Detailed Reviews
We asked for a ground floor room with a large bed and our requests were satisfied. Check-in was off-site at the Stanley Hotel but the lady was friendly and helpful and made a very good impression on us. We arrived an hour or two earlier than the stated check-in time but that proved to be no problem as our room was ready for occupancy and we were able to use it immediately.
We travelled to the room and found it to be very clean, the bed comfortable and there was ample parking on site. We found the area to be quiet and had a good nights sleep.
The only disappointment was, like many other accommodation venues now, there was no toaster or microwave in our room which we really would have appreciated.
Otherwise it was all good and highly recommended.

Stayed 2 nights in one of the bay villa apartments. The apartment had a full kitchen which was well equipped, spacious living area, good bathroom, and a bedroom with comfortable bed and nice view across Sawyer Bay. Cleanliness was excellent, the location very quiet. Located across the road from Hursey's if seafood is to your liking, also an easy walk (or short drive in bad weather) to the rest of the town. Parking is free.
Keys are collected from the Stanley Hotel, where you can also make bookings for dinner.
Had previously stayed at this property, in a motel room, several years ago, and was not disappointed in the return visit.
A very pleasant property, good both for a break in Stanley or a base to explore the area.

We had an upstairs queen room. You couldn’t get a better view, delightful! The room was clean and a good size. Some chairs are place near the picture window so you can watch the sea in all its beauty. The bed was awful for us; saggy in the middle. We just didn’t get a good sleep. The shower is over the bath, which can be a bit tricky, a grab rail is provided and it is well placed.
It is advertised as not having cooking facilities, which is true. There is a small bar fridge, a toaster, two small plates, wine classes and mugs. Tea, coffee and long life milk. If you want to enjoy your morning cereal without going out into the world bring you own bowls and spoons. We ate ate the pub and tried the fish from the place near the Village; both excellent.

We booked a Standard Triple Studio $183 p/night for 2 people (for 4 nights). You check in and pick key up from the Stanley Hotel & Bistro (3mins drive away from the accommodation). On picking up the key we were pleasantly told that “we have upgraded you to give you more room”. We were thankful thinking this was an “upgrade” to our original booked room.
The Anchorage 2 is attached and built onto the side of an existing brick house. It has a side view of the bay from the lounge. It reminded us of visiting grandmas house and sleeping over the school holidays. The furniture was outdated and didn’t match, cutlery and crockery looked like it was picked up at various garage sales over time.
The lounge (side view of the bay) was three oldish armchairs that were a bit musty and uncomfortable. The TV was large and easy to use. The lounge area is small and would struggle to seat 4 people (comfortably).
The kitchen was small but functional. It’s a proper full kitchen set up.
The bathroom was large and clean, toiletries supplied. The accommodation had a small laundry with modern washing machine, dryer, ironing board, iron, dust pan etc.
The main bedroom (view of the bay) was a queen bed, comfortable and firm with electric blanket, flat screen TV, armchair, side tables, side lamps, view of the bay, mirror, and alarm clock. The second bedroom (view of the road)was more of a “children’s” room. Double bed, side tables, TV, armchairs.
Stanley Village Waterfront Accommodation has a range of accommodations for booking - a self contained timber cabin (“The Retreat”) accommodation attached to the side of a house (sleeps 4 “Anchorage 2”) and 8 apartments in a block formation facing the bay (4 on first level and 4 ground level).
Overall - we made our stay work for us - the hotchpotch, the miss match might not suit others. It’s not boutique accommodation and not worth $183 p/night. We never got a chance to physically see what we had originally booked (except when booking it online) and then compare it to the “upgraded” accommodation. It wasn’t just an overnight stay where it didn’t matter but it was for 4 nights.

The apartment buildings are great, they were generally clean and tidy, but a little more dusting on the window ledges would help first impressions. We had an excellent view across the water, from the sea facing windows. We had No. 8 , which was an upstairs ( again ) suite. The bed was comfortable, the A/C heater worked well as did the TV. However, this is listed as a self catering unit, but the necessities for self catering were strangely missing. We had 2 knives, 2 forks, 1 cheese knife, 2 small bread plates, ( no breakfast bowls ).a corkscrew, a bottle stopper and 2 coffee mugs. No spoons. That's it. No microwave, no toaster, no oven or cooktop. The fridge was in the left side of the wardrobe. I think to call this a self catering unit is really stretching the term "self catering " to its absolute limit. We ended up buying cheap cutlery at the IGA along with some plastic plates.
The bathroom was spotless and large, but it needed to be because it had a large spa bath with overhead shower. I would rather have had cooking facilities other than a spa. There are laundry facilities available on the premises. We ate dinner every night at The Stanley Hotel, which rather defeated the object of self catering.

The location of the hotel is perfect, you can walk to the town center but if you need to go to reception best take your car , especially at night as there are no street lights. Our room was upstairs , the room is dated , the bed was comfortable and the added bonus was the electric blanket. Carpark on site . It was lovely to sit at the bay window with a hot drink and Matilda at reception was very helpful when we left something behind and had to return to collect it.

The bed was so hard we both woke up with neck and back ache. Interior very dated. Shower in bath awkward and narrow. Dated decor of exposed brick with beige and brown everything. Quite a distance from town centre too. Fish place across road starts reversing forklifts at 630. At $175 a night you could find better.

Well, we don't know if it was just bad timing or what we dreamed of.
Not Boutique at all, the king bed room was pretty tight, there is no telling that your experience starts with whinging staff who are very short on being happy, when you pick up keys at the hotel if they don't want to be friendly well find another job.
Obviously the hotel has a hand in glove deal, but you can't get in, booked out and the staff let you know that.
The seafood place was booked out but you could eat in as long as you are out by 7pm, yeah right.
You cannot cook as their is no BBQ, there are no coffee machines with pods and not even a microwave to heat a pie, bloody disaster.
The room above well, you can hear the toilet going and literally hear them piss, bloody disgrace
This looks nothing like on the site at all, we travelled to Smithton and found a great place called Tall Timbers, by joe we wish we had seen this earlier, would not recommend the tired out old supposed Waterfront Boutique accommodation, look around first

Older style accommodation right on the water edge. Stocked well with fridge and sundry items. Air conditioning a little slow to start but adequate. Beautiful hot showers with spa bath. Bed was reasonably comfortable.Room is not sound proof, so you can hear toilet flushing and tap being turned on. No restaurant on site, but their own restaurant is available up the street about 5 mins drive. Had dinner at the seafood opposite the hotel. That was a mistake. Had we read other reviews would have given them a miss. Waste of money.

We wished we stayed for more than one night, Stanley is a great spot.
Stanley Village Waterfront Accomodation is certainly waterfront, the waves lapping the shore right outside sent us straight to sleep in the very comfortable bed. We could even hear penguins.
We weren’t sure about it as the photos online make the rooms look a bit dated and dark, and yes they could do with an update but it was still an excellent spot.
