, there is a plethora of things to keep you busy for your entire stay -- all within :20 minutes from the property. Local attractions include Ridley Creek State Park, Tyler Arboretum, Rose Tree Park, Longwood Gardens, Chanticleer Gardens, Linvilla Orchards, the Brandywine River Museum and Battlefield, the Wyeth Museum, Valley Forge Park and Museum, the Colonial Plantation, PLUS EVERYTHING in Philadelphia - which is an easy :20 minute train ride from the Media station minutes from the house with plenty of safe parking. Whether you're here to visit family or friends, visiting 1 of the 15 different local colleges, here on business, or just looking to get away from the everyday grind, Alpenhof has something for everybody and guarantees a unique and wonderfully different experience. We look forward to meeting you!

Beautifully landscaped property, excellent breakfast and pleasant hosts made this a comfortable stay. It is also very close to Ridley Creek State Park and its lovely surroundings. It is also convenient to Media and its offerings (such as transit to nearby Philadelphia.

From the moment you drive up to this beautiful home you become enchanted by the beauty of the surroundings. Immediately you feel at home and at peace. The rooms are beautifully decorated and well equipped with anything you would need. The towels and linens are luxurious. The owner, Roland, makes you feel like you are family. Each morning we looked forward to his amazing breakfasts and the details that made each meal special. He even remembers what each person likes and dislikes. They have taken all the precautions to make sure you are safe, including providing anti-bacterial soap and hand sanitizer in each room, bleaching menus, staggering meal times for guests and providing plenty of area for social distancing. We will definitely be returning and sharing this hidden gem with our family and friends.

My usual hotel was booked, so I googled places to stay in Media, PA. I stumbled on the site of the most amazing bed and breakfast. My stay did not disappoint. Roland and Anh are extraordinary hosts. I walked up to the large loge, captivated by beautiful gardens. My room, the Master Suite, had high ceilings, beautiful furniture and decor, and was very spacious. Other guests were staying that weekend, but I felt a complete sense of ease and privacy. Breakfast was delicious, freshly baked muffins, scones, etc., and fruit to start. Then a varied menu with many choices. The meal was superb.
My trip was to visit my elderly mother, after a year’s absence because of the pandemic. Alpenhof was nearby, and I could easily come and go. When she rested, I returned to enjoy my lunch outside on a deck overlooking the pool area. It was so relaxing. I did let my siblings know about this fantastic B&B. It would be perfect for a future family reunion.
Thank you Roland, for creating such a wonderful place. I look forward to future visits.

We had a deightful stay at the Alpenhof B&B. The property is beautiful, beautifully situated and uniquely designed and furnished. We stayed in the Grand Master suite, which is very large, well-appointed and quite comfortable. The suite has such character and charm. Breakfasts were excellent. Roland and Anh are great hosts who have clearly given a lot of thought to making their guests completely comfortable. From a COVID-19 standpoint, they have taken all the necesary precautions, and we felt very safe. We highly recommend the Alpenhof and would definitely stay again!

Uniquely designed home is beautifully decorated as a Bed and Breakfast. We enjoyed the spacious room and the delicious breakfast, which offered many hot choices (rather than just one or two as at some B&Bs). The gardens are well maintained and the pool was much appreciated on a hot July day after touring Longwood Gardens.

We recently stayed at Alpenhof on a trip to Longwood Gardens to see the holiday lights. It is truly one of the nicest B&B's we have ever stayed at. It is located in a quiet neighborhood approximately 5 minutes from Route 1. It is near Ridley Creek State Park which is very lovely. The home is a restored stone barn that has been in the family for many years. It is beautifully decorated and is immaculately clean. We had absolutely to concerns with COVID. The hosts are both wonderful. Roland welcomed us and gave us a quick tour, and he answered all questions that he had about the area. Anh was delightful to talk to about her life story. Our room was very cozy, and it had a large flat-screen TV, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. We started with a variety of pastries and fresh fruit. Then you get to select the main items off of a menu which included eggs, French toast, waffles, etc. Beverages are also included. What a wonderful way to start the day! We would highly recommend Alpenhof to anyone looking for a weekend getaway, or for anyone traveling in the area who enjoys a unique experience. We hope to return in the summer to see their beautiful garden in bloom.

Helga -- Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review of your stay with us. We are so pleased that you found the house and the surrounding area stimulating and were out to explore all that Delaware County has to offer. We appreciate that you felt safe with us here at the house (concerning Covid) -- we really have made an effort to always have the house immaculately clean, sanitized, and we do our best to keep our guests a safe distance from one another....just in case. We look forward to your return next spring/summer; and we hope you have a bright and sparkly holiday season and toast in an even better 2022! Best. Roland and Anh

We spend two nights in this amazing B&B. It is a converted hay barn, but the décor is spectacular. Rooms are on various levels, with a great room with fireplace on the lower floor. Our room had a king-size bed, comfortable arm chair and a pretty view of the valley below. The en suite bathroom was very nice.
Our host was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic! We could order from a limited menu so we could get a meal that met our wants and needs. There is a swimming pool that would be lovely in the summer time. The location is very convenient.
We loved our stay at the Alpenhof!

As other reviews will testify, this place is a gem. It happened to be located within half an hour of all the tourist and family visits I wanted to make. It is a unique property with lots of history, and lots of interior decor that could keep you fascinated for hours. And the gardens are equally fabulous. We were in the Grand Master suite, and it was perfect. Comfortable beds, super clean, spacious. The hosts aim to please, and the breakfast menu had many choices, and all were delicious. I hope we find an excuse to stay again in the future.

We had a wonderful family reunion taking over the whole Alpenhof Bed and Breakfast. The property is gorgeous inside and out, with a ton of character. The main residence a historic barn with a spacious, comfortable living room decorated with art from Roland and Ang’s world travels. The 6 bedrooms all have their own en suite bathrooms, large flat screen TVs and mini-fridges. The grand primary suite is particularly lovely, with a small patio overlooking the pool and garden, king oversize bed, alcove with child’s bed and luxurious, high design bathroom suite.

There’s also a family cottage in the garden, with a bedroom, main room with couches and trundle bed, and kitchenette.

Our hosts Roland and Ang served a delicious homey breakfast in the dining room the two mornings we were there, cooking eggs, waffles, pancakes and french toast to order for our group of twelve.

The location was perfect for us, five min from hiking along the creek in Ridley Creek State Park, 10 min from the adorable downtown State Street in Media, with lots of restaurants, and 35 min from center city Philadelphia. Alpenhof is a gem!

Everything about this Bed and Breakfast is exceptional. I stayed in the Cabin and the Grand Master Suite, and both were the height of comfort. Roland, the owner, bends over backwards to make sure every guest feels personally cared for and is happy. The grounds are gorgeous, the setting is peaceful and serene, and the breakfast is beyond amazing, filled with homemade treats like scones, doughnuts, and muffins, as well as eggs, bacon, yogurt, and fruit. Honestly, my entire stay at the Alpenhof was a joy beginning to end, and it was only made better by the presence of Roland's three big, beautiful dogs, including Lola, who's an absolute love. There are not enough possible stars to adequately express how much I want to rave about this Bed and Breakfast.
