The Cedarwood is our home away from home, surrounded by tall trees on the gorgeous McKenzie River. McKenzie Bridge is located minutes away from the Tokatee Golf Course, Belknap Hot Springs, the 30-mile McKenzie River Trail, High County Expeditions river rafting, and other attractions too numerous to mention. The cabins are rustic, well-maintained, and well-appointed with full kitchens and stone wood-burning fireplaces. Michael and Carolyn Giorgio are gracious and attentive hosts. The firewood is always stocked, and there are always fresh wildflowers on the table when we arrive.

The Cedarwood is such a wonderfully quiet and relaxing getaway we have been spending both of our birthdays there for many years.

We were initially booked at a different resort some distance away, but when we got there it was simply too bare bones for us. Luckily for us, Cedarwood Lodge had a vacancy, and we were so pleased with our cabin that we will likely come back here again.

Cedarwood has a small group of cabins, all fairly close to the rushing McKenzie River. The cabins fit my ideal picture of what a cabin in the forest should be like: They have character that comes with age (they were originally constructed in the 1920s, with wonderful stone fireplaces), but very well maintained and "modern" in the sense of having a clean, private bathroom with shower, a kitchenette, a good bed, and the like. Very tidy and neat. The interiors are wood paneled, and the furnishings and decor fit right in with what you'd expect in a charming cabin. Nothing really high end here -- just modest and very pleasant. Perfect for what we were looking for.

The cabins are surrounded by towering evergreen trees, which along with the natural air conditioning afforded by the cold McKenzie River, keep the cabins reasonably cool, even during a heat wave like the one that occurred during our stay. Some of the cabins have nice decks with chairs very close to the river bank, and there are chairs on the lawn near the river if your cabin isn't one with a deck close to the water.

The owners are very pleasant and helpful. The prices are really reasonable -- it's a great value for as nice a place as this is. Hiking along the McKenzie River with its spectacular waterfalls really made our stay something to remember.

It's only because of my deep fondness for the Giorgio's that I'm writing this review, because my less-than-proud self-interested side wants to keep as many people as possible unaware of this blissful, nirvana-like establishment and their over-the-top wonderful hosts/owners. So read this review, believe everything I'm writing, but don't go the first week in July, okay?

In all seriousness, I don't often take the time to write reviews, with the exception being really, really unpleasant experiences or experiences like we have - every single time - at Cedarwood Lodge. Spotless, quiet (mostly - we were next to a roudy family this most recent time, but it wasn't too bad - just a lot of traffic at times across our "porch" area), painfully beautiful everywhere you look, relaxing, calming, tranquil, one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in, a HUGE supply of (free) firewood to burn every night in the gorgeous and huge fireplace, a kitchen that's as fully equipped as my own, and as I mention above, two of the nicest human beings you'll ever meet in Cedarwood's owners. They *really care* about you having a good time and fixing any issue that comes up. I've never felt so cared about and looked after by someone I had a professional relationship with!

Cedarwood Lodge is perfect. That's all there is to it. We left a bit later in the summer this year compared to other years (mid July) and were mildly worried about the heat. Again - PERFECT! It got hot, yes, but the cross breezes in the beautiful cabins, combined with the proximity to the gorgeous McKenzie River made the cabin a steady and comfortable temperature. The two room fans provided for us were more than adequate and not even needed most of the time. And although the internet is slow at times, it's free and dependable (it never goes out or anything). But even that turns in to a positive because no person in her or his right mind should be doing work (as I was....) when they're at Cedarwood Lodge!

Such beautiful, beautiful grounds; generous and thoughtful "hosts" (can't really call them owners, it's not personal enough for all that they provide); breathtaking river and all the sights, smells, and sounds it provides; completely spotless (and really, really comfortable) accommodations; and reasonable prices. Perfection. I look forward to it every year (and come home depressed afterward, ever year!). Heaven on earth. That's all there is to it - heaven on earth (but don't take our spot in July, okay?)

Thank you for the great review! We have corrected the problem by posting 'private' signs on both sides of the cabin. No more unnecessary intrusions on your privacy. Thanks again!

