Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Peppers Salt Resort & Spa Kingscliff is celebrated for its prime location, offering guests easy access to the beach and nearby dining options, contributing to a convenient and enjoyable stay. The ambiance of the resort is often described as tranquil and inviting, although some guests feel certain areas could benefit from a refresh. While the spaciousness and furnishing of the rooms are appreciated, inconsistency in cleanliness and the need for updates have been pointed out.
The value proposition of the resort is a point of contention, as some guests consider it overpriced, particularly noting the additional costs for services and the absence of expected amenities. Moreover, service quality has been an area of concern, with reports of delayed assistance and overlooked requests. The amenities provided are deemed adequate; however, critiques include limited poolside offerings and variability in room features.

Detailed Reviews
This review is based on a privately owned unit rented through air bnb within the Peppers Salt Resort. The unit is not serviced (the ones not privately owned I think are). I do not know who cleans the private ones between stays but on arrival we found food on some of the crockery in the cupboard and on a sandwich press in the drawer. The air conditioner was noticeably dirty and the condensation built up quickly and was dripping on the floating wood floor which was warped so it has obviously been like that for a while. The wood floor was noisy especially when sneaking to the dunny during the night/early morning. The mattress on the queen bed needed replacing and the wooden base was noisy. There was a decent mid size fridge for food and drinks in the self contained kitchen which was basic but did its job. Only a small two hot plate electric stove but you couldn’t fit two pots/fry pans on it together. No dedicated oven, only a convection microwave. There is a private plunge pool outside most of the ground level units which was nice to have. Washer and dryer were a good size and very handy. While sweeping the floor, found a heap of sand under the mat in the lounge area and it wouldn’t hurt to clean under the couch and beds once a month as there was a lot of dirt in those places. No, we didn’t go looking for it - the management asked if they could search for an item that the previous occupant had left behind! There is secure parking for only one vehicle per unit underneath the complex and the parking spaces are very tight. We did not eat at the Seasons restaurant as it was only open for breakfast due to the COVID restrictions. The Mantra is next door with a number of different restaurants (Indian, Thai, Mexican, Fish and chips) and the main bar/grill so we didn’t go without. Very good access to the beach and the walking /cycling paths which are an impressive feature along the coast. The main swimming pool is very well presented and is serviced by a small bar and cafe. The staff were very accomodating and friendly as well however if you booked privately you cannot charge to your room - it’s pay as you go (no big deal). There is a smaller ‘tropical’ style pool at the rear of the complex with a spa which was also well maintained. Overall, the self contained room had what we expected and was comfortable although a little tired. The hotel grounds including the pools are well maintained and the staff were very helpful. I would stay here again but probably book through the actual hotel to see if the room cleanliness differs.

We had a brilliant stay of 6 nights
Walk to the beach, great for walking.
A well thought out resort. Especially pools with gradual increase in depth great for kids then pool lounges other side / more adults only side.
Apartments are good size and practical with great design
We had two rooms / a plunge pool garden view then the non plunge pool apartment with a verandah with pool view
Reception 24/7
Free underground parking
Shame the restaurant was only open for breakfast, we really enjoy dinner where we stay / and also able to get drinks later at restaurant
Beach pool bar was good though with drinks and snacks available
Staff are great

Really good. We booked a one bedroom spa suite and it had everything you could want. It was modern had an outdoor table and sun lounges overlooking palms and pools. Inside was a lounge, dining room and kitchenette as well as a washing machine with separate dryer.
In the kitchen all the utensils for cooking and eating on had been thoroughly cleaned and wrapped in plastic due to be COVIDSafe. Only complaint I’d make here is that there weren’t enough plates, glasses and cups for a 5 day stay as you wouldn’t want to put the dishwasher on daily.
Room service doesn’t come before 3 as this is a very large resort and they clean the rooms of people vacating.
The resort is close very close to Kingscliff beach where you can walk for kms in any direction.

The resort is nice but very noisy, we booked a mid week stay hoping it would be quiet, but in reality it was not. Lots of families with small children screaming in the pool all day so sitting on the balcony was not possible. If your neighbors are in and out of their apartment regularly you will hear the two doors slam very loudly and if it’s early morning or late night they will wake you. If you like a dark room to sleep this is not for you, the bedroom in our spa suite had glass sliding doors to the lounge which does have blockout blinds but they don’t make it really dark and you have to leave them open anyway as the air con unit is in the lounge only. The room was well equipped and very clean, the WiFi poor with constant drop outs. The main pool is not heated the second pool is slightly warmer and the hot tub lovely and warm. Our package included breakfast, food selection was good but all the hot food stone cold both mornings we went so didn’t bother with it after that. Beware where you park, we came back after parking overnight and found our car massively covered in bird poo, at night they roost in the car park, we found a car wash in tweed and were careful not to park under any pipes or areas the birds could roost in. I think families with small kids will love the place, adults and couples looking for a relaxing break not so much. Bed was very comfortable, shower only lukewarm on hot only. Staff were courteous and helpful. Lots of great food places in area in easy walking distance, the gelato place is awesome as is the Mexican.

