This weekend we were the very first guests to stay at West Midland Safari Park's new safari lodges.
We had reserved two elephant lodges for my Mums 50th birthday present months ago and really got lucky that lockdown restrictions lifted in time for our trip.
Our trip also was on my husbands birthday weekend, the staff went above and beyond and offered all sorts of extras pre stay.

When we arrived the check in was smooth, the staff were all welcoming and excited as we were, being the first guests they greeted and checked in! 🐘

We spent the day inside the park opting to do the safari on the second day.

At 4pm we headed to the lodge. They were so authentic, the decor, the little extras supplied and even down to the crazy light cables making it feel like you were in Africa on a safari 🐘🦒🦏🦌

Due to covid they are offering in lodge dining which we opted to eat in one lodge altogether. We made our food choices pre arrival and selected breakfast once at the lodge.
The food menu is not your usual pub meal and they have really gone high end and I initially worried about the quality with them having to deliver it but the food was warm, was delicious and exactly as we ordered it! Not a complaint in site.

As we were the first guests we were given a complimentary hamper which is usually chargeable and delivered some chocolates.

The guest manager greeted us on departure and asked for our honest feedback and any snagging about the lodge which we gave (simple things like door mats so the gravel dust doesn't wreck the beautiul wooden floors).

The elephants well they held up our checkout as they didn't want to get out of bed but we saw them and enjoyed watching them explore their new surroundings (it was their first day/night in the new paddock so maybe not as active as they would be in a few weeks).

Its worth noting that the cheetah and elephant lodges are in the same area and both have viewing points too so we got to see the cheetahs up close also. 🐆🐘

Having stayed at 3 different safari lodge experiences now, I can safely say they are worth the money. Alot of people are put off by the prices but a days trip round west midlands safari and rides for a family of 4 costs £113. You get 2 days worth of that, breakfast, dinner and the exclusivity of the overnight stay!

The memories will last a lifetime. We would highly recommend.

Me and my boyfriend stayed in one Cheetah lodges, specifically the Maasai Lodge.
My mum had got me this as a gift for my birthday so booked over a year in advance, as the dates go really quickly! You can organise added extras as my mum did such as balloons, flowers and Prosecco which is a very nice touch.

The woman who greeted us on arrival was so helpful and super friendly, and the guy who escorted us up to our lodge was very knowledgeable about the park itself and the lodges. He explained everything and then left us to it.

The second we went into the lodge the cheetahs came over to the window, and pretty much didn’t leave throughout the whole stay! It was magical.

The whole lodge was exceptionally clean, as if it had never even been used, everything looked brand new. The detail to the design was impeccable too, even the plates fitted with the theme of the lodge. The beds were comfy, and the robes provided were a nice touch to lounge around in.

The cheetah lodges are opposite the elephant lodges, where there is a viewing platform for you to go over to and look out to the elephants without disturbing other lodges and the same for the cheetah enclosure, there is a separate viewing area for those wanting a sneak view! :)
The WiFi works (unusual for any hotel stay) and is quick, and the TVs are smart TVs so you can log into your own Netflix/disney plus etc. you can also see the CCTV from the other enclosures, it varies from red pandas, elephants and cheetahs which is interesting to view, without disturbing the privacy of other lodge guests!

There is air-con as the rooms do get hot with the big windows on nice days. The waterfall shower was amazing too!

There is a minibar, filled with alcoholic and soft drinks at an extra charge but it’s not too much for soft drinks (personally I think the wines/Prosecco were a tad expensive).
You can take your own drinks so I would suggest that to save on costs :)

Dinner was brought to you, again the staff were very friendly. It was a tad cold on arrival but nothing a quick blast in the microwave didn’t sort. You get to pick your meal slots to suit you also.

We sat and watched a film, with an amazing sunset, watching the cheetahs just snooze, roam around and play. It was amazing!

We fell asleep and was awake early to get ready for a VIP tour we booked separately (and would also highly recommend) where we had breakfast delivered early so we could be on time.

Again breakfast had a range of items to suit anyone and was delicious.

Overall an amazing stay, every detail accounted for and would deffo go back and visit another lodge (hopefully when the tiger ones are ready!)

