Was very much looking forward to staying at "On The Terrace', it was to be one of the highlights and my chance to have a bit of a luxurious relax in the middle of my four week trip. Arrived about 3pm and the first thing i saw was a 'For Sale/Sold' sign in the front yard. Feeling apprehensive, I rang the doorbell (after a bit of a search for the 'reception' area), and was greeted by a friendly gentleman that was surprised when I said I was wanting to check in. He said he knew nothing about it, and had to go fetch his wife. She was incredibly unhelpful and antagonistic, showing me that according to her list my booking had been cancelled (and I showed her my booking confirmation from Booking.com from six months earlier), and it felt like she was accusing me of duplicity! She also said that the room was available as it had just had a cancellation, yet did not offer for me to stay there. I was very upset by this time, fearing that I would not find alternate accommodation, as it was between Christmas and New Years. She asked to see my booking again, and said "that isn't even our rate" when I showed her again. I was in tears when I said "I guess I'll have to find somewhere else to stay then", to which she replied "I guess you will". No offer to help me find something or where to look, no sympathy, and no friendliness. Made me feel like a criminal. If she was the new owner and they are continuing the business, avoid, and if she was the outgoing owner, good riddance!

We stayed in The Studio for one night. Fresh, clean , warm and welcoming in the late afternoon sun. Owner was very attentive and helpful. Gave advice about booking a table at Hersey's Seafood 2 doors away.....it was a pity she didn't recommend we go to the pub in town for dinner!

Spent 2 nights in this lovely place: the view from the front window was spectacular! The apartment is well appointed with lots of lovely extra touches. The bed was very comfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean. It's an easy walk to everything Stanley has to offer. The hosts are friendly and helpful. I would recommend On the Terrace to anybody looking for a getaway to Stanley

Could not fault this place. Had originally booked the separate studio apartment but decided to spend a little more and have a full kitchen in one of the units in the main house. The view from our front window was just stunning and it was hard to tear ourselves away every morning to enjoy the delights of the local area! A huge terrace out the front overlooks the harbour and there is comfy seating to enjoy the view from. The unit is spotlessly clean, modern decor, big fluffy towels, plenty of pillows, great shower - not a thing that hadn’t been thought of. Wifi was the best we encountered outside of Hobart! The hosts were very friendly and approachable, stopping for a chat whenever we saw them. There is a seafood restaurant two doors down which also sells excellent takeaway fish and chips and salads. I wold suggest taking your own wine if you visit Stanley, however. The prices at the local pub were quite expensive - a wine I’d bought a few days earlier was $10 a bottle more here. A local told me to go to Smithton, just up the road for supplies! Definitely our favourite accommodation during our 2 week holiday and would recommend without hesitation.

Great location as everything is in walking distance. Stayed in the one bedroom apartment which was immaculately clean and had very modern decor. The host was absolutely lovely and couldn't do enough for us. Would Highly recommend.

Spacious apartment that looks to have been recently renovating. The owner appears to live on site and is very accommodating. Big advantage being only a short, pleasant stroll into town. Listen to the owner when she tells you to make a booking at the pub for dinner!

We thoroughly enjoyed this delightful place. We booked the studio unit; but it was quite large. It was very clean, with a comfortable king size bed and a large bathroom. It is a separate unit from the others in the main house; so it was private and quiet. There were excellent views in several directions: the fishing fleet docks across the street and The Nut is right behind the apartment. It is a short walk to restaurants, shops, and the beautiful restored houses in Stanley's historic district. Robyn was a delight to talk to: charming and informative. The wifi was very good. That is notable, because good wifi is hard to find in Tasmania. We highly recommend this place.

Great sized room, fantastic shower pressure (after a long day of travel), big comfortable bed. Very clean, nicely decorated and wifi. Small (but practical) kitchenette. Walking distance to Main Street. Stayed in rear, standalone 'studio' room. Glimpses of harbour.
