Detailed Reviews
We were a party of eight friends, 4 couples but the B&B would easily suit a couple. Pretty and quiet location. This is an absolutely delightful place to stay. All rooms are accessed by stairs. Spotlessly clean with very welcoming hosts. The 4 rooms are very comfortable , Egyptian cotton sheets and large thick fluffy white towels. Lots of nice touches including a very well stocked tray with hot chocolate, good variety of different strength coffees and teas and shortbread. Fresh milk in a flask. After a hard days walk, the hot tub with views over the lake was perfect for aching muscles and large towelling robes are supplied, don ‘t forget your swimming costume and flip flops. Lovely lounge, lots of sofas with a real log fire . Plenty of maps, and even board games. However it is Alex and Lorraine who make this a very special place to stay, nothing is too much trouble and they never forgot any preference , Alex gave advice on places to visit and also suitable walks for mixed experienced walkers and Lorraine even held back dinner when the men arrived later than planned , from walking. Dinner was perfect, our dietary needs and preferences were well catered for, including a Coeliac and salmon allergy. The food was beautifully cooked, presented exquisitely, and tasted absolutely delicious. Good selection of wine and drinks. Dinner was a set 2 course dinner. Afterwards Alex served coffee and tea with mints in the lounge. Breakfast selection was incredible, huge , huge choice, hot and cold included local produce and homemade preserves. We stayed for 3 days and will come back. Very easy to book on their website, which gives a lot of information.

Dolfannog Fawr is a beautiful home in exquisite surroundings. Lorraine and Alex were the perfect hosts who pay attention to the smallest details. The property is spotlessly clean, our room was immaculate and the hosts have thought of everything a guest might possibly need to make their stay luxurious and ultra-comfortable. The bed, duvet, pillows and linen were pristine and we felt as if we were sleeping on a cloud each night. Even our top of the range bathroom products were heavenly and it will be a challenge going back to our run of the mill choices! The lounge was a stunning room, decorated stylishly and a self-service bar provided a plethora of refreshments for guests including specifically Welsh products. A Welsh Cider was particularly enjoyable and refreshing.
Breakfast was a very hearty full English breakfast for one of us, perfectly cooked and the Welsh Black Pudding was thoroughly enjoyed. One of us enjoyed the vegetarian options available. our breakfast views of velvety, emerald green mountains and sheep grazing was a perfect start to the day. A prolific amount of information and literature was available in our room about the region and our hosts were knowledgeable and helpful about things to do and sightseeing. Lorraine and Alex were helpful and available when needed but were never intrusive. We wouldn't hesitate choose this perfect haven retreat for our next visit to this beautiful area. Thank you Lorraine and Alex for an unforgettable stay.

We were made to feel so welcome at this wonderful guesthouse, nestled between the stunning mountainous backdrop of Snowdonia National Park. Knowing that we were about to have easily the best breakfast we could have imagined was the only way to stir us from gazing across the incredible view across the lake from the comfort of our huge bed. Our bathroom was immaculate and we were provided with divine L'occitane shower products. Alex and Lorraine clearly love what they do - the house has a very warm feeling and we were overwhelmed by their generosity. Thank you so much for our wonderful stay.

Alex and Lorraine should be incredibly proud of their business. Dolffanog Fawr is a gorgeous guest house furnished and equipped comfortably and tastefully. The breakfasts were delicious, home cooked with local produce. It's location, pretty much at the foot of Cader Idris and next to Tal-Y-Llyn lake, is jaw droppingly beautiful. I looked at the unpolluted sky at night and felt a peace I rarely feel! Oh, and the owners dogs, a pair of beautiful flat haired retrievers, are an added bonus! Thank you 😃

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful place for 2 nights early September. From the location to the building and it's surroundings could not fault anything.
The owners were so friendly and attentive, we had everything we needed and more to make this mini break away a lovely relaxing one. You can literally be as active or kick back and relax as you want. A little bonus too which we thoroughly enjoyed was the outdoor hot tub taking in the amazing views watching the sun go down.
We would recommend and would love to return in the future.

We came here for a couple of nights, mid-week short getaway. Our room was wonderful and very nicely decorated, had a very good choice of hot drinks and some shortbread in the room, everything was spotlessly clean and thoughtfully taken care of. The environment friendly toiletries were a refreshingly nice touch. Alex and Lorraine were lovely hosts, and gave us lots of tips on restaurants and things to do nearby. They really care for the place and their guests, which is obvious from their attention to detail and how well managed everything is. The breakfast was incredible, all ingredients are sourced locally and they also have vegan/veggie options if you ask for them. We would definitely recommend it and will come back for sure!

We were lucky to have a couple of nights here and we had a fabulous stay. The hosts are perfect and by that i mean they are very helpful, friendly, offer tips on the walks/area, but are not intrusive. Perfect hosts. The rooms are a delight. Very clean, very comfy bed, good shower, so quiet, good coffee in the room and amazing views .
We were lucky to have good weather and be able to enjoy a drink in the garden which has the most amazing views.
Then the food which was first rate, we also had 2 evening meals which were wonderful.
We couldnt have enjoyed it more. Thank you.

Lovely modern well presented king room with an amazing view to the mountains. Lorraine and Alex could not do enough for us. The breakfast was brilliant on the first day and Lorraine left us out a breakfast so we could make a super early start on the second morning. Home from home and very relaxing place to stay. Can't recommend enough.

We previously stayed at this superb B&B in 2019 and always vowed to return. Only the pandemic prevented us from returning sooner, but it was well worth the wait. If anything, the Dolffanog Fawr has got even better. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. Lorraine and Alex remain fantastic hosts. The breakfasts are simply superb, with a great choice and the location is simply to die for, with peace and quiet and scenic beauty all around you and yet you are within striking distance to amenities, the coast, etc. A truly winning formula.

Pontyclun, United Kingdom38 contributions33 helpful votesHi. Could you possibly tell me if you are open this Sat for 2-3 people for one night?
The food there is one of the best things about the place and I feel sure that a vegan diet could be catered for but better check this with the owners of the B+B - Alex and Lorraine. Regarding limited mobility, this might be a problem as I think all the rooms are upstairs. The attraction of the area is walking, or visiting local towns and villages, the beach and climbing the local mountain, all which may present a problem, not sure about this but again, talk to Alex before you go.
I just booked online because then you can pick the room you want.
