The Hyatt House Portland/Downtown has garnered commendation for its friendly and helpful staff, though some visitors have reported frustration with valet parking. Guests consistently highlight the hotel's exceptional cleanliness, from their spotless rooms to the well-kept common areas, enhancing the overall sense of safety and comfort. While the parking fees may deter some, the hotel's reasonable cafe prices and complimentary breakfast offer added value. The hotel's amenities, including a decent breakfast and well-equipped gym, are well-received, despite some concerns over limited nearby dining options and parking costs. The atmosphere is often described as festive, with a modern touch in the lobby and rooms, although a few guests suggest the room decor could be more sophisticated. The rooms themselves receive mixed reviews; they are generally seen as spacious and clean, but a handful of guests have pointed out decor that appears dated. The hotel's location is a highlight for many, celebrated for its scenic river setting and convenient access to downtown Portland's attractions and dining.

I am a World Hyatt member and will say Hyatt Regency is my favorite of all the Hyatt brands. This new property right across from the Portland Convention Center is a gem. Everything is pretty new and the place is clean. I like the flavored water at the lobby. The rooms are clean and modern. I like the motion activated lights at the base of the bed and in the bathroom. The shampoo, conditioner and bath gel are anchored to the wall. I prefer the bottles but I understand they are a big waste. Since the floors are not carpeted which I like, I feel that Hyatt should provide every room with slippers but that does cost extra money. They do provide them for free. I asked for robes and slippers. They came late because she said that several people had asked for robes and slippers. Not a big deal, it would be nice if every room had robes and slippers. Last tip for your stay. I don't know if I looked hard enough on the website for the parking details but if you are driving, know that it is cheaper to valet park than to park in the garage on your own. I learned that the hard way and was told at check in after I paid $4 to park. Valet parking is 36/day. That is standard and the valet team is exceptional! Call them before you leave your room and give them 10 minutes to get your car. It'll be waiting for you when you get down. Loved that. Overall, I am very happy with my stay and would return again. They are good to their Hyatt members. I had a top floor river view upgrade, free bottles of water, and a check out of 2p.m. I thought that was a nice touch.

My wife and I stayed at this property for 32 days. The location was outstanding, being across the street from a streetcar line. Being over 65, if you are doing a long term stay, it is well worth the $28.00 monthly transit pass that gets you unlimited rides on street cars, light rail, and buses. Back to the hotel. The staff could not have been better. Special shout out to Kai, Martin, Sailor, Taylor, and Jim from Engineering. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. There was no daily cleaning of the room, but whenever we wanted our room cleaned, all we had to do was give the front desk 24 hour notice. Clean towels, shampoo, soap or anything else needed was available every day from the front desk. Breakfast is still pre-packaged with a hot item available daily (either eggs, sausage and potatoes, or eggs, french toast and bacon), granola, fresh fruit cups, yogurt, bagels, cereal, juice, milk, coffee, and tea. Our 1 bedroom unit had a living room area with a tv, a bedroom with a door that could be closed off with another tv, and a little kitchenette with a full size refrigerator/freezer. There is a a small stove top where we were able to cook several of our meals. Furthermore, there were two gas grills on the second floor available to guests to use. The property is two blocks from the Willamette River and there is a walking trail that goes along the river and past a few restaurants and shops. Overall a great stay!

We took a short weekend trip to Portland with our 2 young boys. The location was perfect as we were going to the Moda center for a Trailblazers game. The rooms were perfect for us. Very clean and the setup was perfect. The kitchen area was helpful for a quick meal and the sitting area was sectioned off from the sleeping area so we didn't feel like we were on top of each other. The pool was warm and clean and the breakfast was plentiful and delicious. This was our second time staying here. We had such a great experience the year before that we immediately chose to stay there again. I'm sure there might be other more convenient locations if you have specific tourist areas in mind but for the cost and comfort we loved it.

This hotel has a specific policy only to this location that no other Hyatt has. They ONLY accept chip reader cards (it says this nowhere online or in their policies) and they only keep 1 person in the entire hotel for staff after 5pm. Front desk girl was very rude and didn’t try to help at all said nope and you have to wait for manager to approve a refund and there is no manager on site at 6pm on a Tuesday. Went and stayed at the Mark Spencer for cheaper, bigger, better rooms with excellent service. Avoid this hotel at all costs there are better deals and better service elsewhere. They really need to fire this front desk girl for being rude and swearing at customers.

