Back home from a lovely, relaxing 3 night stay at Pigeon Door, staying in Betsy Blue 🚌
It was one of the most quietest places I've ever stayed at. Very doggy friendly with a large enclosed garden, with another gate leading onto your own 3/4 acre private enclosed paddock. Doggies loved it. Would also be ideal for families with young children as lots of secure space for them! Bedding and towels included. Heating, hot tub, garden furniture, BBQ, and firepit area. Our bus had a washer room next to it, which had washing machine, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, mirror, and a bathroom.

20 minutes from Shrewsbury Town centre and the National Trust Carding Mill Valley, which is beautiful. Award winning Indian nearby that delivers directly to your bus, which tasted amazing, and a cupcake/brownie shop that Harrison said is the best cake shop he's ever been in! Spent most of the weekend doing absolutely nothing, surrounded by the countryside, no noise pollution, book in one hand, glass of wine in the other relaxing.
Highly recommend and would return!

Myself, wife and our 2 fur babies arrived on the 29th Dec 2023 for our 3 night stay in Betsy for the New Year. There was a enclosed garden where the hotub is and then of this garden where Betsy is you have another large area where you can sit and have a fire pit or just let the dogs run free.
Inside the bus was welcoming but basic, it had a full cooker, toaster and kettle, would of been good if a microwave was also in there but you cant have everything.
We had an issue with the TV which Andrew came and fixed straight away. There was ample heating to keep you nice and toasty. The hotub was lovely it had all the lighting in for a late night dip, and the changing room / shower room had plenty of space and once the heater had kicked it was nice and warm.
There was wear and tear on the bus but this is a 1980s bus so what can you expect.
The only thing that would of made our stay better would of been the area outside the bus to have artificial grass so if you do have pets and it raining they arent all muddy.
All in all we really enjoyed our stay on the quirky Betsy and hope to return (in better weather) Thank you :)

We stayed in Billie for 2 nights in July and it was just glorious! Two adults, 2 teens and a child (and a dog!).
We loved that there was a gate installed with no dogs allowed upstairs on the beds, great idea and a cute little wooden gate.
The oven and cooker were immaculate, as was the whole kitchen.
There was a fridge but no freezer compartment (which was totally fine, just worth noting if you buy ice-cream for dessert!).
Communication was fabulous...you receive a digital pack beforehand which explains everything. Phone numbers for the hosts are in the pack and also on the bus. Any texts sent received a prompt and lovely reply.
On Billie there was a wet room with shower, basin and toilet.
The kids (even the big ones!) (and adults!) enjoyed a seat in the driver's seat. Brilliant fun.
The doors open properly like bus doors too!!
Bedding was comfortable and immaculately clean. Heaters in the rooms (that we didn't need in July but good in other weather). Fresh white towels.
Just lovely.
We had the hot tub too and a large enclosed space for the dog.
Views are stunning and so peaceful.
We accidentally left an item behind and within the space of a short phonecall we had arranged postage of it; our hosts were so gracious and kind about it.
We couldn't recommend it more for a family break and hope to return!

As you can see I do not review regularly. Only when something falls outside the box.
All websites can give a ‘slight’ false hope, that is a given but I feel in this instance it was let down by factual.
Stayed in Beetie, tired accomodation, appears it hasn’t received basic maintenance in many years (cracked flooring in shower and paint peeling off ceiling to name just couple).
Clean prior to us arriving is questionable at best.

We were supposed to stay 3 nights we left after 1, its over £200 a night so for us to leave after 1 night says it all! But heres the facts.....

Curtains dont close in bedrooms, large gaps around edges, white colour, dont enable good nights sleep.
Condensation beyond contempt.
Damp linen.
Dirty windows and bathroom.
No bath mat provided.
Wet floors on arrival.
Unable to secure exit door.
Unhygienic food receptacles.
Unsafe contaminated waste shower silage, effectively the shower water did not run off, so your standing in drain water when showering, took 15 mins for water to drain off after 5 min shower.
Uncomfortable seating.
Welcome pack only provided the morning of your stay stating you need to bring tub towels/washing up liquid etc.

Yes hosts will say we didnt ask for things to be rectified while there but these couldnt have been without changing the bus completely so calling them for a "chat" would have been a mute point!

