Detailed Reviews
Just returned from a pleasant stay at this hotel.
Felt very welcomed on arrival. Room was of a high quality, with the most incredible spa bath, which was very much needed after miles of walking! The room also had 2 lovely arm chairs, which meant that you could actually relax in the room and not just use it for sleeping.
We had breakfast and dinner booked, for which you must order the night before (breakfast) and an hour before eating at dinner. No problem with this, but the dining room was very quiet at dinner, so perhaps not needed?
Food was of a good standard in the evening, and breakfast was great!
Few small things to consider: the toilet roll holder is nowhere near the toilet in the bathroom and the vanity table could of done with a clean underneath the glass as it was quite dirty (room 12).
Would stay here again if we were to visit the New Forest.

A group car club weekend away - bringing vintage cars to the New Forest and a number were trailered to the Hotel.
Parking is available for 19 vehicles, i.e. one car per room, but with trailers, much more space is needed. The staff bent over backwards to ensure that there was adequate parking, including using the neighbour's grassed forecourt (which made a superb backdrop for the vintage cars!), so we were accommodated, as well as the other guests.
The food was excellent, the menu was the same every day and the kitchen liked the food to be pre-ordered for both dinner & breakfast, which was fine.
One of the group needed easy access and had special needs, the couple felt if they asked for breakfast in bed they would have got it!
Staff were very friendly and welcoming, nothing seemed to be too much trouble.

We thoroughly enjoyed a weekend break with family celebrating a couple of birthdays. Having communicated with the hotel prior to arrival, they were very accommodating with a couple of requests. Check in was very efficient. We had reserved four rooms, each one very clean and comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities and a hairdryer. The service in the bar was very relaxed and friendly. Breakfast was very good, pre ordering your choices the night before, the food arrived hot and we were offered plenty of top up hot drinks. The location of the hotel is very good and was quiet, a five minute walk in to the centre of Lyndhurst and just across the road from an entrance in to the New Forest. Car parking is included at the front of the hotel. All staff we met were very friendly and made us feel welcome.
We will definitely be visiting again.

We spent one night at this hotel, also taking breakfast and dinner in our package. We were given a large, dog-friendly room with a lovely double spa bath and comfortable sofa. Nice and warm, comfortable bed and pillows. It was my birthday and the staff kindly remembered this and decorated our room, as well as offering us complimentary drinks at dinner. This hotel is run by a very dedicated family who clearly put their hearts into the business, and it is very important to them that they please their guests. They certainly succeed in their mission to make people feel special. The food is of excellent quality and extremely well cooked. We especially enjoyed the Nepalese curry at dinner. Our only real disappointment was that internet quality was rather poor, also meaning that the Smart TV suffered. However, we would still happily return in the future, and we recommend this hotel for the personal touch.

We had a lovely mini break at this delightful hotel. Our room was clean, spacious and well equipped. We had booked bed, breakfast and evening meal for our 3 night stay and we were not disappointed with the quality and quantity of the food provided. This hotel is in a great location at the end of Lyndhurst high street and many New Forest attractions are within easy reach. We had taken our dog with us on this visit and the hotel made us all feel very welcome.

We stayed here mid week in February ‘23 and we couldn’t have had a nicer stay. We arrived earlier than the 3pm check in and there was no issues leaving our car in the car park to go walking in the New Forest. With walks just across the road this hotel is in a perfect location. It is also a 5 minute walk to the start of Lyndhurst High Street which has plenty of tea shops and pubs to visit too.
When booking I had let the lady know that we would have our dog with us. This wasn’t a problem when we booked and it certainly wasn’t a problem when we arrived, we were all made very welcome, humans and dog alike.
The room we had been given was on the ground floor and it had a door straight out of the room into a corner of the garden which was perfect for our dogs last wee at night and first thing in the morning.
We stayed on a half board basis, lots of lovely English dishes on the evening menu to choose from but knowing that there was a Nepalese chef we chose the Nepalese curries and we weren’t disappointed, such lovely flavours. Breakfast in the morning was also very nice and all freshly cooked. There were several different breakfasts available but we both chose a full English which was great. All the owners ask is for your breakfast choices and a rough time the night before, not an issue and it meant we didn’t wait long in the morning.
The people running this hotel can’t do enough for you, nothing is a problem.
Our room was spotless and the bed very comfy.
I wanted to keep this review short but there are so many good things to say it’s proved hard to!
Thank you for a lovely stay, Gem the whippet did not want to leave and to be honest we didn’t either! We hope to return in the not too distant future.

