We have just got back from a lovely long weekend staying at Rufus House. The hosts couldn’t have been more welcoming or accommodating, soo friendly and genuinely thankful for our custom.

Breakfast was pre-ordered due to COVID which was absolutely fine, timed to perfection and tasted amazing!
The room itself was lovely, immaculately clean, with everything we needed. We also had a little fridge with bottled water, soft drinks and wine glasses which was such a lovely touch!

The owners don’t come into the room during your stay due to coronavirus therefore your towels aren’t changed which is something to bear in mind but not a problem for us.

Location was a opposite a little gate straight into the new forest, and a very short 5 minute walk into Lyndhurst town itself which was full of lovely little pubs, restaurants and shops.

Whenever we re-visit the new forest again we will be sure to stay at Rufus House again, we can not fault it and loved every minute

Thank you SO much

We had a very nice stay at Rufus House in the heart of the New Forest. It is situated on the A35 but our room at the rear of the property was extremely quiet. It is an unusual building with plenty of character and our room was quite large, with a small settee and comfortable bed. The shower room was fine and everything was spotless throughout. The hosts were delightful and looked after us really well and produced a fine breakfast. We were impressed with the precautions they are taking regarding Covid, which meant that we felt very safe. We highly recommend this establishment and we would be more than happy to stay here again.

The booking was simplicity itself and a courteous and informative email was received within minutes of the deposit payment. On our arrival we were greeted by Etsuko who did everything necessary to make us feel welcome and valued. Our room, facing the garden at the back of the house, was beautifully clean and equipped to a high standard. The breakfast was fine and delivered with grace and efficiency. Ernesto and Etsuko are charming hosts and, with the position of Rufus House so close to Lyndhurst's centre, I have no hesitation in recommending this guest house for a stay any time of the year, even in cold and damp January!

My wife and I have just had a great week at the Rufus. The hotel itself is comfortable and clean and the breakfast is great.
The owners were two lovely people who always had time for their guests and they had a wide knowledge of the local area, which is great for walking.

Friendly staff on arrival. Nice clean rooms. Fair price for location.
My only criticism is that we were there for 3 nights and didn't see a soul to ask for help. No one came to our room to change towels or bring fresh coffee the whole time we were there. Disappointing.

Spent an enjoyed 5 days in the New Forest stopping at the Rufus House hotel. Delightful hosts and made to feel very much at home. The hotel is based just a few minutes walk away from the lovely high street in Lyndhurst.
Thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast each morning and fairly spacious room.

We stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday. A lovely room at the back with great views of the forest. Hosts were friendly and very welcoming. When it became obvious to them that it was my birthday a small gift was left outside our door. Would definitely stay here again. Well worth the 4 star rating

Ernesto makes Rufus House what it is, he is passionate, as all Italians are, and ensures you are looked after. The house is a big old place and the rooms are a little tired, but clean with comfortable bed. The breakfast is awesome, the full English and toast and honey, lovely. The car parking can be busy and found ourselves parked on the road one night, which was a little disappointing. Overall, a lovely stay and made getting around the New Forest easy due to being central.

Lovely big house with cosy bedrooms and by pleasant hosts. I was at the top of the house and had a lovely view. Tea / coffee and water available in room. Would recommend to anyone visiting the New Forest.

My husband and I have just returned from a 3 night break at the Rufus House. It was lovely a real home from home. Breakfast was hearty with a good choice too. The staff were unobtrusive and yet very helpful.

Will definately re-visit Rufus House. Highly recommended.

Breakfast is not automatically included in the booking/price of a room. We wanted to leave early, so did not pay for breakfast as they don't start serving until 8.
