Detailed Reviews
The cottage was a good size for our family of 5 adults. 2 bedrooms and plenty of living space. Check in was very easy and although I never met the managers as we were there only 1 night they were very helpful and friendly over the phone. You can tell they make an extra effort to ensure the cottages are spotlessly clean and include some nice extra touches including some treats and ice blocks. The location is superb right outside the entrance of the national park, with a creek running through the grounds and a nice pub all within walking distance. Ours was a short stay but the park walks, Russell Falls, Sunday afternoon session outdoors at the pub and lovely quiet accommodation made this one of our favourite places in our wild west tassy tour. We are already planning to come back for a longer stay..

If you're visiting Mount Field National Park and Russell Falls, I highly recommend staying a couple of nights in one of the four cottages for the following reasons, particularly if you are driving the circuit around Tasmania:
1) Wildlife. The back deck opens up to a clearing the size of a large rugby field, which leads to the Tyenna River. At dusk, Eagles hunted overhead and our neighbours were so lucky to see the resident Platypus in the river. Later at night, curious Pademelons and Brushtail Possums visited as we relaxed on the deck, which we could also view as they wandered about in the clearing.
2) Location. You are right next to the national park, visitor centre and trail heads to Russell Falls and Three Falls Circuit (short walk across the bridge). Visit Russell Falls before and after the day trippers from Hobart arrive/leave. At night, return to see the Glow Worms on the track leading to the falls.
3) Extremely spacious cottage. The bedroom in Cottage #2 was huge. Our kids slept very well (two nights) on the comfortable pull-out bed in the lounge room. The cottage is so spacious we could turn out the lights in the lounge room as the kids slept, but leave lights on in the dining/kitchen area as I talked to my wife.
4) Your own private washing machine and dryer. Most cabin and caravan parks we visited in Tasmania had a communal laundry. Not this place and we appreciated it very much, I can tell you. So convenient, suitcases filled with clean clothes again!
5) Modern and brand new (or so it seemed) barbecue on the large back deck, which worked effortlessly and could be easily cleaned. Gas bottle and cleaning product were supplied. Small round table and comfortable chairs on this deck to relax as you cook.
6) Other reviewers mentioned no oven in the cottages.... but there is a stove top, which combined with the barbecue provided more than adequately for our family's needs. The kitchen facilities were excellent, including coffee machine and range of refreshments such as cappuccino sachets, herbal tea, chocolates and lollies for the kids. Large dining table to eat and for our kids to write in their journals.
7) Awesome management... friendly, helpful and excellent communicators before and during our stay. Can't recommend these guys more highly.

Russell Falls Holiday Cottages are located in a beautiful spot, on the banks of the Tyenna River, right next door to the Mt Field National Park. We stayed in Cottage 2 for 2 nights. The cottage was spacious and immaculately presented. It was well appointed, with many thoughtful touches such as a coffee machine (with coffee) and we were very comfortable. We would, without hesitation, stay there again and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

After a full day of hiking at Mt. Field National Park we were ready to relax for the evening. Sharon had everything ready for us in the FULLY self-contained cabin (full kitchen, washer/dryer, living room with TV, etc. There are no dining options, so bring your provisions with you. After a quick bite to eat we walked back into the national park (Yes it is only a few meters walk from the park entrance) to hike the trails and watch for glow worms. The fact that we could do this without getting back in the car was lovely. Cabin 1 was right on the water with splendid views to wake up to. Just lovely. If you love nature AND creature comforts, Russell Falls Cottages are where you want to be.

We had a wonderful stay at the Russell Falls Cottages just after the cold weather snap and as a result had a wonderful time especially as the cottage was warm and comfortable and a short walk to the Mount Field National Park and literally a walk to the Falls. It’s a half hour drive up the Lake Dobson dirt road up to the snow. A lovely cottage accommodation but they didn’t have an oven however we managed fine. Thanks Matt

We only stayed for 1 night to allow time to explore the National Park adequately. The cabin was basic but very clean and tidy. All amenities are excellent including washing machine and dryer and all things necessary for cooking meals. The main living area is air conditioned. We had cabin 1 which I would recommend as it had the most privacy and an unobstructed view of the river. There are resident echidnas which are happy to have they're photo taken in close proximity as well as paddymelons and wallabies. We didn't see any platypus but apparently they are in the river. Access to the river is extremely easy and there are many spots to enjoy a swim if your keen. Brian was an amazing host. Access to the National Park entrance is a 100m easy walk

Conveniently located next to the entrance of the Mt Field National Park, we could easily walk to gorgeous Russell Falls, as well as to the Waterfalls Cafe for a very good coffee.
We were delighted with our cottage (#1) which overlooked the Tyenna River and was surrounded by lovely tree ferns and mature trees. The cottage is spacious, clean, very well appointed and has modern decor. At night we could even observe some of the local wildlife around the cottage.
Although the cottages are self-catering, we received a helpful text message from Kala and Tim before arrival with tips on for meal options. Nothing was too much trouble.
We loved it there!

We were v happy with the cottage and the hosts. Easy walking distance to the visitor center and russell falls. At night, we sighted possums and a few other wildlife. There was some complimentary items in the kitchen (vegemite, tomato sauce, sweet soy sauce, soup packets, etc) which came v handy. Overall, was a nice experience.

Please do yourself a favour and stay here. My Husband and I stayed 2 nights and were blown away both by the cottage and the Mt Field national park !
The cottage was extremely well contained with cooking and house hold essentials . Very comfortable and peaceful !
You are only a couple of minutes walk to the visitor centre and the magnificent falls .
Could not rate this place highly enough !