We had a wonderful stay with our grandson in May. Originally due to stay earlier in the year, but due to restrictions it had to be changed a couple of times; although the reservation dept kept in touch and were super efficient. A couple of days before our visit we received checking-in info and on the day you arrive you park and leave your car at the reception unless you are going into the safari park so super convenient. We received ‘five star’ treatment from the moment we arrived until sadly we left, our elephant lodge was furnished in an African style with gorgeous bed linen, one large double bed downstairs and a bunk room for four upstairs. The only downside is there is only one loo so for larger groups that may be a problem. The food was delivered when we requested it and was tasty, lodges spotlessly clean and amazing staff! We took our own snacks and a bottle of wine as advised on previous reviews. Elephants are free to roam around their enclosure so they aren’t always in view, but don’t stress as they popped up all of the time and their keepers strategically place treats for them near the lodges. Expensive, but we’ll worth the treat and we certainly got our money’s worth out of the park as wrist bands gave us unlimited fairground rides and access to all of the animal attractions. We shall definitely return as we loved, loved, LOVED IT! Well done West Midlands Safari Park! 🐘🦒🦓🦏🐫🐅🐘

We stayed in the tsavo elephant lodge for one night for my birthday which was a surprise from my girlfriend. The lodges are lovely and we'll equipped with tea and coffee facilities, the bed was luxurious and spacious and overall everything felt well thought out and premium. We also got plenty of elephant action throughout the morning and a bit in the evening.

The parking situation for the lodges aren't the best as they are situated along one of the main roads to the safari which means your trying to park whilst people are anxiously waiting to get to the safari. To get to the lodges you take a minibus which takes you from the parking space up to your lodge which takes a route against traffic thought the end section of the safari which can take time when the safari is busy.

The lodges themselves are lovely as I said but they do feel like they may have been rushed to finish. in our one the frosting on the bathroom window was only half there meaning if someone is walking by outside they could look in and see you having a shower. Also where the walls of the lodge has been painted white, specs of white paint could be found just about everywhere on the floor and on the back of the door where they haven't cleaned up properly afterwards. The wood flooring also stopped 10mm away from the side of the sliding door and you could see the wood it was put down on, almost like it was missing an edging strip. I know it is small niggles that most people wouldn't notice but for the price they are charging for the lodges you would expect them to be perfect.

The food was lovely and high quality but they asked us what time we would like our food to which we said 6 but as it came around to 7 we still hadn't heard anything so we phoned the guest services who were very apologetic and said it would be another 10 minutes, must have been an issue in the kitchen. Breakfast was also lovely as you can see by the picture but was a tad cold which wasn't an issue as we warmed it up in the microwave provided.

All In All it was a lovely get away with plenty of elephant action just outside the window. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and we had some good food.

Dear georgehX3580OH, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we appreciate all feedback from our guests. We're pleased to hear you found your Lodge well-equipped and enjoyable, with great views of our elephants outside. We are sorry to hear that there were a few areas of your Lodge that seemed unfinished, as this is not the standard we aim to give our guests for our new luxury accommodation. We'd like to assure you that your comments have been taken on board and rectified. We can also only apologise that your food arrived later than expected, but we are glad you enjoyed it nonetheless. As with all new projects, there are often some teething issues at the beginning, but we are confident that we are improving every day and that guests will have a fantastic stay at Safari Lodges. We are delighted you chose to stay with us and were one of our first guests to experience this very unique stay. We hope to look forward to seeing you again in the future. Thank you again for your feedback.

We have just spent three days in three different Safari Lodges at West Midlands Safari Park and it was a truly impressive and memorable experience. Having expected to be wowed by the animals, we were so impressed with all the staff we encountered starting with the friendly and welcoming reception staff and continuing with the transport drivers, the food delivery people and the VIP experience guide. The staff were impressive in the comprehensive knowledge: not just what was needed to do their job but in understanding our bookings and everything we needed to know about the park and the animals.
That is not to say we were not wowed by the animals. Who could not be impressed to be stared at by Nakai [the tiger] as you sat in the hot tub, to sit inches away from a cheetah, or to watch the dexteritary of an elephants trunk twisting and snapping a bunch of twigs. We recognised the frustration of adolescent Sutton [the elephant] who was not getting his own way just like any teenager and understood the curiosity in us shown by Azrael and Bappe [the cheetah brothers] as we watched them but the shock and thrill of finding a fully grown tiger creep up behind you is something you are unlikely to experience anywhere else.
We were concerned about moving between the different lodges but the Park staff made it so easy moving our luggage between lodges for us. The only difficulty experienced is having to cope with different equipment each day. This is, in the main, due to the Lodges being equipt with top-of-the-range TVs, heating systems, microwaves and kettles. Learning how to use these each day was a challenge because our older eyes found the controls difficult to read in the low light levels understandably needed so as not to disturb the animals. It would have been easier if our torch batteries were not running low.
The only disappointment was the food, described in the welcome letter as “sumptuous evening meals and a delicious breakfast”. Whilst appreciating the need, these days, to provide options for every type of diet it does result in the choice being limited if you are staying multiple nights. We discovered, to our cost, that reheating the evening meal in the microwave was essential – it did not say this in the handbook. Tongs/salad servers were provided to remove the breakfast from the container but a spatula would have been useful for the evening meal. The cooked breakfast was not a huge success and the smoked salmon tainted everything on cold platter but we were permitted to swap to a bacon sandwich for subsequent days. These were much better solution. Unfortunately, the food at the Dino Diner was not great. There was little choice if you simply wanted a light lunch. However, the staff were wonderful and the singing dinosaurs great fun. However, the food will not stop us coming again – after all, they have just received planning permission for Lion Lodges.
We added a wonderful Chocolate Mirror Glaze Cake and a Tiger Encounter VIP Experience to our stay. Rachel, our VIP guide, was excellent and being able to get close up to the tigers was an unmissable experience. Rachel was so knowledgeable, kept us safe without being overly fussy and took fabulous photographs. It really was unforgettable and worth ever penny.

