My first stay in a bed and breakfast. What I liked about the Settlers Inn was the quaintness of the “inn” style, the staff were very nice, and I thought the breakfast included with the stay was very good and hearty. I struggled a bit with the noise of other guests. You can hear talking in other rooms and especially out in the hallway. It’s an old inn, not a modern hotel. This was especially difficult for us in the mornings as our room was by the two cleaning closets and the staff would be out there standing and talking. We did eat dinner at the Inn one night and I did not feel the dinner or drinks were that great, given the prices, sorry to say. I had high expectations from the reviews and also a colleague had stayed there and raved about the food and drinks, so I guess it’s to each his own. Unfortunately we did not get to enjoy the gardens or any of the backyard ambience as it was raining and cold all Memorial Day weekend!

Dear TouristaDeTejas, We're so happy you enjoyed your recent stay at The Settlers Inn. Thank you for sharing a review. We appreciate your feedback. As you mentioned, the Inn dates to the late 1920s, so there are some inherent characteristics of a historic property, but we believe that's part of its charm. We're sorry to hear you were disappointed in your dinner. Please come again when you can enjoy the grounds. We look forward to welcoming you back.

We have visited the Settler's Inn several times before, but always in winter. This summer we were looking to have a weekend away somewhere close to home that we trusted would follow sensible COVID precautions, and we were pleased that we did.

Mask wearing was required in all areas, and all guests and staff complied with this. There were plenty of tables available outdoors and even when it started raining on our first night, the staff helped move our table under the marquee so that we could continue our meal outdoors but sheltered from the weather. We also enjoyed our breakfasts outside on the deck.

The gardens were wonderful, particularly the new Grant's Wood area which had just opened a few days before. We felt very relaxed enjoying the outdoor space, and felt comfortable throughout our stay that the entire staff was taking all the necessary health and safety precautions. We really enjoyed experiencing Settler's Inn at a different time of year, and also appreciated the chance to get away from home for the first time since February. We will be back!

We ended up at the Settler's Inn after having to leave the hotel we had booked for 3 nights that was about 15 minutes away. That hotel had a major broken water system which could not be repaired easily. We were trying to be close to our child's nearby sports camp as she was having major anxiety issues so when we found out we could not stay at the hotel originally booked we rebooked at the Settler's Inn. The only unfortunate issues was that we were booked on the 3rd floor which was the only room they had available at the time. The steps to the 3rd floor were very daunting for my 75 year old mother and there was no elevator but we made the best of it we could. The staff did take our suitcases up and down the steps on arrival and departure which helped. We found the B&B breakfast to be excellant, very filling, and more than enough to not need any lunch. The Settler's Inn did not have the 3 nights we needed but we were able to go for the 3rd night we needed to the Ledges Inn which is part of their hotel system. A very pleasant surprise we did not expect. Our only complaint about the Settlers is the dining room is very dark and we suggest keeping your brown blinds open. Dining on the outdoor deck was full of light and very enjoyable.

We stayed at the Settlers Inn for a two-night midweek getaway. The building is gorgeous, with lots of Arts and Crafts details, and the grounds are lovely, too, with gardens, paths, and a little “beach” by the river. Our room (204) faced the garden and was mostly quiet. Pros were comfy bed, nice sitting area, good bathroom; cons were oldish TV, oddly placed sockets. Staff were friendly and helpful, directing us to events at inn and its sister properties; enjoyed fine dinners at both Settlers and Ledges. Biggest issue was breakfast (included in room rate): due to short staffing, wait for table and for food was quite long, prompting us to go elsewhere on the second morning. Overall, though, would recommend the inn as nice place to stay while exploring the area.

This historic property was wonderful.

They have an outstanding restaurant and we came specifically on a Thursday evening for the live music on the dining deck.

The hotel is well maintained and beautifully decorated.

We booked a queen room which was a little tight with larger traditional bed frame and dresser but it was very comfortable.

Overall we loved this place and would stay here again.

We chose The Settler’s Inn for our Labor Day weekend getaway. We have one more night left on our stay and we are beyond delighted thus far. I have read many other reviews and I’m sure sometimes people can always find something to complain about. Our stay has been wonderful and we are happy to report we have no complaints. Many of the menu items are prepared from locally grown products, the staff is attentive, and the overall experience has been very positive. The pricing is fair and reasonable. The way I look at it is if you want perfection stay home. If you want a great experience go to The Settler’s Inn. We will definitely return.

