Stayed here for a two night weekend break. Really impressed driving up to the hotel. Huge old building that’s retained original features including a fully working organ. The lounge and bedroom was furnished to a high standard, the bedroom was a little drafty due to the old windows in the bathroom. The adjacent spa and fitness facilities were top rate. The downside was the service in the restaurant - nearly 2.5 hours from ordering to getting our main course and it wasn’t even busy, we pre booked afternoon tea but it still took 55 minutes to arrive, at breakfast we had to ask three times for our toast and the hot breakfast for each of us arrived so far apart I’d finished mine before my partners even arrived. The drinks we ordered to accompany dinner arrived after dinnner but they wouldn’t let us cancel them. We were staying on an all inclusive package and on checking out the hotel tried to charge us for items that were actually included in the package and it took a long time to get this cleared up.

First hotel stay since COVID-19, the hotel had only recently reopened with limited staff. You can expect a Temp check at check in, wear masks in the common area with plenty of sanitiser stations.

Nutfield Priory is a beautiful Grand house situated on a ridge with great Surrey Downs views. Our room was nice although did overlook the mundane carpark. We visited the health club which was 3 min walk across the carpark. Temp check again and used the pool which was clinical although spa pool was nice but was then told was “closed”.

Had a couple of G&Ts on the new lovely terrace area overlooking the beautiful views of the downs. We had some great food for dinner - Braised Lamb, Chateaubriand followed by lemon tart and raspberry trifle although drinks service was slow throughout. Staff were really friendly throughout. Would recommend for a meal but maybe not worth a special stay as well unless in the area.

Dear Amberleyadrian Thank you for much for taking the time to write a review after your recent visit to Nutfield Priory Hotel & Spa. Like everyone the impact of the COVID guidelines has set us particular challenges and I am sorry that access to the spa pool was restricted because of this. I have shared your lovely comments about the dinner that you enjoyed with my colleagues and I was delighted to read your positive recommendation for future visitors. I look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back to Nutfield in the very near future. Warm regards Michael Michael A McKay FIH GENERAL MANAGER

My sister and I stayed at the hotel for a murder mystery event organised by the Killing Game, which was held in the Fielden suite. Our room was spacious, and when we moved the twin beds apart to have some space between them, the carpet underneath the beds was absolutely spotless with no dust at all (as so often the case under hotel beds). We enjoyed cream tea, I had a swim at the spa, then a tasty dinner. All the staff were very polite and helpful. After breakfast and check out I had another swim at the spa. Everywhere was very clean, all the staff wore masks, the view across the surrounding countryside is wonderful and we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

Just back from a great overnight stay at Nutfield Priory. Booked a package that included dinner, bed and breakfast and two one hour treatments in the Spa. Excellent value for money and I would go back. Food and service in the restaurant was excellent and staff were very friendly and helpful. We were offered the tasting menu but as we didn't like a few of the items on it we were quickly offered the full A la cart option which was really top quality. Only downside is that the Spa is a short walk across the car park from the hotel so unlike some other well known spa hotels in the area you cannot walk back to your room in a robe following your treatment. For us it didn'matter as those other hotels charge £100 for a 50 minute facial so we felt we got excellent value for money as treatment prices are much more reasonable so we were happy. Will visit again.

I was given a voucher for a day spa with an afternoon tea for two including a treatment each. We used this last week and it was a lovely experience. We also booked an additional treatment each & the beauty therapists were fantastic - Tania and Maria. The afternoon tea was delicious and all the staff were very friendly and the cleaning/precautions/PPE due to Covid was impressive - we felt very safe. Thank you so much for a really lovely relaxing day.