Our family has been visiting the McKenzie Bridge area for nearly half a century. We were lucky enough to drive on to the Cedarwood Lodge grounds one day in 1996 and we have made it our second home. Every cabin has its unique personality and we have stayed in every one of them over the years.

Mike and Carolyn are fastidious in their maintenance of these properties and they have a genuine appreciation for every guest. If you are looking for a private cabin amidst lush greenery, with the McKenzie River flowing right past, this is THE place.

July 2013 - The whole experience started for us as we made reservations by email - the correspondence was so nice! The reservation process is a little old fashioned, done by check. No credit cards. Still, we anticipated our anniversary celebration so much more, because somehow this matched the promised rustic setting.

There is no smoking anywhere - yay!

The cottage is just perfect - quiet, and from a past time, a slower pace with the river rushing by, gifting a rejuvenating calm. It is picturesque, the grounds are full of flowers and there is a broad gap between the lowest canopy of flowers and the towering trees admitting lots of filtered light. It is dreamlike. The attention to detail by the owners gives it character and personality. With my great dislike for cookie cutter lodging institutions which dot the world, this spot of Oregon defines the local McKenzie River flavor.

The only drawback for me, is I love a bath tub. The shower was fine. We absolutely love this place

We stayed at the Cedarwood because of Trip Advisor, and all those 5-star ratings were absolutely right. This is one of the nicest "cabins" we've ever stayed in. Great location just a stone's throw from the river, lovely deck to enjoy the view and the sound of the rushing water. Mike and his family must be very handy, because the place is very up-to-date and fresh, and extremely clean! We had a sunny day and sat on the deck in the evening, and a rainy one where we just ate in (completely equipped kitchen) and enjoyed the cozy fire. Just lovely. We played golf at Tokatee down the road, and visited the nearby falls. Beautiful! Thanks Mike and Carolyn!

Cedarwood Lodge is one of those places that you don't want to tell too many people about for fear of spoiling a good thing. This place defines tranquil paradise. We've stayed in three different cabins over the last decade. All of the cabins are impeccably clean, comfortable and provide the right level of amenities with casual country charm. The cabins are outfitted with everything you need to cook, relax and rejuvenate. While there aren't any TVs, they do provide wi-fi if you find it necessary to stay connected, but you likely won't want to because the surroundings are so spectacular! Sitting out on the deck with a good book, wine and the river rushing by literally melts the stress away. While the river is the undeniable star, the beautifully maintained landscape of native plantings creates a serene paradise. Cedarwood's owners, Michael and Carolyn, are wonderful hosts - friendly, helpful and truly care about maintaining the highest standards of their cabins and surroundings. If you are looking for serene beauty on the McKenzie River, this place cannot be beat.  Just don't tell too many of your friends.

Our stay felt like a little piece of Heaven. The location is perfect, with the river right beside the cabins. The owners will instantly become your friends and know exactly how to make your stay perfect. Plan to stay at last a week because you'll fall in love with it and hate to leave.

Beautiful wooded setting. Comfortable bed. Fully equipped kitchen. I was just there for 2 nights. It would be a great place to stay for a week or so. Mckenzie Bridge has ready access to wonderful hiking.

We love the Cascades, but Cedarwood Lodge is one of the main reason's we come year after year to this area. The first and foremost is the fishing is fabulous and some of the best small waters I have fished to date. The second is the quiet relaxation of staying right on the McKenzie River in my own little piece of heaven. The only sound you hear is the river, and maybe the birds flitting around in the morning next to your place. Each unit has its own personality, and I think I may have now stayed in them all. The front grounds off the road are beautiful and well maintained. If you need ANYTHING Michael and Carolyn are there to assist you so that each stay is that much better than the last. I've hesitated to share 'my little secret place' due to fear they will run out of vacancies. But I have now been recommending Cedarwood Lodge to so many friends and family members, they too have made it their 'home away from home"

Hello, I am not the owner, just a frequent visitor. You will have to call Mike or Carolyn regarding that question. I will have to add that this place is absolutely THE best for rest and relaxation, etc. Roaring river and everything.
