I have to echo what MarinaRon's review said, if you are at all concerned about airborne Covid, give this one a miss. We'd partly picked this hotel because of the kitchen amenities in rooms which would allow us to take out meals and avoid eating indoors at restaurants. The hotel was new and stylish and looked clean and the staff was friendly as others have mentioned. We were greeted cheerly by a visibly sick and often coughing check-in assistant with a loose mask. Over half of the guests walking into or around the open lobby and breakfast area outside of meal times weren't wearing masks and staff didn't mention it. The cook was not wearing a mask at all and chatted amiably while standing over the grill with guests not wearing masks (who weren't eating). In both the exercise room and a convention room open to the lobby there were more maskless folks, both guests and vendors. This was while the state is under an indoor mask mandate (in fact there was a sign on the hotel door). In general we enjoyed our trip to Bend and found that mask compliance in shops and eateries was quite good with lots of signage and courtesy even on trails. The Element was the one notable exception and with the open lobby/ eating area it's hard to avoid the petri dish on the way to your room. It would have been a great place to stay prior to 2020, but isn't worth it now.

I rarely write reviews as I try to handle my issues directly with the staff at the time. In this case, there was no one to talk to. First, we got two rooms and paid for a specific room with two queen beds. At check in we were told our room had two queen beds and when we get to the room of course only one bed. I call the front desk and the only response was to use the pull out bed if I need two beds. I booked here for two beds not one bed and a pull out. So, we were sold a room that didn't match the description and we're lied to at check in. Not to mention, the only reason I booked here was for the two beds. To make matters worse the room was filthy. There was a thick layer of dust and dirt on most of the furniture and the floor had not been mopped prior as there was dirt all over the bathroom floor and entrance to the room. In addition to the filth the shower leaks into the bathroom and the only way to stop it is sealing the shower with a towel. Thankfully, we are only staying one night. This has been a major disappointment.

8 year platinum member, currently gold, 500+ nights at Marriott. This hotel is new and nice. Still surprisingly dirty. Bathroom I used in lobby 3 mornings had huge hairball clump that remained entire time. The area around where I sat for breakfast had same grime 3 straight days. Breakfast big guy putting out breakfast items rarely wears mask unless very busy. He clearly doesn’t believe they help. I guarantee this guy is unvaccinated! The guy had his face a foot away from fresh fruit and all the other food. Morning desk clerk (only one morning, the others were good) didn’t wear a mask. No problem, it was 5:30 and nobody around, but didn’t put it on when I and others went to the desk with questions or to check out. It is mandatory in Oregon that everyone indoors wear a mask. ALL the guests are wearing them. The National Guard is called out and staffing full hospitals. The first night they put in in room 420. No blackout shade with lights right outside the window. It was so bright, I could read a book. Couldn’t sleep at all. They told me that was the only room with no blackout shade and should have been sold that way. What? Trains run by early and all day right outside the window. LOUD. The good: They moved me to another room and are supposed to be refunding my points for that night. The good, mask wearing morning woman handled my complaint beautifully, but should never have had to. Small, but very efficient layout of rooms. Fridge, microwave. Laundry facilities. Great workout room. Indoor pool and hot tub. Good breakfast. Great, and I mean great, breakfast cook who is so pleasant and remembers everyone’s name. She is a gem. Fantastic free microbrews and wine 5:00-6:30 M-TH. Manager Mr. Rock was very cordial and engaging pouring drinks. I just wish he would make his employees wear masks. This hotel should be a 10. If employees wore their damn masks I might even have overlooked them giving me the worst room in the house. I will never come back!

We stayed on Marriott points that were a great value compared to the usual dollar per point ratio. The suite with kitchen was super clean and comfortable. Fresh prepared breakfast station was a plus. Location was perfect for our needs - a walk to Bend Brewing Co, Spider City Brewing, and Deschutes Public House. Staff was very friendly.

This hotel is typical of the hotel chains in the next category down from their luxury brand parents (Marriott, Westin, Hyatt, etc.) It has small rooms, & fewer luxury touches than the higher priced category. This was my first time in an Element branded hotel. This one had a slight advantage over comparable peers in that it was new, spotlessly clean, & had a very friendly front desk staff. It also served a somewhat better breakfast in that it offered a cooked to order item. Both mornings I was there, only pancakes or French toast were offered as the cooked item. They were tasty & better than the do-it-yourself waffles or cold hard scrambled eggs in a buffet that many hotels in this category offer. I used the Bonvoy app to check-in & get my keyless blue tooth entry. It worked flawlessly & I was able to bypass the short line at check-in. There was plenty of parking, it appeared safe, & was free. I stayed using points & was surprised to receive a statement showing I was charged $0.26 per night for “OR Corp Activity Surcharge.” It seems it cost more than $0.52 to process this fee. As has been pointed out in another review, the Google directions to this hotel are not correct. As I drove down NW Olney Ave. from the East, it told me to turn left on NW Wall St. Fortunately, I could see the hotel on my right before I turned so, crisis averted. I would stay here again on my next trip to Bend.