A good location with the streetcar stopping right outside the hotel. Our room was spotlessly clean and quiet, despite being across the street from a construction project. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast is not the standard buffet and omelet station due to the pandemic, but it was OK. There is only one selection for a hot breakfast which is scrambled eggs with link sausage and potatoes in a box. But it tasted fresh and they also had yogurt and dry cereals available. As others have mentioned, the hotel only has valet parking. However there are 2 public garages about 1/2 block away on the same street. The one on the right hand side is less expensive at $18 for 24 hours and less for 14, 8, or shorter times. We were happy here and will return.

Very friendly staff in all departments. Nice room. Housekeeping can use improvement. Be aware that if you park your car it's $43 per day. You can park on the metered street but it's a 4-hour max. Good location - can walk to several restaurants of varying prices and lots of bike/scooter rentals very close by. I also advise you don't go wandering by yourself at night because there are a lot of "Skid Row Style" streets.

We only stayed 1 night but we loved it. Super clean, spacious King Studio in a great location. We walked along the River and there were restaurants very close by. Scooter/bike rentals were 2 blocks away and the Saturday Market was only 5 minutes away by car. The only negative thing is they only offer valet parking ($39/night). You can park on the street but it's metered. During COVID-19, it was quite and we had a few parking choices but if this ever passes, I suspect that parking would be a nightmare.

Spent 11 days here with my partner. Off the bat, the lobby and front desk staff are very professional. The space is spotless. The room was similarly tidy, but did not live up to some of its promises. We paid for a room advertised as having a view of either the river or the west hills of Portland. What we got was a view of condos and passing trains across the street. The room was nice to look at, but more than a little crowded with the kitchen island and huge entertainment center. Bed was comfortable, but pillows were lumpy and worn out.

Most of this is minor, so I wasn't unhappy with the stay as a whole. The location is great. Close to the riverfront, with a streetcar stop right outside, and less than a mile away from the park blocks. People visiting Portland should expect to use transit, so having a stop so close is a nice bonus.

COVID precautions were very strictly followed by staff, but there was still the issue of some guests ignoring those rules, no matter how clearly posted the signs are. Because of that, and because of the rising cases nationwide, I didn't feel great about the pool and fitness center being open. While I mostly felt safe during my stay, there was more than one occasion where I passed by other guests in narrow halls or elevators who refused to keep their masks on. I understand this is very difficult for the staff to enforce, but it is still a concern.

When we arrived, we went to check in and were informed there was a $59/day fee to park. I was shocked as I thought I'd read when booking that parking was included in the price (I chose this over an AirBnB because the cost was comparable... not with the parking added in though!) I asked if there were more affordable options, and was told the nearest garage was $17 each time you left and came back and that it wasn't under security and was frequently vandalized. So, NO. There really wasn't.

Everything in the room was nice and clean, except you can tell it needed a DEEP clean. There was a stain (maybe old gum?) in the carpet, and the grout in the bathroom needed a good bleaching. Also the previous guest's dishes were left in the dishwasher (cleaned, but still).

The breakfast was okay. If you're coming from the east coast, it's basically lunch. They only serve from 7a-10a (which is 10a-1p EST). But you're not missing much. Powdered scrambled eggs, reheat and go sausage links OR bacon (not both) and ONE sweet bread (pancake one day, waffle another, french toast another). Some precut-premixed fruits, breads, and assorted cereals.

The pool was refreshing and clean. The staff were friendly, and the valet folks were fantastic.

The hotel was very quiet. We were given a room on the 6th floor. We could see the river, but it was a very industrial view. Due to restrictions, many things were closed or restricted to taking back to the room. Not well noted that if you want valet to park your car and you can do without the “in and out” luxury, the cost is $25 instead of upwards $43.

We had a corner suite with a living room, full kitchen including full sized refrigerator, ceramic range, pots pan dishes and silverware, king size bed, electric window shades, and walk in shower. On top of that, the breakfast buffet was terrific with made to order omelettes, French toast etc. even the restaurant was excellent for dinner.

They did stayovers late. I simply told the front desk after this happened once that I needed our room cleaned now (at 10 am) and it was done. Had to do it each day. Also saw the housekeeper and told her.
