Detailed Reviews
The Caddisfly has been our favorite spot in McKenzie Bridge for years and years! The owners Dick and Doris and Caretaker Robert are so very friendly and sincerely good people. The word "comforting" is the overarching term to describe this place. We love to arrive and are sad and depressed when we have to leave. I would say the biggest plus is the fact that you can sit at water level of the McKenzie River and even wade in at the beach area. I don't know of any other area that offers that. The cabins are steps from the river and back decks provide the perfect spot for morning coffee, (that we get from the McKenzie Bridge General Store right next door) afternoon reading and evening happy hour! We are disappointed we won't be able to visit this year due to the COVID-19 but can't wait for 2022!

What a gem of a place. Comfortable and cozy cabins, with outstanding views of the McKenzie River. The owners and hosts went out of their way to make us welcome, even during a power outage!
It’s not the Four Seasons, but that’s not a bad thing. Authentic, charming and peaceful.

I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend getaway in cabin #3. I checked in with Robert and he had my cabin unlocked with the gas fireplace turned on. When you walk in the front door you can see straight through the sliding glass door to the river, the view is amazing.
The cabin was very clean and well stocked with basic utensils, dinnerware and cookware. The bed was comfy if a little soft. The sound of the river lulls you to sleep.
The only thing that was disappointing was the uncomfortable furniture. If you are spending your day hiking or skiing or rafting the furniture doesn't matter much but I came here to relax and do some writing and there was not a comfortable chair to sit in. The sofa was a fold out futon and there was an old wicker chair and a wooden rocking chair. See attached photo. It would be nice if there was at least one comfy chair and perhaps a footstool or two.
I made do and I would definitely return.
Overall my visit was enjoyable and relaxing.

We absolutely needed to get out of town, away from our chaotic jobs. Rented cabin #3 & we didn't want to leave. It's not fancy, it's not plush. It's quiet & calm inside; reminded me so much of my grandparent's cabin in Minnesota. The owners are a lovely couple who couldn't have been nicer. We went on a rainy hike & returned to our little cabin ready to hang out. Small kitchen, but well-appointed. Fireplace is controlled by a remote, and we basically had it on all evening. Perfect for us. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

I spent the weekend in Cabin 2 with 4 of my children and thoroughly enjoyed our visit! We arrived on Friday at 2pm where Robert greeted us (along with his 2 year old malamute) and let us know that he had our cabin heated and the door unlocked and to make ourselves at home! For $100 plus 9% tax you can't beat the price for a cabin that sleeps 7! Downstairs has a bedroom with a queen size bed. The loft has a full size bed and 3 twins. The kitchen and living room has a wall of windows overlooking the deck and the river! The cabin was clean and Robert is literally across the driveway if you need anything during your stay.
The location is perfect with Springfield Oregon 40 minutes to the west and Sisters Oregon 40 minutes to the east. We visited Belknap Hot Springs resort to soak in the pool (7 minutes east), Sahalie and Koosah Falls (about 20 minutes east), Clear Lake and Fish Lake.
We highly recommend Cabin 2!!!

We used to plan a trip to these cabins every year. The McKenzie is my favorite river - it's always beautiful and cold. Fished it since I was a boy. The cabins here are wonderfully laid out and very close to the river. It's close to the Scenic McKenzie hwy., Clear Lake. Perfect in every regard, BUT awhile back we stayed in our favorite cabin only to wake up the next day and find the kitchen crawling with ants! Not the little sugar ants, not carpenter ants but the medium sized ones. They were all through the bedroom, in the carpet, our luggage and clothes. It was awful. We couldn't eat there because ants were all through our food. We got out of there as soon as possible, cutting our stay short. I complained to the owner (lady) and she said "yeah, they've been a problem, but we sprayed just before you got there!" So they knew about them and didn't tell us, didn't take care of the problem, didn't offer us another cabin, a refund or even a discount on a return trip! We had ants crawling all over us and our car all the way home. I'll never go back and encourage anyone I know thinking of staying up the McKenzie to go to Holiday Farms or any of the many other options.

To our knowledge this person did not stay at our facility nor do (nor did) we have an ant problem. We are baffled by this review.

I've been vacationing at the Caddisfly for almost 30 years and absolutely love it! The cabins are cute and comfortable. Dick and Doris the owners are great. The location is lovely right on the Mc Kenzie river surrounded by beautiful forest The grounds are well kept and very pretty. Always a good experience.

We were very excited to head to the Caddisfly Resort for our anniversary this week. I have been there many times before (years ago), and always had a great experience. When we checked into our room we noticed that there was no firewood. My husband went to ask where he could find it, and was told that we had to purchase firewood at the market. The market located next door was out of firewood, so he headed 3 miles down the road to dig through their wet wood, and managed to find enough that we could have 2 evening fires. I have never stayed anywhere that provided a fireplace, but no wood. It would have been nice to know that ahead of time so that we could have brought wood with us. When we crawled into bed that night, we discovered that we were sleeping on 2 old twin beds that were pushed together. There was such a big ridge where they met, that we spent our anniversary getaway sleeping on opposite sides of the bed. When I went to cook breakfast in the morning (we ate at Takodas the night before), I opened the silverware drawer and found 3 long human hairs mixed in with the silverware. Yuck! Having been a professional housekeeper for years, I started to look closer at everything. The container that held the utensils was filthy, as was the inside of every drawer and cabinet and the inside of the microwave. The dish drainer itself was so disgusting that I used a towel to drain the dishes after I washed them. I then went to the bathroom for a closer inspection. The shelves above the toilet were covered in cobwebs, the shower floor was filthy and the shower curtain looked like it hadn't been cleaned in way too long. I decided at that point that I would not be taking a shower during our visit. I have to say the whole thing was very disappointing. I have great memories of staying there, and was looking forward to a cozy, romantic getaway with a crackling fire in the fireplace. We will never go back.

I've stayed at the Caddisfly several times, in all of the cabins, and enjoyed it thoroughly. The cabins themselves are a bit rustic, but cozy, and the beds are comfortable. The resort is a great base for exploring the Willamette National Forest, hiking, fishing, or golfing at Tokatee.
The big draw of all of the cabins is the wall of windows overlooking the river. You fall asleep at night to the sound of the river and it is magical to wake up in the morning and see the McKenzie river rushing by.

We stayed in cabin 2 with our 4 children. Our friends stayed in cabin 1. We were confused where to check in since there are 2 offices. Dick the owner lives next door to cabin 1. Can I say the view from the cabin was serene and the sound of the rushing river just fabulous! The kitchen has all the utensils and equipment you need. Yes, the furniture is dated but with the view outside it more than makes up for it. There is a fire ring outside where we made s'mores but make sure you bring your own wood. In cabin 2 the master bedroom downstairs had a noisy humming heater but I fell asleep just fine. The bed was comfortable. This is the most affordable and best place around. I have done my research, trust me. We were all happy and will come back!