This year we have booked to stay again at the Nutfiled Priory again because of the experience last year. We booked a suite for two nights 25th and 26th, when we entered the hotel on Christmas morning around 11am prior to lunch we were blew away by the Christmas Decor and atmosphere created by the hotel. We had a relaxing wait in the great lounge being plied with Champagne and canapies, to the point we had to stop to ensure we could fit in the dinner. We had a special visit from Santa Claus which excited the resident children including our own. We were invited to our festive inspired table at The Clostiers, there we began a 7 course Christmas lunch which was some of the best food we had ever had. The staff went above and beyond for us and all with the Spirit of Christmas about them. After retiring to a festive lit Great Hall with a roaring fire we settled in for a most enjoyable Christmas evening, all families played games and occupied themselves while being attended to by the staff for any requests. Later that evening the Buffet was laid out for any guests to enjoy, the food was fresh and the presentation epic.
We couldn't have asked for a better day, this is the first time we have opted to go to a hotel for Christmas and this year we are repeating the visit. The only thing that would have made the experience 100% would have been if the suites had been festively decorated, a Christmas Tree would have been icing on our Christmas Cake.

Visited for a long weekend after buying a new car and being given a choice of locations to stay as part of the deal. Chose Nutfield Priory as it was a reasonable distance away and so glad we did. The staff were great from arrival till departure. Smiley, friendly and very helpful. We stayed in the Keats room and although the view is not the best (view of the front car park) the room itself was lovely, clean and well appointed. We had dinner in the restaurant on the first evening and the food was presented nicely and was very tasty. The staff in the restaurant worked very hard and were very pleasant. The downside (which is nothing to do with the hotel) was the guests on the table next to us who were loud, boorish and drunk. The hotel is well decorated and very reasonably priced and although I rarely go back to the same place twice I do look forward to visiting more Handpicked hotels. Well done to all a very pleasurable experience.

The Nutfield Priory is a stunning building, conveniently located just off the A25 and near the beautiful Surrey Hills. The interiors are striking, the young staff are universally friendly (if not always efficient) and our room at least was well appointed. The hotel aspires to luxury standards, and most rooms are in excesss of £200/night, but there are too many minor flaws for my liking. It is the detail that makes for the memorable. The extractor, TV, and over sink light in our room either didn't work or worked sporadically. We repeatedly had to ask for toileteries that were missing. The bathroom, for an Executive room, was small. But it was mealtime where the real issues surfaced. I've written a seperate review for the Cloisters restaurant, but similar problems existed at breakfast, where despite repeated requests items either didn't appear or came at the wrong time. There did not seem to be a clear section arrangement for the waiting staff, so you would be asked what you wanted by different waiters and then the request seemed to get lost. In the end we were actually laughing with the other people around us it seemed a complete lottery when you would receive your food. We were served well before the people around us, even though they had ordered much earlier. Overall though, the breakfast was nice and the staff very attentive.
My final niggle was that items I had prepaid for were included on my bill. Good thing I checked!

Took my friend for a special birthday afternoon tea and very special it was too. Beautiful building and outlook, friendly staff and fresh sandwiches all catered for dietary requirements without any hassle. Light and warm scones with jam and lemon curd, mango sorbet, lemon posset, amazing yummy cakes - most of which were taken home -all washed down with a glass of champagne, not forgetting the tea and all for an amazingly reasonable price. Highly recommended!!

Hello my name is Poppy Labrador, I’ve recently stayed with you and I wanted to let all my canine friends know what a great place it is to visit.

I had a lovely comfortable dog bed along with a bottle of mineral water next to my bowl. During my stay I sat out on the terrace and enjoyed afternoon tea with my humans, we also had evening meal in the grand hall and bar. The only place I couldn’t go in was the restaurant and spa, but I understand I can’t go everywhere.

The team of people bringing me big bowls of water were really friendly and I know they chatted to my humans about me. I am 13 years old now and have canine dementia so I get quite upset easily so being able to come on holiday to all the handpicked hotels has been so comforting for me.

I hope lots of other canines will read this and decide to come and stay and enjoy themselves as much as I did. My humans told me we had an amazing view across the Nutfield plain, my paws couldn’t reach the window but I spend plenty of time sniffing round the hotel grounds they were excellent for getting your nose down.

Depending on which terminal and day it would depend. Weekdays into South there’s a train into Redhill £3.80 per person, and a taxi £6.00 to the hotel. Sunday is more problematic the trains run hourly.
