Good $50 room, for $150.

If you need a place to stay and aren't picky about hygiene or room layout, or the bed, this location makes this an acceptable choice.

If you've stayed in nice hotels for $150, you'll be disappointed.

The bed was very worn out and soft.

The grounds were nice, but the bridge to the secret garden was closed, so we missed one of the best features. My wife was particularly disappointed in that.

The daytime desk clerk seemed as if she wanted to pick a fight with everyone who approached.

The evening desk clerk was pleasant.

The morning breakfast included with the room involved picking what you would like to microwave. That's fine, just set your expectations accordingly.

The pool was warm, appropriate for a hot spring destination. The water was cloudy.

We met some people who have been going here for years, from a city just a couple of hours away. They LOVED everything about Belknap Hot Springs and went there regularly. I think they need to experience some other options so they can make an informed judgment of Belknap! : )

A final comment: there are laminated signs all over telling you to NOT do this and do NOT do that. Heck, the double glass doors leading into the main lobby were so covered with DO NOT signs that you couldn't see in. That is the flavor of the place!

The property was nice and really lovely outside. I stayed in the lodge while visiting with family who were on a roadtrip and they stayed on the campground in their RV. The grassy area in front of the campsites was great for kids to play and while it was busy, it always felt quiet and peaceful.

My room was massive, much bigger than was needed for just me and would be good for a small family or a couple staying a longer period who might like the living and kitchen areas. It was comfortable and clean. It was quite hot outside, and I do not think their AC is equipped to keep up. I asked about it the second day since the thermostats are locked up. The employee I talked to provided a fan which made the room much more comfortable.

My problems arose on my last night. I was settled in my room for the night reading when a bat appeared in my bedroom from out of the little closet nook. No windows were open in the suite, so I have no idea how it got it given my door was closed and housekeeping hadn’t been in during my stay. At first I figured I would just coax it out into the hall, close the bedroom door, and remain there until morning when I was checking out- we could peacefully coexist for the night. Then a second bat flew out of the closet nook!

I had seen that there was a call button for the on-call site host. So I ran out of the room and tried that while the bat continued to go crazy flying around the bedroom. I tried that call button for thirty minutes with no answer. I went in and looked around the lobby for what to do. There was a phone on the desk with a note on how to call the host. It rang and rang with no luck. Then I came across another phone and little desk with a list of employees to call in an emergency if the host was not reachable. I called the first number and that person was not happy to be woken at 11 pm. He still came out but lectured me that a bat in my room was not an emergency.

I feel like it’s import to note that I recognize I was in the forest and bats exist. But, I was in a hotel-type building and expected a reasonable division from wildlife. I am aware that bats carry rabies and even potential exposure requires a rabies test and the vaccination series. I was unsure where the bats had come from, where they went in the room, and if there would be more.

The employee who came out, checked the room quickly, didn’t find them, but showed me how to remove the window screens to allow them out. Then he went back home.

After some time thinking about what to do, I opted to leave and drive to my family’s RV for the night that was already full. I returned in the morning and packed to check out.

A gal was at the front desk so I approached to leave the key and explain that they should check the room for the bats and for access points. She rudely shrugged me off and said bats were normal.

The experience ruined the stay for me. Not because of the bats appearing, but because my concern over sleeping in a room with bats was made to be an inconvenience to the employees I encountered.

We stayed in the RV park. They told us ( our friends came with their RV too) we have 39 ft space and a 40 ft space. Neither were correct. We have a 32 ft trailer and a 29ft our friends have. Both spots fit ONLY the trailer tightly. We had to Park our vehicles down below. The grounds were beautiful flowers, but the bathrooms were the worst I’ve ever been and they were disgusting. Water leaked everywhere and the showers were not maintained nor were the toilet or sink. The hot springs could use a makeover because it looks like you’re getting into pond water in the upper pool. All the RV sites field crammed together. No privacy at all. Like I said, it has beautiful grounds, but we won’t stay here again. And they charge $15 per day per person extra if you have more than two people. Their Wi-Fi only works in the lodge which is at the bottom if you’re staying in an RV or a cabin. Not sure why they don’t invest in better Wi-Fi for their customers. This was our second time staying here and probably our last.

Room Tip: The Hot Springs is been very crowded with kids playing in a pool like setting. Not relaxing at all.

I read some of the reviews after I booked and was a little hesitant about how my experience would be. I was pleasantly surprised I guess? No issues with front desk staff they were nothing but polite, helpful, cheerful.