Tips:
Take your own washing up liquid because they want you to wash up but dont provide liquid.
Don’t expect any welcome items.
Take tub towels even though it states towels are provided in the original booking info.
No salt, pepper, foil, kitchen roll, cling film infact
nothing to make your stay easier is provided.
Take blankets and jumpers its cold.
Dont expect any response from hosts if there is an issue after youve left.

It's our second time here. We last visited about seven years ago and so were interested to see what ,if anything, had changed and how it had been developed as I think it was all pretty new when we first went. Firstly, the location. It's sublime especially if you have dogs. To sit by the firepit and toast marshmallows under the night sky is just heavenly..

However, I need to make a few hopefully constructive comments, because we feel they are important to people coming after us. We get it, it's a bus and therefore a glamping type experience, but there are things lacking that are really important and turn a slightly disappointing stay into a good one. There is no salt and pepper, no sugar, no oil to maybe cook the bacon in (breakfast package is delish, the very nicest bacon and sausages btw) A few tea bags after a long journey would be nice as would a small bottle of milk. Just a small basket with these absolute essentials in would be so helpful. And should be provided imo. The non stick frying pan was on it's last legs, and no surprise, the cutlery drawer needed a wooden spoon. I don't like using these sort of pans when they are so damaged. The cutlery was pretty atrocious and could easily be renewed yearly from Tesco for about 20 quid.

Ok, it's September, we were expecting the bus to get cold at night, but the duvet was super thin and there was no throw that we could find so we slept in our dressing gowns and socks. Again, a nice throw would have made a huge difference. I won't mention the shower - and the condition of it - as others have, because it was HOT! And you needed hot.

The field, whilst gorgeous, was long, and not really easy for small dogs to walk through. We felt even a mown pathway would have been so so helpful. Also the brambles from the hedge had grown at least 6-8 foot into the paddock and made it tricky to avoid tripping over them. It looked just a little sad with the overgrown grass.

The other comment I would make is as you approach the buses looks rather neglected and sad. It needs an injection of love into it. Have to say though communication was great and I wish them well. Sadly we probably won't be back unless there are some changes, it's a big chunk of money for the value you get. Feel sad, because it really suits us so well.

Stayed her for 2 nights and we were all looking forward to it from the pictures on the website. Now at £650 I was expecting a nice stay. We use Air BnB a lot and have stayed at some stunning places for cheaper than this. That being said I think I’ll be sticking to Air BnB.

The photos online are old! The bus is very shabby, not had any maintenance in a long time, faded paint, yellowing paint, edging hanging of cushions in the living area.

Everywhere needs to have time and money spent on it to make it look nice again.

Few things to know before going, you need to take washing up liquid, sponge etc and well as your toiletries. Take a tin opener as one was not provided. A washing machine is provided but no way of drying anything. With 3 kids and a hot tub we had a lot of wet towels and absolutely no way to dry any of them.

Shower broke first night and the diesel heater in the bus didn’t work either. Both were fixed the next day but when we were only staying two nights it wasn’t great.

Wouldn’t come again and would feel others to avoid, not worth what we payed by a very very long shot

Thankyou for taking the time to share your review, I am sorry you feel disappointed. You were booked in for 3 nights not two nights, when we saw you Friday evening you appeared very happy and through the messages we exchanged on the Saturday. . We attended half an hour after you reported the shower had stopped working, it had worked earlier in your stay. By 8am a new one had been purchased and we fitted it at your requested time of 11am. At that time you mentioned the heater had stopped working and that was also replaced immediately. We obviously regret this happening but we did our absolute best to address them as quickly as possible. The welcome app we sent you in advance advises you what to bring and what we provide, tea towel, cloth and sponge are provided and there is a tin opener. I’m sorry if you missed the information. I would have been very happy to help you in anyway if I was aware of any issues during your stay

We loved our visit to Pigeon Door - it is so peaceful and you really connect with nature. Watching the start at night whilst sitting in the hot tub helps you to unwind.

Betsy was really quaint and it was a lovely experience staying in a 40+ year old bus. The kitchen is small but functional with a nice sized oven, grill, kettle and toaster (you don't really need much else whilst you are glamping tbh). The eating area is nice with a long table so you can spread out for picnic teas.

