The Ship Inn in Stanley was amazing. The location, the accommodation and attention to detail all were five star. We were in Cape Grim which had a lovely little balcony out the front. The continental breakfast was also outstanding and we appreciated the daily delivery of fresh bread (usually still warm). We also appreciated recommendations for dining options. We ate at the Stanley Hotel Bistro and also Hursey’s seafood - both excellent quality.

I loved this place. The Bay View room is gorgeous, check-in was super easy, the breakfast was fabulously simple - quality muesli, home-stewed apples, home or locally made yoghurt, fresh sourdough loaf to toast, wrapped in Ship Inn wrapping paper was a nice touch. My only suggested improvement would be to provide classier teas and coffee. I would recommend a visit anytime including in winter, cosy up on one of the very comfy chairs, read a book while watching the water, weather and quirkiness of Stanley. It's worth the drive but stay two to three nights, not one like we did. There's beaches to explore, the Nut to climb, books to read, history abounds in Stanley.

Thank you so much for your lovely review! We are just in the process of re-vamping our breakfast offering so we’re glad to hear you like it. Rhubarb compote is also going to be available and we are reviewing teas and coffees now! We look forward to hosting you for longer one day. Warm wishes and happy travels! Kerry and Alastair

This place was immaculate and impeccably thoughtful in its inviting presentation. Every single aspect of our stay had been anticipated and catered for.

The rooms and the common areas are filled with a smorgasbord of visual delights. Everywhere you turn there are delightful vignettes created to enhance your awe at the history and ambiance of this delightful inn.

Our room, Cape Grim, was equipped with absolutely everything we needed. The lush linens enhanced the aesthetic and upped the luxe. The bed was glorious. The bathroom had all the touches that make a stay special. We were in heaven. The heating was set to invite us in on arrival.

Our kitchenette came with a delicious breakfast of fresh sourdough, jams, honey and butter. Then freshly made compote of rhubarb and apple with hearty granola and yoghurt. Everything we needed had been thought of. Fresh milk was provided for our coffee and we had juice as well.

There is also a great shared kitchen in the common area beside the waterfall, making this place an excellent choice for multiple couples to rendezvous if you are doing a group road trip. (Future plan hatching)…The cozy lounge area in the old Billiards room is a perfectly luxurious spot to share a drink and soak in the surrounds. Little delights await your eyes at every turn here. The styling is just spot on.

The historical worth of this old building has been valued and the integrity of the restoration is commendable. Each room has a story to share. We loved the inn and this quaint village enormously. Ship Inn Stanley, we will be back, we are already searching for the excuse.

My wife and I spent two nights at the Ship Inn inStanley and cannot recommend it more highly. The heritage building which is superbly located offered tranquil views of the sea. It’s location makes it within close walking distance to the many shops and restaurants in what is a pleasant village environment. One feels that you have taken a step back in time.Walking around the immediate precinct was a great experience with so many things to do like watching the penguins come to the shore at dusk and, for the energetic, a walk around the ‘Nut’ We stayed in the Bayview suite which was beautifully decorated giving you a feel for the way people lived in the past. The large suite was thoughtfully appointed for resting and relaxing with a table on which to write and partake of meals. We found the service excellent. It’s location also allowed me to contribute to my travel visual diary.....an extra bonus. We loved it .

Well, it just doesn’t get any better than this! Touring our own state has revealed a raft of gorgeous places and experiences but The Stanley Inn has been a standout. Make no mistake this is a five-star establishment. The attention to detail is quite frankly astonishing. From crisp French linen on the bed to homemade bread and compotes and muesli for breakfast, thick fluffy white bath towels, classy soaps, and cosy blankets galore. The room we had (Bayside) tells the seafarer's story with original artwork on the walls, so evocative of bygone days. Right down to the postcard of a young couple in the 50’s who frequented the venue when it was a public inn. Then you have access to the guest lounge with its fireplace, abundant velvet seating, and top glassware just begging for a beautiful red wine. Attached is the Indoor/Outdoor kitchen area with its own waterfall and garden. Situated on the main street all the eateries are within walking distance and if you indulge just that bit too much I would recommend making use of the Free Gym, Bikes, or Yoga studio. Who would want to leave?

