We have just come back from 3 nights Easter stay here in the most terrible weather. We had rain, wind and snow but it failed to dampen our spirits. This place is beautiful, with stunning walks on your doorstep well away from civilisation with the added bonus of no phone signal (pay phone on site) which means a true break from life. The facilities are basic but adequate for what’s needed with hot water to wash your dishes and a hot shower, you can even build your own fire to keep warm. The owners were so helpful and we felt that even though we were isolated they would be there in a flash if we needed help ( including the offer of food if we got snowed in!) If you like a bar, club house and manicured sites then this is not the place for you but if you want somewhere to relax,…
We stayed for two nights at the start of September for a family wedding party which was held at the site. Although it was a wet weekend so therefore muddy, we had a lovely time. Absolutely beautiful bell tent and shepherds hut with log burners. Will definitely return in the summer months. A word of warning there is no phone signal at the site so you will actually need to talk to one another our three teenagers managed to survive the weekend without communicating with the outside world!!
Beautiful setting!! We have been going there for years and love it...... the children play for hours exploring the wooded area, building dens, playing on rope swings and a few splashes in the river! Lovely location for country side walks or a spot of fish out the beaches that are not far away. It run by a lovely family, the facility's are basic but everything you need and are kept clean. We take our tent but they do have a bell tent, camper van and a hut you can rent instead of taking a tent (booking is required)
Such a beautiful location for a campsite. We stayed for 4 nights and really enjoyed ourselves despite the awful British weather! 7 year old was happy playing on the rope swings and splashing in the river with the other children. Dog friendly and allows fires which is a real bonus for us. Only downside was that we did get a few tick bites but that is to be expected at this time of year. Take a tick remover with you!
This campsite is fantastic. The setting is beautiful and very peaceful with the river running through, and there are fantastic walks which you can get straight on with from the site. Facilities are simple but great - toilets, showers, washing up station and shop (open morning and evening - basics only). Each pitch has a fire pit, and logs are available from the shop - very dog friendly site as well. Short drive into Porlock or onwards into Linton and Linmouth (both very nice). For a great evening meal check out the Crown hotel in Exford (20 mins drive) We loved our time here, and can't wait to go back.