We booked during COVID. We ended up eloping and drove all the way from Sydney. We paid $300 a night for a tiny hotel room. We booked on their website direct and what they showed on the website was not what you got. It showed you'd have a balcony overlooking the pool. But it's luck of the draw, you could be overlooking the carpark. We asked to stay in an apartment as we had clothes to wash and reception said that would be fine. We could upgrade at any point in time. We went to upgrade the next day and were told we couldn't everything had been booked out for weeks. We were also advised we could go to a laudry mat to do our washing. We specifically put in the booking that it was for our honeymoon and we ended up washing our clothes in the sink. They didn't even offer laundry service.
Very poor sign posage. We got stuck in the basement for 20 minutes. A staff member came by and directed us but even the staff complain about poor signage and they still don't do anything about it.
The small fridge froze all our food and we had to throw it out. They didn't provide utensils we had to ask for them and wash them in our bathroom.
No privacy the balconies are so close to each other.
It was very disappointing to say the least.
We are planning our actual wedding in NZ and had to postpone our booking with Peppers over there but due to our experience, we will definitely go with someone else.

We had a great weekend away here as a couple. The one bedroom suite was fresh, modern and spacious. I loved the in-room Nespresso machine with two free pods. The staff were very lovely and helpful. The room was private and had great views over the pool. Even on this very wet rainy weekend we really enjoyed the resort. The beach-style pool with sand surrounds was clean and beautiful and forms the heart of the resort. The on site Seasons restaurant served up a delicious meal, and we enjoyed a pre-dinner cocktail and entree at the Lobby bar and lounge. Taking advantage of the breakfast included deal, we thoroughly enjoyed the selection of healthy and indulgent options to choose from and found it to be great value if you feel like a big breakfast.

Couple stayed for three nights in a Unit overlooking the pool, the Unit had a large balcony. The Unit was well appointed and included a washing machine. The Unit was spacious and had a bedroom section which could be closed off from the adjoining lounge area.
There was secure underground parking.
Breakfast was available in the restaurant. All food and drinks were behind a servery or counter and only accessible to staff not general public which was very hygienic. Staff were very amenable and were helpful and very generous in portions and selections available.
There is a Hotel and a number of other restaurants in the adjacent complex.

We returned to Peppers after three years and it was just as comfortable, clean and enjoyable. We had a one bedroom apartment facing the pool and we enjoyed the quiet location in our well appointed room. The only reason I haven’t given 5 stars is with regards to the breakfast which was included and wasn’t as good as I have experienced at this property. I don’t believe that it’s necessary to pay extra for a cappuccino and there could have been some sourdough bread available with larger toasting facilities as the queue was quite long having to wait for toast. Maybe an egg cooking station would also help as the eggs on offer were swimming in warm water and not very appealing. We decided to have breakfast across the road without the hassle.

It started with a problematic booking experience where I was trying to extend my stay which then ended up with spending an hour on the phone trying to explain to customer service that their booking/cancellation policy was different on two pieces of information I had been sent (I later received confirmation that indeed there was an error on the website and in the email confirmation). Therefore I was already feeling underwhelmed before I arrived.
The welcome at the reception was lacklustre; the room and the resort overall the same. Really does need an update/refurb.
No mini bar in the room, very basic tea/coffee selections, no laundry facilities (not even self serve washing). There was a sachet of dishwashing liquid, a dish cloth and a tea towel in the mini bar suggesting that we were to wash our own tea cups and water glasses - not what you expect from a 'luxury 5 star resort'.
Our first day our room was not attended to by housekeeping by 4pm so we asked for it to be serviced. They came in whilst we were there and all they did was make the bed (no sheet change) and we had to ask for fresh towels. They did not empty the rubbish, clean the bathroom or vacuum/dust/wipe anything. We had used the tea cups but they did not clean or replace these.
We were given a letter asking how we would like our room serviced for Christmas Day and Boxing Day, we requested a 'light service'. Not entirely sure what a light service included, however once again rubbish was not emptied nor were cups cleaned or replaced (nor were the tea/coffee provisions replenished). Had to request soap!
Poorly designed bathroom with a door that when open you were trapped between the basin and the door and would hit your elbow trying to brush your teeth or hair.
The air conditioner leaked condensation all over the table where we had electrical items such as laptops/headphones and phones.
Breakfast was ok, but nothing special. Charging additional for barista coffee always seems unnecessary to me.
We had a breakfast included rate and on the last day we had to leave at 6am and when requesting whether we could get a take away coffee or pastry via room service or pick up at reception upon check out (as the restaurant didn't open until 7am) we were simply told 'no'.
:ocation is good for the beach and the pool is ok.
Overall disappointed for a Peppers product (noted as Premuim and Luxury) particularly for the resort sector.

We stayed at this resort 15 years ago and again just last week, the rooms and general hotel space have not been renovated since it was originally built. Upon check out we found our car had been bombarded by bird dropping in the under ground car park, we mentioned this to passing staff who said ohh, and kept walking. The beds are old and were noisy when you moved around, again this resort is well past is used by date and requires a complete renovation. I would not stay here again unless it has been renovated. The hotel also needs to keep the birds from siting on pipes etc in the car park.