We stayed three nights in the Van Diemen's apartment and it was superb. The living space is beautiful with four windows all with great views, especially the front window where I spent hours just watching the moody weather roll in and out between our walks. The room is so beautifully styled in every detail, with a lovely deep squashy sofa next to the gas fire and the perfect place to enjoy the breakfast at the large table. Every item in the apartment is of excellent quality and the kitchen (and butler's pantry) are so well equipped. We were offered fresh towels each day while our breakfast supplies were replenished, I am sure nothing would be too much trouble. We have already highly recommended this stunning property to many friends and are thrilled to have another luxury place to look forward to returning to. The only thing missing for my husband and I was a bath but we knew that when we booked ... otherwise perfection!

Me and my partner stayed one night in the beautiful Roaring Tom’s apartment, although we truly wish we would have stayed longer! Everything was carefully considered, from the storytelling of the different rooms, to the interior and the homemade breakfast basket. The location is terrific and we had a lovely scenic bike ride with bikes borrowed from the hotel. Don’t forget to check out the guest lounge if you visit! We loved sitting there with a cup of tea after a day of exploring. Can’t wait to be back!

We stayed at the Ship Inn Stanley for three nights in Roaring Tom’s apartment, the largest offering in this exceptional accommodation.

The booking process? Because of covid lockdowns we booked three times. Money paid up front twice and promontory returned in full on short notice cancellation. In an area loaded with so-so Airbnb options, something to seriously consider. (Don’t Airbnb).

The renovation meticulous, the interior design and styling breathtaking. We found it hard leave, forcing ourselves away to explore Stanley, thrilled to return and relax.

Perfect for two couples away together, anytime of year. Cooler months with a beautiful lounge, fireplace. Warmer months with two spacious outdoor areas to choose from. We kept imaging ourselves having dinner, (made in that huge well appointed kitchen, if you love to cook) and sitting on that front patio taking in the view.

Laundry and gym were more than adequate, the communal space we didn’t use. It looked lovely! We had more than enough space at Roaring Tom’s.

Book before your dates go, this place is a real find in Stanley.

The Ship inn has managed to blend luxury with olde world charm. The rooms are beautifully decorated and of very generous proportion. The bed linen was sumptuous and so was everything else including the luxurious shower products. They organised a yummy quality breakfast which they made available in the rooms small kitchen. We regret we did not stay at least 2 nights to enjoy the facilities fully. They have a very well appointed gym, a lovely yoga room, bicycles you can use, the loveliest garden you can sit in and enjoy. They also have the sexiest lounge room with a combined group dining area which would be perfect if a few couples were staying in house and wanted to share some time together. The perfect getaway place.

Thank you Kerry and Alastair for the passion of renovation decorating and historical highlights you have bought back to life at the Inn. It has been the most wonderful stay. So much attention to detail including a blanket to sit outside comfy chairs in all locations. We loved sitting in the garden enjoying the birds. Again in the guest lounge it is all ready to enjoy. Wine glasses plates and cutlery for us to enjoy our take away dinner under the beautiful flowing fountain with birds popping down to wash off and sit. A dishwasher hidden away for a no fuss clean up. Appreciated the well laid out gym for yoga. Originally our trip was planned in feb 2020 and we finally made it. Thank you for your passion. We hope to return again and cherished our 3 nights at the Inn.

Good morning HeddaN As glenozexp has indicated the Bentley Suite is situated along side the foyer doors, we do have 6-7 steps to our foyer door, we also have a suite on the side of the building that has two steps only! The majority of our rooms are on the ground floor..have a great day :)
