We booked last-minute on the phone as we were driving, so didn't do our usual research, unfortunately. Got talked into the roof-top 3-bdrm spa unit for just the 2 of us who were desperately needing a break and sleep after a bereavement. Paid for two nights on arrival, before seeing the unit. The Manager told us the spa would be hot in an hour,,,it never heated at all. I phoned reception but got a call service. Later received a text that they would fix it tomorrow. Both of us searched the whole unit for the source of a loud humming/vibrating noise which continued all night. This was so disruptive that I hardly slept, even with earplugs. Then the builders started on renovations to the next-door unit at 7.30am, and housekeeping noisily cleaned the adjacent unit from 8.20am. At 10am I went to Reception and politely waited until there were no other guests, then explained that due to our sleep deprivation, we wanted to check out. No credit for the second night due to the Terms and Conditions. We did receive a credit for the difference in spa room price for ONE night (because they apparently fixed it after we left so it was "available"), and a small credit for the room lacking some basic items. But it still ended up being a $500 night of stress and not much sleep. We surmised that the noise came from the centralised air-conditioning units and the concrete layout made it reverberate around the whole complex.

Sadly not a lot of positives here except for the location...our mean reason for choosing to stay here. Cons - $20 per night parking... not the norm in Kingscliff. Just include it in the price upfront. - Room was dated, dark and dusty. Every piece of dark timber furniture was either stained, chipped or very shabby. Even the soap holders were falling off the wall. The lounge was large, but hard to enjoy when so stained. Floors were dirty, extra pillows mouldy, missing dining chair replaced with an outdoor chair. Sliding doors very hard to open. - Pool and walkways very depressing. Everything is either mouldy or uncared for. Even the kids didn’t want to swim. There was rubbish left at our door on arrival which wasn’t a nice first impression. It stayed there for 24 hours. Pros - the unit is large and a great sized balcony with bar table and chairs plus a 6 seat table and chairs. We spent most of our time on the balcony as it felt cleaner. The kitchen was well appointed. I understand units may be privately owned but a certain level should be maintained. Our unit would be amazing with some new light furniture, a paint job and a thorough clean. The dark oranges, reds and timber don’t help. As an Oceanside apartment it could be so much more. The lobby was lovely. The one young man cleaning was very cheerful. Eating out was hit and miss. All in walking distance. Great coffee and food at Choux Box and The Salty Beardman. Wouldn’t return to Phoebe’s across the road. Great park and walkways across the road. Beach wasn’t great this time but usually nice.

Stayed three nights in an ocean view room on the first level. For a property with a good location the property was incredibly disappointing. Tired, dirty and dated. Ingrained dirt on floor tiles, dust, hair scatted throughout, unpainted roof repairs, broken air conditioners the list goes on. These conditions would be unacceptable in a budget motel, let alone in one claiming to be a ‘resort’ at $400 a night. AVOID!

Stayed in a Deluxe 3 bedroom apartment. However the third bedroom which was next to the living area had open slated doors allowing light and noise. Unsuitable for kids. Unsuitable for a family. Showers were reminiscent of a surf club facility not a deluxe unit. Speaker was broken and unable to be replaced. I was told the units are individually owned and they had to contact the owners. A true resort would have spare equipment so this is not a resort. Air conditioning is not ducted and not in all rooms. Air con units full of mould. Ceiling fan in main was faulty. Lights that do not work. Washing machine was temperamental only allowing a few items to be washed at a time. The list is long. I tried dealing with staff but after first couple of attempts I gave up as they said they would have to contact the owner. Again this is not a resort. Not worth the money paid!

I’m not one to usually write reviews but our experience at Paradiso was so bad I feel like it should be shared so people don’t get the shock we did on arrival. I’m not sure what was worse? The filthy scatter cushions covered in stains sitting on the beds and the couches? The horrendous state of the outdoor area or perhaps the long list of items that were broken....the dishwasher, cable tv, a sun lounger, dryer and the internet. I’ll admit the staff tried to get the dishwasher fixed, they came and removed the disgusting cushions and the wifi eventually worked but it honestly feels like the place is falling to pieces. We stayed in a 2 bedroom rooftop apartment and the photos looked bright and fresh which was far from reality. The apartment is spacious and a great layout but it’s dated and in desperate need of some TLC. The staff were pleasant to deal with (especially the trainee who was a delight) but clearly management have let the building go. And each apartment is quite a different standard as they’re privately owned so the room we had was nothing like the advertised images. It’s a great location and affordable but maybe pack some cleaning products and a few tools in your suitcase!