Outside is a BBQ and also the option for a fire pit which adds to the experience.

Upstairs on the bus are 3 bedrooms which are small but functional. Its a really innovative use of space which allows for a family of 5 or so to share the experience and really uses the limited space well.

We were lucky enough to have a visit from a friendly robin which sat on the steering wheel on one morning and it is really relaxing listening to the birds singing at dawn and even hearing some of them on the roof.

Reading some of the other reviews, we acknowledge Pigeon Door might not be for everyone, but when you take it as a unique glamping experience in a 40 year old bus in a field with a hot tub and nature all around you (and some alpacas!), then you may enjoy it as much as we did.

Another positive, for us, was the fenced in field which was a safe place for us to exercise our pup and do a little training too.

Finally, there are a nice choice of local eateries that deliver to the site. There is something quite special about having a valentines day meal delivered to a bus!

The hosts are lovely, very friendly and approachable and made us feel very welcome too.

If this is your thing, then give it a go - we'll certainly be back :)

Such an amazing experience. Total peace and pleasure to be away from it all in a stunning destination and with everything you could possibly need at so thoughtfully packed designed and taken care of. I absolutely loved this wonderful weekend away. Came away restored and recharged! Hosts were delightful, kind, welcoming and then reading the room- gave us the time and space the glorious environment deserved. This was a wonderful experience. Thank you.

Great fun. Hosts were extremely welcoming and the eggs, bacon, sausages, jam and bread left for us were a lovely touch. Our two boys had great fun in the bus and our eldest, being a bus fanatic, was living out a long held childhood fantasy of sleeping on a bus. Bus was warm and comfortable and we really enjoyed the hot tub and the outdoor fire facilities. Also great for dogs. Our border terrier roamed free and most importantly couldn’t escape. A great two-days. Throughly recommend.

There is no doubt that this bus is situated in a beautiful location with a lovely hot tub and outdoor seating area and a wonderful buttercup meadow for dogs to frolic in.

We stayed in the Beetie bus which is the most uncomfortable and overpriced accommodation I have stayed in. After travelling some distance to get there it would have been nice to have had some welcome pack such as a pint of milk but apparently covid presents that (it didn't in October when we stayed down the road) . At £155.00 a night I don't think it would have broke the bank.

The bus is shabby on the inside and the outside. The indoor seating is the width of a bus seat, you can neither sit comfortable or lie down, it's more like a perching stool. My bedroom was damp because the window leaked and let the rain in and there was a dehumidifier in there to dry it out. The bedroom has a bed which spans the whole width of the room so you have to climb up the bed to get into it. There is nowhere to put your clothes - there are 2 coat hooks and that's it.The bus door has a half inch gap around the outside which let the wind and rain in - it was very cold. There were only two of us but the bus felt cramped and uninviting, it was certainly not glamorous camping, we couldn't wait to leave.

Thankyou for your comments and I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay, I must admit I am surprised as when we spoke after your arrival you said Billie ( which was the bus you stayed in) was lovely and you were very happy. You also told my son that you were happy with everything later that evening. My son and I both explained the heating to you on separate occasions and I’m sorry you still couldn’t operate it effectively. We would have happily helped further if you’d asked, the instructions were also on the virtual app we sent to you. On the app is also instructions how to shut the doors properly from the inside to close the gap and make sure the wind can not enter the bus through the sides of the door. The indoor seats are a width of a bus seat as they are bus seats, they have been reupholstered and additional padding added for comfort. I am sorry the window leaked while you were staying, the weather that weekend was horrendous. We normally leave a dehumidifier in each bus for air quality, not because it’s damp. We have invested in our buses through lockdown and received many wonderful reviews and returning guests since we reopened. We did used to provide milk etc but we received feedback from guests saying they would not use it because of Covid so we didn’t want to add to the waste of food. We will be reviewing this as the situation eases, it’s about safety not about the cost. We regularly host 6 people in Billie so am disappointed you found it cramped with two adults. Again I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay and I’m also sorry we weren’t made aware so couldn’t address your concerns while you were here.
