Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very comfy spot in the middle of PA dark sky country. Stopped overnight during the Perseids to visit cherry spring state park. Room was very clean and even had a cat ambassador waiting for us when we arrived much to the chagrin of our dog, Teddie.

I recently stayed here with my ski team for a race at Denton Mountain. The staff was super helpful and friendly in many ways. We once lost our keys, and the staff immediately came from home to let us back in. They also recommended great areas nearby to eat for a great price. The cabins are very cozy and have plenty of room to be comfortable, with particularly nice bathrooms. The surrounding area is beautiful and a short drive from the nearby mountain. Overall, I found my stay here to be beyond satisfactory and definitely recommend it.

Thank you Kayla. No problem with losing your keys, we sent Bob, our handyman right over as soon as you called me and he was happy to help out. I hope you had a chance to eat at Olga's in town or the adjacent Sweden Valley Inn, they are both great places to dine. You and your team are welcome back anytime. Thank you again.

The cabin I stayed in was very comfortable. It was warm and clean. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Also the marketplace next door has really good breakfast sandwiches and a good deal on pizza.

Thank you Jack for your compliments. Our manager Cindy does a great job in keeping the Cabins and rooms clean and she really enjoys people. I hope you did well at your races at Ski Denton. Feel free to return soon and explore the nearby Pa Grand Canyon, Cherry Springs State Park & our very own Cherry Springs State Park for star gazing.

Yuck...The cabins are located next to noisy road, old furniture, carpet, bed as old and lumpy as the hills(kept my clothes on while sleeping). TV did not work. Friends came with us and they had no hot water the second day and due to lack of space they could not even stand in front of the bathroom sink! (rm #3). Rooms musty and aggravated husbands asthma. Though they did not charge us for one night due to no TV, I thought they had some nerve charging what they did for the crappy accommodations. Oh..I almost forgot..the bugs..no screen doors and lots of them get in. Up side, it's next to a small stream which attracted lots of nice birds and as a birder, I liked that.PS: Have absolutely no idea what the persons giving the good reviews are talking about but don't believe them. Luckily we were able to find another place to stay and left after two nights. Can't tell you how happy we were to leave.

Dear Guest, I am sorry you had a less than perfect stay at our Sweden Valley Cabins and I am especially sorry that I was not given the opportunity to address your concerns while you were here at the hotel. The management and staff at the Cabins strive to offer top notch customer service and a clean and comfortable environment. I would like to apologize for any problems experienced during your stay. Although, I would have preferred to speak with you personally during your stay, I am more than happy to address your concerns on this forum. First, As you can see we are located on Pa Rt 6, Pennsylvania’s Classic roadway in the northern tier. Our cabins are a part of what is known as roadside America as we were built in the golden age of motor travel in the 1950’s, as were all of the other lodging and hotel establishments here in Coudersport. I do apologize for the road noise being unaccepted to you. I would like to clarify your comment regarding the beds and furniture of our Cabins as being old. As of the beginning of this year all of our mattresses and box springs have been replaced with new beds and box springs and we have updated all of our in room furniture. I do apologize for the unforeseen TV outage, as I do realize how very important TV is to most people these days. Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of mother nature and as our cable company, Zito Media indicated to us, lightening had struck a nearby pole and was the culprit. This, of course has been remedied. I was pleased I could personally respond within one hour of finding out about the hot water for your friends in Room #3 and was able to remedy it on the spot. When I spoke to them, they did seem happy and pleased that it was being taken care of. You are correct, there are no screen doors on our cabins and yes we do Not, as a practice, spray toxic poisonous chemicals around our cabins as I believe spraying may have more serious consequences than a bug might. I have even investigated this further by viewing all of the other nearby lodging establishments and have discovered that there are no screen doors at any other lodging establishment. You may have given me another idea to include these as an amenity for our guests, thank you. I am glad that you had the opportunity to practice your hobby and to take advantage of the “bird sanctuary” on our property. We have many guests and return guests that are well satisfied with our cabins. We do not feel we misrepresent our Cabins in any way and are somewhat perplexed by your comments in this review, as when my wife spoke to you, you indicated all was well. Be that as it may. We believe we offer a very clean roadside America lodging establishment located in a wonderful area for outdoor activities. I am always available to discuss your concerns with you personally. I can be reached at 814-274-8770

Only cabins now for stargazing. Had a much better time this trip and close to the park also. Plan to come anytime to see the sky, it's amazing to see stars I will never see at home. Great accommodation.

7 of us stayed in this cabin and could have fit 4 more people comfortably. It was absolutely cozy and super clean. There is a huge yard to play sports. There is also a fire pit. You don't even have to leave the property to see the stars. Definitely will return and definitely recommend.

This was a great place to stay. Easy to find, well priced and clean. There was a mini refrigerator in my room, the towels and bedding were clean and fresh. Plenty of parking for bigger cars and trucks. Nearby the Cherry Springs Stargazing state park, beautiful place to get away and unwind while enjoying nature. There were a few people who hunt and fish staying there too.

Stayed here last July 2012. The hotel is old but very clean, Made reservations early this year for this July. Called to reconfirm reservation, left a message...no return call...called next day and was told I would get a call back in 10 minutes... no call...called back and was told by the desk clerk our room "might" have been given away to workers that were coming into the area. The new owner was trying to work something out and would get back to me. Never got the call! I would of arrived with no room available.

I would like to apologize for any problems you had in confirming your reservation. We have owned this hotel since 2007 and have recently hired a new manager and Mandy has just begun learning our reservation system. Your reservation was not given away & I do apologize that we did not personally speak with you in a timely manner. When my wife spoke to you, you had already made another reservation at another excellent nearby hotel. This certainly does not excuse the fact that you were not contacted regarding your reservation. We have built a strong reputation for our customer service, cleanliness, friendly staff and overall goodwill towards our guests. I take this matter very seriously and personally. I assure you I will do everything in my power so this does not happen again. All of our guests comments our extremely important to us and are communicated to our manager and staff Thank you very much for the positive comment regarding our cleanliness. As one of the original Coudersport Hotels, we strive to offer our guests very clean rooms and value for their hard earned dollars. Clean rooms & cabins are what we have built our reputation on.

This is the perfect size lodge for a getaway for the whole family. The owners were kind enough to leave games, dinnerware, seasonings, and extra blankets. The outside is well maintained and clean. There is an area to do a bonfire as well as a picnic table to eat outside. There is a back deck with picnic tables, perfect for breakfast and seeing the stars.

I try to get to Cherry Springs state park in PA. a few times a year to do some stargazing under the beautiful clear sky. As dawn breaks after a long night of enjoying the stars I head 15 minutes down the road to The Sweden Valley Hotel to get some sleep in a nice warm bed, as opposed to the cold hard ground of a tent at the park. This is a great place,,rustic setting and quiet, and right next to a great place to eat,,The Sweden Valley inn. The room is always comfy and clean and the folks are very nice. You can spend a lot more elsewhere , but for $55/night with a microwave and a small fridge what else do you need ?
