Detailed Reviews
My wife and I stayed at Loloma Lodge for 4 nights in mid-November of 2022. We are considering moving to Oregon and wanted to spend some time in the heart of the state; the lodge is 1 hour from Eugene, 1 hour from Sisters, an hour and a half from Bend, and 20 minutes from the gorgeous Koosah and Sahalie waterfalls hike.
We could not have had a more positive experience, and we both agreed that this is one of the nicest ever places where we have stayed. We had the last of 4 cabins on the river, next to where the more forested part of the property starts. The cozy 1-bedroom cabins sit literally 20 feet from the picturesque McKenzie River. If we’d wanted, we could have gotten fishing licenses and pulled fish straight from the river to the provided charcoal grill on the back porch. That will definitely be on the list for next time. From night one, we had everything we needed and never had to contact staff for anything. Moreover, we were never even approached by staff; we were left alone in what felt like our own private riverside mountain retreat. The cabins have a small fireplace (with plenty of wood provided at a nearby shed) and no TV, which was a pleasant lack of potential distraction. The large windows allow tons of light in and give you an uninterrupted view of the river. There’s a full kitchen with stove, oven, microwave, all the pots and pans you could need, and a coffee pot and grinder, with coffee included. We ate out most nights and just cooked eggs in the mornings, but we could easily have prepared full meals if we’d wanted. My wife’s favorite part of the stay was the heated stone floors in the cabin, which made the nights much more comfortable when the temp dipped into the 20s.
The food nearby is excellent as well. I highly recommend both the Obsidian Grill at the McKenzie General Store (great beer selection) and Takoda’s down the road in Rainbow.
We will be coming back, and probably bringing friends and siblings.
Loloma Lodge was a wonderful home base for our exploration of central Oregon, and we want to extend our genuine thanks to the owners and staff for giving us a great vacation. Cheers.

Loloma Lodge is a very special place! We stayed in the Family Cabin for a long weekend of rest and play. The cabin was so cozy and perfectly stocked with all we needed. The loft space was great for kids, while downstairs room quiet for parents. The porch rockers early in the morning or late afternoon were dreamy and relaxing. The fireplace stocked with kindling, wood, and paper made the colder nights and one raining night, dreamy. We walked to the river, strolled the gardens, took in the woods around us, as well as visited Sahalie Falls and Belknap Springs. I fear sharing all the praise as I want their to be open weekends and bookings. :) and this special quiet place needs folks with intention and care to visit and funds to keep up its history.

We stayed at Loloma Lodge in the Family Cabin during the 2020 NYE Holiday Break with two of our friends. The cabin was very welcoming, super cozy/cute and had all of the amenities that we could have needed. Communication from the Lodge staff was clear, covering everything from amenities of the Lodge & property, nearby hikes and activities, and information on the continued recovery from the devastating fires in the McKenzie River Valley. The property is a beautiful sanctuary that is artfully maintained and thoughtfully preserved to the finest detail, and for the first time in 2020, I felt myself truly relax during our stay. I highly recommend this location and my only regret is that we could not stay longer. Three nights was just too short!

We stayed in the main lodge on the bottom floor. It was typical November Oregon weather. Lots and lots of rain. We brought all of our food and drink and were so impressed with a kitchen that is well outfitted and easy to work in. We had lots of firewood and spent our two evenings spending time with other enjoying the beautiful space. We are looking forward to coming back and bringing a few more with us. I highly recommend Loloma Lodge.

A wonderful experience in the fully equipped main lodge. The staff even cut a fresh 15 ft Christmas tree for us to decorate and helped by providing and hanging lights. The cabin had everything for the whole family, including lincoln logs and blocks for the toddlers and coffee beans, hot cocoa, spices, and a beautifully set dinner table. The area around was lovely for walks, and abundant firewood was provided for the 2 fireplaces and the outdoor fire pit. Truly the only thing lacking was a knife sharpener or sharp kitchen knives.

Place is wonderful. Rustic comfortable cabins right on the river. Lots of nice little touches like a comfy bathrobe and coffee supplied. (One little oddity no toaster or anyway I couldn't find it.) I came with my pooch and really appreciated how dog friendly it was! Dog blanket and waste bags provided. Dogs can be off leash if behaving. Although lodge is on the main road the cabins are far enough away from the road so you are really in the woods. Good privacy between you and other cabins. The river isn't swimmable in this area - steep banks, fast current, and big rocks but there is one place on the property where you can walk in and there is a little eddy so while you can't swim you can safely take a dip. Great location for exploring all the many outdoor adventures to be had in the area. Absolutely loved it and will definitely be going back.

We love this place! It is our favorite getaway when we want to decompress in a beautiful, relaxing setting. The cabins on the river are perfectly situated to allow you to listen to, and watch the river, build a fire and relax in the beautiful setting. We love the radiant heated floors, large windows, and everything about this place. Can’t wait to go back!

The location and view are what make this place so great. You can't get any better than being right on the river.
The cabins and furnishings themselves are a bit aged but for us it was not a problem. We weren't inside very often and in my opinion, the location far outweighs the need for fancy furniture etc. Kitchen was fully stocked, bed was comfortable.
Only complaint was no A/C but we happened to be there at record breaking temperatures. We left the doors open at night which we felt safe to do.
Overall a great experience. Will definitely return. Owners were very communicable and friendly.

I loved my stay at Loloma Lodge and will be back. It was a terrific opportunity to unplug and unwind at the river's edge. The cabin was immaculent and the kitchen is very well equipped. We made a fire each night and appreciated the very comfortable beds and extras such as journals, flashlights and kindling.

We stayed in the family cabin. It was super clean, historic and the kitchen had everything we needed. It was perfect for the four of us. The beds were very comfortable. Loved the area since our family goes back a few generations around there (My grandmother was born in Walterville in 1900). The only thing I could add was that it was pricey, but we felt the historic nature of the property justified the expense. Also, we could not get the wifi to work, but that helped out getaway feel more intimate.
