No complaints at all. We had a very peasant and relaxing stay at this spic and span, well appointed, comfortable and well-run little hotel overlooking the valley with a beautiful view of the mountain and lifts. Would stay again in a heartbeat. Comfortably fit my husband and I plus two teens.

I have been staying at the Lantern Apartments and some of their other properties in Thredbo since 2012. Each time I stay the accommodation is always presented perfectly and true to the description. The team of Ian, Jill, Scott and Cheryl are always welcoming and always have a solution to any incidental need that I may have. I highly recommend staying at the Lantern Apartments and or any of the various Thredbo properties that the Lantern team manage.

Beautiful appartment. Had everything we needed. Amazing to have a full size fridge, washer & dryer. Amazing views. A little expensive. Staff were not helpful in advising which restaurants in town would be open or not as we went in the off season. Would also be nice to receive something a week prior to arrival to advise nothing will be open to save the drive back out to jindabyne.

Response from Propsero, Owner at Lantern Apartments
Responded 28 Apr 2020
Hi Thanks for submitting your review. I am sorry that the crew were not more helpful in identifying which restaurants were open. it has been challengin g keeping up with what restaurants are doing as the government restrictions due to COVID19 change. We usually have a restaurant guide from the Village but this was not forthcoming. I hope everything else was working for you.

Prior to arrival, we sought some help from the manager to navigate the skiing experience (as newcomers). They weren’t particularly helpful but we found this typical across Thredbo.
We arrived at the Lantern to be told there was no parking for Unit 14. This should be highlighted at the time of booking as parking is competitive in this area.
Found a dirty sock on the main bedroom floor. Another minor thing.
After a few lovely days enjoying Thredbo, we were ready to rebook a unit (with parking) for the following year.
Then, the managers arrived on Friday to find out why we weren’t checking out. Evidently they’d failed to update their system with the extra day they’d offered us two months prior and we’d accepted (with Saturday as the checkout date confirmed by the managers in writing).
Rather than tell the second booker they’d stuffed up, we were left with two young children to pack up in the rain and find other accommodation. Impossible in peak season. There was no offer of recompense or assistance whatsoever.
In a word - the owner of unit 14 has a beautiful place but it’s completely overshadowed by incompetent management. Buyer beware - find somewhere else to stay.

Fantastic apartment with full kitchen, spa on verandah, washing machine and dryer, parking and comfy bed. We stayed in unit 10- not all units have all of these facilities. Also a great view from verandah

We had a 3 night stay in a 1 bedroom loft apartment. Superb is the only way to describe this apartment. The room was great for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. All ammenities were modern and clean and made for an extremely enjoyable trip. We will be back.

Great stay, beautiful apartment, pleasantly surprised to find the loft bedroom had its own bathroom. Wonderful views and everything we could possibly need. Hosts went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our stay. We’re able to park in front of reception undercover also.

We have just returned from a 3 day stay at the Lantern Apartments. We bought a 3 nights for 2 deal through the Thredbo accommodation site and paid A$330.
Whilst Thredbo is a great location for walkers, the Lantern was not always an easy place to return to after a hike. You must be very fit and first must climb many steps as it's located on one of the highest parts of Thredbo. There is limited parking.
We were disappointed given that this property is rated 4 star. It's condition was in definite need of a refurbishment and some maintenance with the bathroom fan not working, hooks missing from the curtains, threads hanging from the carpets, a very dirty iron and a window with a winder which didn't work. It was also very hot inside and no fan was supplied. The bathroom was very small and the toilet was placed in such a way that we had to sit sideways on it. We did not get the standard we saw on the website.
In its favour it had great views of the mountain and chairlift but
had I been paying the full price of $165 a night, I would have been extremely disappointed.

For the cost might suggest looking around before committing to the Lantern . We stayed in the deluxe with the spa on the balcony . The staff are friendly but this doesn't compensate for the very uncomfortable mattress and Television equipment , DVD , remote's etc not in functioning properly lack of water pressure in the shower, The rooms on the website look so much larger , but the apartment is actually very small. If your looking for the WOW factor you will not find at the Lantern.
We had a look around at other places , we were charged $40.00 for a cot and a booking fee of $ 15.00 for this which is ridiculousness .... Other places were $10.00 if even charged for the use of cot . Also after all the trouble of dealing with a dodgy Tv , we were told if we needed a High Chair that would be an additional $40.00 - you got to be kidding me. As well as next door the room having renovations while we were in the Spa and hearing an angle grinder on a Sunday afternoon. I highly recommend looking elsewhere when booking your next trip to Thredbo.

Response from Propsero, Manager at Lantern Apartments
Responded 14 Jun 2012
Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay and I apologise for the issues you had with the television remote. I know that the staff tried to replace the batteries but you obviously had troubles with it after that. I have ordered a new TV for this apartment as the remote control is not easy to replace on this model. I have also instructed the staff to install a spare TV if this sort of issue occurs in the future. Regarding the bed, I know that my receptionist offered to put an extra doona on the mattress to make it softer for you. The beds are only 2 years old and we have many guests complimenting us on them, I am sorry it was too firm for you. I have also considered your comments regarding the cot and high chair charges. We have these charges in place as the apartments are all individually owned and the owners themselves do not wish to cover the cost of paying staff to setup the cot and provide linen etc. We consequently have a one off charge of $40 to put in a cot, the high chair was charged at the same rate. However in considering your comments I think the high chair charge is excessive in view of the fact that it does not require linen. I have asked the staff to lower the cost for a high chair to $20. Thank you again for taking the time to provide feedback. Regards, Ian Foster.

Nothing short of uncomfortable! stayed here for a few nights beds that hurt your back and sofas feel like it's better to sit on the floor, look it was a nice view but that's it. No shampoo or body wash, few bars of soap won't be staying here again any time soon

Hi. Sorry, I only just saw your question. Yes you can take your bike to the room.
Our unit was one level up and had great views. The deck below I think had screens to separate each apartment's area. There were BBQs there too!
Hi. Thanks for the question. Regarding the specific apartment it is probably best to call us or send an email with some more specifics so we can advise accordingly. You can call on our free call number (not allowed to enter it here) during office hours or email us. You can find our contact details on the website. The information that would be handy is; dates of your planned stay, how many adults and children?
Regarding getting around the village, we are 3 minutes walk from the Village Square which is the centre of town. However you would be walking downstairs on the way to the village so it is an uphill walk on the way back. This can be a challenge for little legs but there is a free shuttle bus service that runs in the snow season and picks up from our driveway every 10 to 15 minutes.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