Stayed with my husband and son on Saturday 20th August after booking back in February and it was above all expectations having done similar experiences at other locations.
We stayed in one of the two cheetah lodges and after a journey that should have taken 3 hours we finally arrived after 7 hours of a traffic nightmare.
The 2 girls in the office reassured us throughout our journey as our sat nav kept adding on more time due to several accidents and they changed our evening meal time and our transport collection time and were professional, reassuring and friendly throughout.
The lodge itself was beautiful and the cheetahs were already at our window when we arrived!
It really was an incredible experience with viewing balcony’s to observe the elephants and hippos also.
I was lucky enough to wake up at 1.30 in the morning to find both cheetahs pressed up against the window fast asleep which was less than a metre away from the bed.
There are 2 cheetah lodges based at opposite ends of their enclosure and although they slept outside ours, they were fed twice per day from the other, therefore giving both sets of guests great opportunities to view the cheetahs.
We honestly didn’t want to leave!
A bit of advice for future guests and certainly not a criticism of the park, due to the location of the lodges you leave your car at reception and then get transported to the lodge, so although I’m sure if you needed to leave then you could get picked up but I would certainly recommend packing some snacks and fresh fruit especially if you have children with you! There is a mini bar but the park closes at 7pm so you need to pack snacks.
We’ve booked the elephant lodge for 2 nights in November and are already so excited to return!!!
Thank you so much for our wonderful experience!!!

I booked the lodge when they first opened as a birthday surprise for my husband and I am pleased that he was amazed by the experience, as we're we all.

The experience included 2 day passes to the Safari Park, dinner and breakfast. As they are located in their habitat, you are escorted to the Lodges and they will arrange times with you. We shared our short car ride with another couple who were staying in the Cheetah Lodges opposite.

The Lodges are lovely, spacious and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. You are sent menus to chose your meals and time slots for delivery. It's so peaceful, there was a steam train that went puffing past which was nice. You can hear some traffic from the road but we only heard the motorbikes whizzing past.

For parents taking children, the upstairs is where the 3 beds are located with amazing views but there are no blinds or curtains to block out the light so if you or them like the light been blocked, then bear in mind you won't have that in the lodge upstairs.

Huge shower, with robes and slippers. Complimentary biscuits, tea, nespresso coffee and a mini bar but you pay for the items consumed from the fridge.

There are viewing points outside to see the elephants and cheetahs, with some binoculars so you can the white tigers and deer in the distance.

We were lucky enough that the couple we shared the ride back with, let us see the cheetahs from their lodge.

We had an amazing experience.

Absolutely awesome experience, everything was purrfect!!
I can't express enough what an amazing time we had, we went for our daughters 14th bday, cheetahs are her favourite animal. The staff were great, very friendly, helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We were taken to the lodge, they helped load and unload our bags, they showed us around the lodge, talked through the heating and the TV controls (we can watch the animals in other lodges through live feed). The lodge is superb, beautifully decorated, all mod cons, coffee machine and big shower. Milk in the fridge on arrival and great selection of teas and coffees. Beds were so comfy and the little touches of robes and blankets so we could sit in the outside viewing area as the sun rose. We even had a christmas tree which was such a lovely touch and we ordered balloons as a bday surprise. The interaction from Azrael & Bappe (cheetah brothers) exceeded all hopes and expectations and i have so many videos and photos, it was amazing to be that close and my daughter couldnt stop smiling. They sat there grooming eachother for ages. The evening food was really lovely too and delivered hot so no need to re warm. We took our own drinks and popcorn/sweets. The cheetahs were with us right up until sunset. We then spent the rest of the evening playing card games and watching films on netflix, such a lovely relaxing evening. In the morning we woke up to breakfast delivered, now i think this is still relatively new service and this is the only very small negative as the cooked breakfast option came in a jar which is just a bit odd and i think it may probably be best to just offer a continental breakfast which could be put in the fridge on arrival, the croissants, ham cheeses, cereals and breads. We were told they are building a new reception and kitchen for the lodges so this will be a good thing. This is only a very tiny negative and is very indignificant in comparison to all the good things. The cheetahs came to see us first thing until we were picked up at 10.45 (we luckily had an extra 15 mins)
I would definitely book to stay again!
We also did lantern festival on sunday night which was beautiful, well organised. The 2 day access to the park we spent the 1st day morning in the reserve which was so quiet that we could spend lots of time taking photos or feeding the animals and the 2nd day we fed lorikeets, walked around lemur woods and up to the tiger tropics, savannah and grasslands viewpoints.
We felt like we'd been away for weeks.
Thank you wmsp for an amazing time and for finsihing our daughters bday celebrations in style