We were celebrating our anniversary and returned to Settler’s for their outstanding package deal. The deal includes an overnight stay, a $125 dinner voucher with a drink certificate, breakfast and a quaint, fantastic comfortable room. During the stay activities are offered such as beer and wine tasting, and tarot card readings. The grounds are very nice for walks and and stores are drivable distance. Staff are outstanding making your stay the best. The food is delicious and well prepared. The king size bed offers lots of room, and is very comfortable. The ongoing lobby fireplace fills the room with warmth and plenty of seating to relax. We truly enjoyed our stay here as we did this for last years anniversary. Thank you to the staff of Settlers Inn for making our stay a great anniversary.

Went to Settlers Inn to enjoy a nice dinner. Due to Covid they had a sign at the bar indicating that customers have to bring their drinks to the outside garden. However, it was raining and the garden is outside without a tarp or canopy. Also, other guests were allowed to enjoy their drinks in the main lobby. When we asked the bartender about the sign and to see if we could enjoy our drinks inside he said that we had to go out to the garden. When my husband said, “but it’s raining” the bartender rudely and mockingly said “Sorry....sorry for the the rain”. We weren’t blaming him for the fact that it was raining. We had dressed up nicely for the evening and just didn’t want to sit in the bad weather and on wet seats. It was just bizarre. Not what we would expect from a classy restaurant but maybe we misjudged the caliber of Settlers Inn.

Dear A335DUnadinep, We're disappointed to read this review of The Settlers Inn. We apologize for the miscommunication on enjoying drinks outdoors. Our sign to enjoy your drinks outside was to discourage gathering in the Tavern and guests are allowed to enjoy drinks indoors, as long as they practice social distancing. We also apologize for the behavior of our bartender and will speak to our staff. We hope to win back your business in the future.

We stayed at the Settlers Inn for the first time ever. First, their staff gets five stars. From the check in with Kevin, the Maitre-D, the Server, and others are among the best staff ever. The Inn is beautiful, the lobby is wonderful, but the Room was noisy. We were on the first floor and in our room we heard the piano music and noisy patrons at the bar. The room was small but as expected for a B & B. THE RESTAURANT GETS 1 STAR. I ordered the Filet Mignon for $59. This was a Choice-Grade of beef, chewy, fatty and definitely not worth the price. For this price I expected a prime cut of meat of high quality. It was not. The mash potatoes were cold, and there were no oyster mushrooms on the plate anywhere. My wife had salmon with Brussel Sprouts, but again there were no Brussel Sprouts. The restaurant was a big disappointment. So with an average room and a very poor restaurant, we will not be returning. If you choose to stay at the Inn, do not get a room on the first floow.

Hi Philip, We're sorry you had a disappointing experience at The Settlers Inn. We apologize you were disturbed by noise from other guests. The front desk would have been happy to change your room upon request if there was availability. Your comments about dinner take us by surprise, since that's not the typical response from guests. If you let the server know you were unhappy with your meals, they would have offered an alternative. Thank you for your kind compliments about our staff. We'll be sure to pass along your comments. We regret your experience did not live up to your expectations. Please come again so you may find out what makes The Settlers Inn a favorite in the Lake Region.

The Inn was absolutely gorgeous! We stayed in Room 306 (Suite) for 4 nights. The room starts with a little hallway that leads into the stunning bedroom and sitting area with vaulted ceiling and electric fireplace. the King size bed and pillows were so comfy. The huge bay window looked onto the garden and Lackawaxen River. The private bath had a Jacuzzi and walk-in shower and 2 robes to relax in!! The room also included a keurig (no microwave/refrig) which was fine. The suite is on the third floor, so any problems with stairs, definitely choose another room. We had free breakfast every morning in the restaurant, which was absolutely delicious! We had free wine tastings at the bar, with friendly and helpful bartenders, walked and relaxed in the back gardens and had several dinners in the restaurant that were excellent. (May fav was the smoked trout appetizer). Everyone from the Waitstaff, front desk staff and housekeeping were friendly and helped with anything we needed.