I stayed in lodge room 1. I found the room to be clean and satisfactory. Yes, I saw a couple cobwebs and a dead bug. The area is pretty remote so not shocking to me. The decor is dated and the volume on the dvd only tv was not great. But who cares about that when you have the beautiful trees and the raging River and hot soothing pool at your disposal. It was nice the room wasn’t carpeted with nasty carpet just plain laminate floor. I had my dog with me and I’d suggest bringing an extra towel for your doggie because it’s rainy and wet and you cannot bathe your dog in the room. There was a decent size fridge and a microwave available so definitely bring your meals there is nothing else around.

My only minor complaint would be that the pool is heavily chlorinated…so there’s not really that
sulphur-y hot springs smell and feel that I personally love…maybe I’m alone on that haha. Just feels like a hot swimming pool and the chlorine odor is hard to get off and makes my skin itch. It’s probably a health department thing…but if not…Belknap Springs consider letting some of that natural hot springs smell in to the pool! Haha.

Would definitely recommend. Beautiful place.

If it wasn’t with my family I would’ve hated it,the room was disgusting and the tub was rusted ,I had to hand pick the rusty crust that would come off the drain in order for my FIVE year old to take a bath, tub was chipped and shower rim was disgusting. the floors were dirty, redhead at the front was rude as hell and unprofessional. Also why say you close at 9 when you guys close that little food area down at 8:45pm? Update your times that’s false advertisement. $500 was not worth it.

Belknap Hot Springs Lodge & Gardens is extraordinarily beautiful and well maintained. There were absolutely NO issues with reservations, each time I called a live person answered with courtesy and kindness. Sharla at the front desk was sweet & professional while showing everyday that she cares intently for her guests.
If you are looking for a corporate glass & brass, on cutting edge of tech with room service and concierge 24/7 you may wish to head back to the city. BECAUSE this is the ultimate retreat to get away from all of the above. This incredible property is covered with acres of healthy forest carved with a labyrinth of trails, manicured gardens & meadows and secret delights you must experience for yourself. Nature is present here. Martha (salt of the earth) is one of the many talented gardeners who care for the gardens with love. Her green thumb is obvious no matter where you look.
The hot springs pools are clean & convenient whether you arrive for a room in the lodge, cabin or RV space overlooking McKenzie river or a camping nook nestled in the woods.
Belknap was established in 1874 with an eye to the future with welcoming, imaginative, planning ongoing in their gardens, forest landscaping as well as lay out of this amazing place.
One comes here to hear the river, bathe in the hot springs, walk the trails, delight in the secret hidden gardens. To be reminded of who we are beyond the the din of the busy outside world...find peace...find calm. FIVE STARS!!

I’ve been coming here for years. It’s outdated but the pool is nice, close to a cold shower and amenities

Staff is consistently unfriendly and rude
Clearly don’t respect the magic of the hot springs

They put CHLORINE in the pools. I assume since Covid Because it wasn’t like that before. It was unbearable. The kids felt sick and our eyes and throat were burning within 10
Mins

I asked and they claimed the health department requires it. Yet Brietenbush and cougar both don’t taint their pools with chemicals.

Putting chlorine in a hot spring that has a continuous flow is almost as appalling as the white settlers stealing the land in the first place.

The Good: Large room overlooking pool and river view. Very nice grounds and bridge over the river with nice trails to walk. Reasonably priced food on site.
The Mediocre: Breakfast from 7:45am to 8:45am had a few decent enough options and was handed out.
The Bad: Room was pretty dated. Free standing AC unit provided in the room on a hot day was pretty much useless.

We rented 4 cabins for 2 days $560 each. Disappointed is an understatement. The kitchens had dishes leftover from a bad yard sale. There wasn’t a working can opener in any of the cabins, we had to use a pocket knife. Deferred maintenance was everywhere. One of our group tripped on a loose deck board. The decks needed repair and paint. The bathrooms were dirty. All the toilets in all the cabins had BLACK water in the morning. I’ve been going to Belknap for almost 50 years and it’s so sad to see the condition it’s in. The neglected condition continued on the grounds, there were piles of maintenance and repair materials laying on the ground with weeds grown up around them everywhere both at the main property and at Camp Vale. The bathrooms at the pool were disgusting. I would never shower in there. The front desk people were not friendly. Save your money and go somewhere else. The management is obviously making money but not doing even minor upkeep. The cabins weren’t worth the cost.

Belknap is a clothing required hot springs. There are two swimming/soaking pools, full service RV sites, beautiful gardens, hiking trails and lots of nature exploring to enjoy.

RV sites depending on what area you choose can be sandwiched in with no privacy or nice large sites with a bit of privacy. Shower rooms were spotless and smelled like a nice disinfectant being used.

Strongly suggest you take the time to enjoy the hiking trail that borders the beautiful river. Great photo opportunities.

Staffers were nice and helpful.