Stayed at the Serengeti Lodge and couldnt fault the lodge or staff at all. Despite what others say the Cheetah's do spend limited time outside of this lodge with the majority being outside the other Cheetah lodge. We got the action shots of the Cheetah's being fed an evening meal and breakfast and they spent some time outside our windows. They walked by the windows during the night. We know that because the torrential rain had cleared all the footprints out of the sand and when we woke at 2am to check, there were fresh footprints.
The action shots are amazing and we are so glad that we had that opportunity. We would prefer to pay a set price for the lodges and have the Serengeti lodge slightly cheaper than the other lodge. People would then still get the experience but would have less opportunity to moan. We had the TV on and it swapped between the Cheetah compound and the elephants which was lovely but perhaps more camera's would give a better view. We used the viewing platforms which also added to the experience.
I had left my car window open and they came and collected the key, shut the window and then returned the key. Nothing was too much trouble.
The food was delivered in a timely manner and was absolutely delicious and we loved just putting all of the dirty dishes back in the containers and not having to wash up!! We had someone in the group with an intolerance to a food and we had requested that their meal was dairy free, it was, but the food wasnt labelled and it took some persuading before they would try the food. Labelling of the food for people with allergies, dietary requirements should be a given. This was passed on to the receptionist who noted and explained it usually was and she would investigate.
Breakfast again was timely and gorgeous and we ate with gusto!. Drop off and collection was also beautiful with a very caring driver who made sure that we were settled in and had everything we needed, Also, explained, as the receptionist had, that we could call them day or night for absolutely anything,
Although it might seem pricey, it is worth every penny and very luxurious. Two day passes including all rides, three course dinner and breakfast, couldn't fault the experience at all.

Booked a cheetah lodge for my husband's birthday as soon as they went on sale (so glad I did considering they're now fully booked until November 2022).

The stay isn't cheap but our personal experience made it worth every penny, especially with full access to the park and rides/attractions for two days.

All of the staff we encountered during our stay were friendly and attentive and our driver was very knowledgeable and explained how the park works, answered any questions we had, and named the animals we saw during our transfer to/from our lodge. The rhinos were being let out into the park on our way back from the lodge so we had a fantatstic close-up of one month old baby Jambo.

Once you're in the lodge, you're there until the next morning but you can wander around the lodge village and visit both the cheetah and elephant viewing areas. The lodge we stayed in was stunning and felt very authentic, even down to the cricket/birdsong being played over external speakers.

The food delivered to the lodge was very tasty and it was enjoyable to dine in the lodge looking out over the cheetah enclosure. The food was warm enough to our taste but, if you only enjoy your food piping hot, there is a microwave hidden behind a cupboard in the kitchen area.

You share the cheetah enclosure with another lodge opposite. The cheetahs definitely prefer to "hang out" at the Maasai Lodge as they spent the whole of the arrival day pacing and sleeping in front of that lodge. Unfortunately we were in the Serengeti Lodge and could only catch a glimpse of them with the binoculars provided. My husband was thrilled though when they both decided to come across to our lodge on the morning of his birthday. They stayed for around 90 minutes which gave us lots of opportunity for close-ups of these stunning cats. Based on our experience, if you're lucky enough to stay at Maasai Lodge you will get the "lion's share" of cheetah activity.

The only negative based on our experience is having to preempt the transfer time to the lodge on the day of arrival; plans change and we were ready before our alloted time. I did enquire at reception whether we could be transferred earlier but they couldn't accommodate the request.

Treated our daughter to an overnight stay in one of the elephant lodges for her birthday in July; finger's crossed she'll enjoy the experience as much as we did!

Yes you can - you get a code for the lodge area that lets you into the amusement area. You also have an exclusive sea lion show at 10:15. Your wrist bands give you unlimited rides in the park. The lion lodges are excellent - meals in a jar sound a bit odd but they are really good - watch the breakfast because you usually have hot water at the bottom of the jar so pour that out before you put it on the plate. Other meals don’t have that problem. You won’t regret it - enjoy.

Hello you can arrive at the park as early as you want and take advantage of going around the safari park in your car. This is amazing, you can feed the animals that walk around the roads. The giraffes are so tame it’s such a good experience takes an hour or so and you can do it as many times as you like. Also there are other attractions you can see. You can book in and leave your luggage to be taken to your lodge which you can access after 2pm. It’s a great experience hope you enjoy it!
