Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had the fish and chips. Very disappointing as the fish was very small and the batter was pale and rock hard. Plenty of chips though. But i pay £16 to get a decent sized piece of fish. I won't be going back.

Went for dinner with friends. did look a little dark from outside but inside was welcomed by lovely staff, nice decor. Its not the cheapest, but you pay for what you get. I had fish and triple cooked chips.. others had pizza staff very attentive.

We had lunch here recently and noticed that we had to put our car registration number into the machine in the pub, which we did. I have now received a parking fine of £100 saying I “failed to obtain a permit.” I can only assume that either the machine in the pub is not working or else this is another scurrilous parking company. It’s no good the pub saying its nothing to do with them as it’s their car park and they choose who to manage it. So…I suggest people avoid this place like the plague. Be warned that even if you do what the signs ask you may well end up with a fine.

Fantastic little find near the ferry terminal. Breakfast was amazing. Thank you so much for your frendly service. Will definitely be visiting again. One of the best breakfast I've had and a great start to our trip home.

We have visited this pub several times and never had a bad meal until now. I ordered the mature wookey hole cheese and chutney rarebit with fries. I didn't want fries so asked if I could have crisps instead and was told they had no crisps. I was served soggy bread with a revolting topping and there was no chutney. I couldn't eat it and sent it back. I was offered something else but declined and ordered peanuts instead. We were not charged for the rarebit or the peanuts. My husband had the mushroom and aubergine risotto which he enjoyed. There were clear signs about the parking so we should not incur any parking fines as we gave our vehicle registration. We last visited this pub in July 23. I had ribeye steak and my husband had sea bass, both of our meals were delicious. What a disappointment my meal was today. We will not return.

This Inn is located within 100 metres of the Wightlink ferry terminal at Fishbourne. The menu is varied and caters for all tastes. My roast beef Sunday lunch was delicious. The staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. I recommend the Fishbourne Inn if you are in the area.

£16.50 for fish and chips and I received the smallest fillet of fish I have ever been served. I nearly complained about it there and then but it was a family outing and I didn't want to create an atmosphere. The waitress was pleasant and efficient.

We stopped off at the Fishbourne Inn before our ferry crossing, not really expecting that much. Well, what a surprise! Sitting in the lovely garden area in the sunshine, we were treated to good service by very friendly staff, and had some excellent fish and chips. The food was well presented, piping hot, and very tasty. All at a very reasonable price. An unexpectedly delicious end to our stay on the island.

We had the pleasure of eating at The Fishbourne Inn last night and the food is of the highest quality and plentiful. I struggle to understand certain negative reviews about the Fishbourne Inn because it oozes quality from the food, staff and its location. We both opted for the fish and chips - the very best we have eaten. Those that moan about pricing I would suggest probably can't afford to eat here and those that moan about parking I would suggest a highway code refresh as part of having a licence requires the ability to read signs. Many thanks to all of the very friendly staff we had a great evening - all of you make The Fishbourne what it is.

We’ve lived on the island for many years and have dined at the Fishbourne Inn satisfactorily on at least half a dozen occasions, Today we decided to have a light lunch with our friends before they returned to the mainland. What a mistake! The car park. Neither adequate instructions nor guidance were provided relating to the strict car parking conditions and penalties which have been introduced since our last visit. In another recent review on Trip Advisor, the manager appeared to justify imposing these draconian parking penalties on genuine customers even though like us they don’t appear to have been properly informed of the consequences by staff. My friend, who had also parked his car in the pub car park had completely missed the notices because he entered through a door which did not display a nearby warning notice, and was also not told of the consequences. Without my intervention, he would have incurred the parking penalty. Eating at the Fishbourne Prices were exorbitant and apart from £11 sandwiches, which did in truth come with a reasonably-sized bowl of French fries, the only small meals were from the children’s menu. We were initially prohibited from choosing them because we were too old! Following a lively discussion with the chef, the restaurant manager was granted permission to serve my wife and I with the culinary delight of two children’s meals! My £10 meal consisted of two 3-inch chicken nuggets, 13 skinny fries and a small ramekin of mayonnaise. My wife’s £11 fish and chips meal consisted of a 5-inch slab of batter with one minuscule finger of white fish inside, accompanied by 5 small chunky chips and a large bowl of tartare sauce. To be fair, we were warned that these meals would be very small! They certainly were! Finally, does a half pint glass of orange juice and lemonade at £5.10 sound good value? In summary. For us … an unfortunate experience not to be repeated…for the pub, please improve your hospitality and welcoming skills and re-examine your pricing policy. To spend £11 on a meal hardly adequate for a 5-year old highlights the lack of value and might well be described as a rip-off. Not sure what our 11 year old strapping grandson would have made of it….
