Last evening after driving over an hour to Portland, I checked into a stunningly beautiful hotel. I couldn't believe the renovations that have occurred since my last visit before the Covid-19 shutdown—upon entry into the hotel, then welcomed by the front desk clerks, Greyson and Eric. Their enthusiasm for the city and hotel was contagious! Immediately they shared information about what to do in the city and the services offered at the hotel. I especially appreciated the recommendation to try the tomato and peach salad provided in the hotel's restaurant. The restaurant is circled within windows to capture a view of downtown Portland. Bradley is one of the bartenders, his assistance to make a food selection was helpful. His explanation of the food items was like taking a tour. Although the combination may sound strange, it was the perfect match. The rooms are fabulous! I love that the flooring is wooden. It no longer contains the reminisces of the 1990's versions of the Marriott hotels. As a Titanium-Platinum rewards member, I have experienced those hotels. The hotel is chic with sprinkles of items that represent the city of Portland. I definitely will revisit the hotel.

Hotel's Favourite
My husband and I try to stay here once a year around his birthday. We look forward to this staycation all year long as we both don't have many opportunities to get away from the kids. We were beyond amazed with the renovated hotel. Formerly the Marriott City Center, The Bidwell is gorgeous! We love all the natural wood throughout the building and the High Horse bar is so nice. Bradley at the bar was very nice and made me a custom cocktail since I am picky and very rarely drink. It was yummy! We spent most our time in the high floor room with views of the north side. Maybe we have to stay twice a year now lol! My parents will be visiting in the summer and I told them to stay here.

Hi GigglyMama, Wow! What an awesome review of your stay...thank you!! I'm so happy to hear you had an amazing parents getaway (definitely a time to be treasured). Fun fact about the natural wood throughout the hotel: It's responsibly sourced from a farm in the PNW and made from trees that have already fallen down. Not only can we love the look, but we can feel good about it too! I look forward to sharing your feedback with Bradley (isn't he rad?!) and the rest of our team! We are especially excited to host your parents this summer; please reach out to me personally when you're making travel arrangements so I can ensure you and your parents the best stay. We appreciate you for spending your special time away with us, and we can't wait to start welcoming you back for your *quarterly* visits! I’m always excited to visit a newly remodeled hotel. Bidwell looks great and is comfy for the most part. The negatives were a noisy in-room HVAC system that you cannot turn off and kinda cheap furnishings. I can’t imagine they will weather well. Biggest positive was the staff! They were awesome.

To be upfront and honest, I feel terrible for writing this review so late. The team at The Bidwell Marriott in downtown Portland are true ALL-STARS and should be commended for their great hospitality. As mentioned in the title of our review, the team at The Bidwell are essentially family due to how they treated us during our stay. My fiancé and I had originally drove up to Portland with our puppy Bruno in June 2021 with the intent of it being just a weekend getaway. We tend to drive up to Portland a couple times per year so that we can get away from the hustle and bustle of the Bay Area in California. We always have a great time visiting the PNW though our last experience was probably one of the best. To try to keep this review short (haha), our weekend getaway turned into more of a two week stay due these two reasons: a deer and our "family" at The Bidwell. On the Saturday evening the night before my fiancé and I had to drive back home, we had the unfortunate event of hitting a deer on the 5, coming back down from Seattle. Fortunately my fiancé, our puppy and I were all okay after the accident even though our car was totaled. After being assisted with WA state patrol, we were dropped off at the next exit by the Towing Company that came to pick our car up. It was 11 pm and we were more than 100 miles away from The Bidwell. We needed to get back to the hotel but due to lack of drivers on both rideshare apps (Uber and Lyft) due to Covid we could not find a driver. This is where the team at The Bidwell stepped up, went out of their way and showed us their character! My fiancé called the front desk and let them know of our predicament - Samara, the one who was on the phone, showed great empathy and went out of her way to locate an individual who would be able to pick us up. She knew we were in a tough spot and made sure to do whatever she could to find someone. Keep in mind again we were over 100 miles away which was roughly an hour and a half drive from the hotel. The driver who was arranged by Samara to pick us up was super friendly and caring. He knew we had a rough night and just insisted for us to rest and relax and was accommodating to us when we asked if we could have our puppy Bruno on our laps. He also provided us water and even put some soothing music on for us in the car as well. Upon arriving back at the hotel, we were greeted warmly by the staff. They knew of what just happened and didn't keep us downstairs too long as they knew we were tired. They just wanted to make sure that we were all okay and we appreciated that. Not wanting to end our trip on such a sour note, my fiancé and I decided to extend our trip in Portland. Unfortunately, The Bidwell was booked for the next couple of days due to the record-breaking heat wave that was currently going on and so my fiancé and I had to settle on another local hotel. As Samara was not there at the time we arrived earlier that morning, we made sure to pay her a visit later that day. My fiancé and I walked from the hotel that we were staying at later that day to personally thank Samara for what she was able to do for us. I would say that most people would have stopped at just suggesting our Ride Share options but Samara made sure that we were going to get back home that night. After staying a few nights at the other hotel, my fiancé and I decided to book out another week at The Bidwell. Every single interaction that we had with each of the team members at The Bidwell treated us as if we were like their family. Jamelyn, Cameron, Tommy, Eric to just name a few were all wonderful to us. Every single thing that we had requested for, whether it was a request for extra towels or for valet, everyone completed the task with a smile. We had many great conversations over the course of the week that we had stayed and wished that we could have stayed even longer. To put the cherry on top, we were also given a parting gift by Samara of a local artist's drawing of a deer, which we thought was a funny and such a kind gesture. (We have since put the drawing on our bookshelf in the living room where we will always be reminded of the team and our trip back in June/July 2021) From now on every time we stay in Portland it will be at The Bidwell Marriott. Everyone there and The Bidwell will always have a special place in our hearts. We hope that everyone over there is doing great and we miss you all and that we hope to see you all soon!! -Jean and Christine

Jean and Christine!!!! Man, do we miss you and Bruno already! It was such a treat getting to host your unintentional, extended stay ; ) I can confidently speak for the entire team when I say that we are SO glad you were all okay after your car accident. Even though the circumstances surrounding your stay were not the best, we appreciated all the positivity you brought to each of as. We loved having you here! With all of our interactions, it definitely felt like we had our family staying here with us, not like we were working. So thank you for making it your time here as pleasant for us as it was for you. Thanks again for your sweet words. You are welcome back anytime, and we hope that is sooner rather than later! Safe travels until next time, friends! Warmest Regards, Jamelyn