We stayed here for one night on our way to the Isle of Wight and booked Room 1 which is classed as a budget room - however it was actually quite roomy, beautifully clean with a lovely shower, toiletries and hairdryer. The bed was lovely and comfy too. Breakfast was delicious and the staff are really lovely. Although we went out for dinner, the evening meal smelt absolutely delicious and the next time we stay here we will definitely have a meal here.

We booked this place as it’s in Lyndhurst and that’s where we wanted to be. Strangely my parents had spent their honeymoon night there 55 years ago - gotta be worth a try…
Quirky…. If my parents had been able to go back I’m not sure much would have changed. It’s obviously grown in size but it’s a strange place.
We arrived and were met by a really lovely young lady who, when she explained our room was up two flights of steep stairs (and saw the look of horror on mine - and my husbands face!!) offered to carry our bags (our bags were bigger than her!) but the thought was there. Anyway, we made it up the steep stairs to our room - which was actually quite nice - up in the top of the house but pleasant enough. The bed is very comfortable, there is a decent size sofa and the shower had loads of power. So, fundamentally it’s all good. Just a bit dingy…needs some TLC.
There is a restaurant (with a limited menu) and breakfast has to be ordered the night before. We both had a full English which was nice but VERY salty (especially the mushrooms) there are other options, haddock and egg, waffle and yoghurt but no simple options like toast and jam or bacon/sausage sandwiches. No such as cereal etc and no juice - just weak squash.
I was disappointed to not have my room made up (we stayed two nights) and when fed back to the manager he said most customers don’t like it.
Would I stay here again? I don’t think so - the price is really only justified by its good position into Lyndhurst.

Dear guest, We are sorry to hear that your stay was not perfect. We will look into these things, however I would like to add that toast and jam/ marmalade comes along with all breakfasts anyway, so if you would like it alone we would be happy to accommodate for this of course! All of our cereal and juices are available to guests as well, we just need to be asked about this, or made aware - and we can happily provide this for you. Each guest staying in the hotel is advised - on check in - to read the green guest book in their rooms, in here it states that anyone is welcome to a room service and we can provide this but please let us know when you would like housekeeping to come around, as some guests prefer not to have their room cleaned. We are sorry that you may not return in the future but we hope that one day we can welcome you again! Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. Kind regards, Ormonde house hotel

We visited this hotel as part of a small group for my father's 60th birthday. The check-in went very smoothly as we had pre-paid and we got directed straight to our room by Raj who couldn't do enough to help you. The room was unexpectedly large and freshly renovated. The bathroom was also bigger than expected and the shower was huge! The bed was very comfortable and the blinds/curtains were nearly blackout so we got a very good night sleep. You pre-order breakfast the night before and the food was excellent, hot and at the time you booked it! Their dining staff were very pleasant and always had a smile and were checking all was well. The location of the hotel is great for Beaulieu Motor Museum, a short walk into Lyndhurst where there were a number of nice restaurants and small shops. It was also just a short drive to the beach as well.
Overall, a great stay and we would definitely go back and could probably fill a week with things to do nearby.

I along with my family recently stayed at Ormonde House Hotel in Lyndhurst and had a wonderful experience. This was my second time staying here, came back because loved this place when we first stayed here 2 years ago. The hotel is charming and beautifully maintained, with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure that all our needs were met promptly. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the heart of Lyndhurst and the New Forest, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.
The food at Ormonde House Hotel was another highlight of our stay. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast each morning, with a good variety of options to choose from. The restaurant also offered excellent dinner options, featuring locally sourced ingredients and flavorful dishes. My dad and mum especially appreciated the peaceful garden area, where we could unwind after a day of sightseeing. Overall, our stay at Ormonde House Hotel exceeded our expectations, and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Lyndhurst.
