We were lucky enough to have just booked in when the NSW regional area lockdown was declared. Having been here for 3 weeks now, not only is it much better to be locked down here than at home, we love it here! Very quiet and very relaxing!!! Initially we went walking in the Border Ranges National Park - we can’t do that now due to lockdown, however there are many great walks through the rainforest. There was a koala in the tree adjacent to our caravan when I got up this morning! I’ve just been asked how we are filling our time; I responded: “We’ve been filling our time really well. Walking, Fishing, reading, sitting by the river, enjoying the bird life (of which there are HEAPS!). The Bell Birds call all day, Blue Winged Kookaburras, a cormorant, Moorhens, Ducks, Swallows, Lorikeets, a Tawny Frogmouth Owl, an Azure Kingfisher and a baby Magpie which has adopted us. There are lots of fish in the creek. At night there are some good sized eels (good eating), plenty of Eel Tailed Catfish (really good eating) and Bass… We saw a Lighting Beetle - really cool with a bright yellow flashing bottom! It’s a bit of a drive into town (29km to Kyogle) but that is one of the attractions! There have been some freight trains each evening and perhaps one or two during the night but they are not at all noisy - we hardly notice them. We have a fire pot every night. There is a great camp kitchen and the owners are very friendly and helpful - a great place to be!!!”
