Detailed Reviews
We enjoyed a wonderful Turkey roast here, seasonal veg, crispy tasty roast potatoes. Well done Chef ! The cheesecake was divine too. The pub wasn't noisy with loud music, so you could hold a conversation without shouting. The staff were polite & helpful & best of all they didn't come over as you were eating to ask how the food was. Will be returning here in the future.

Good atmosphere. Wide selection of ciders. Good Menu, that caters for dairy and gluten free. Accommodated a party of 12 for a birthday celebration Food all came out together. Dog friendly, free dog treats. Big garden if you wish to eat outside.

Lovely pub garden, friendly and attentive staff who take allergies seriously and also provide multiple options for people with allergies. They are also dog friendly. Food was tasty, atmosphere was welcoming and the location is right on the edge of the forest so perfect for lunch or dinner after a walk. I highly recommend

Tried The New Forest Inn as somewhere new for a Sunday Roast.
The pub was fine but disappointed with the lack of meat on the plate (2 small slices) for a dinner that cost over £20.The majority of the plate was made up vegetables and over roasted potatoes.
Service was slow.
There are much better options for Sunday roast in the Forest.

It's Sunday around 2PM, and we have just arrived at this inn (it's a pub with rooms), looking for a drink, and maybe lunch, after a 5 mile walk around the local deer sanctuary. We are parched and dying for a refreshing drink.
The bar was empty, except for a barmaid who had just finished settling a parting customer's bill (she short-charged him by over 7 pounds but didn't know what to do, neither did the supervisor, so they just let the customer drive off...).
Four or five other staff were milling around, looking busy. But can we get a drink? No.
After waiting at the bar for about 5 minutes, we are advised that we do need to sit at a table and our drinks order will be taken and served there. It's a pub, but we cannot order drinks at the bar.
It took 15 minutes to serve us 2 drinks. In an otherwise empty pub.
Note to the owners: What is your purpose in life? It's time to get bar staff in that want to serve customers.

Go to The New Forest Inn quite a bit. Certainly more than any other pub in The Forest. Never had an issue before.
Arrived without a booking and asked to sit in the new conservatory, fine, a bit cold and no atmosphere/background music. Was sitting for about 10 minutes before a wacker plate started in the garden (garden renovations ongoing). Asked to move back into the main pub and was placed in The Snug area. Again fine.
Food came out, dry, thin slice of stuffed rolled pork, mediocre at best really. They had run out of Lamb leg steak (even though it was only middayish on Saturday) So I went for lamb liver, dry and powdery texture.
Time to pay and go only to find the ceiling had been dripping water from the room above onto our coats. Finished drinks at the bar. Didn’t do the British thing and say nothing this time - actually asked for money off - Manager agreed to give us a whopping 10% reduction for the food and soaked clothes - £4.50!
Don’t think we’ll be back for a while.
I do have to say this is very unusual. Never been disappointed before but maybe time to try other establishments.

GRIM !
we went for food, which we sent back as it was cold and then sent back again as it ws still Tepid. To be fair the manager and barmaid were very courteous and apologetic and refunded the price of one of the meal. Chicken as well as cold was like rubber, my spicy rice thing was grim. Would never eat there again, to be generous it does advertise home made food not HOT home maid food.

We booked for lunch here and we’re not disappointed!
Friendly staff and lovely food.
It was so nice to go somewhere that offers more than a vegetarian burger or lasagne for vegetarian. My mum and my husband also had amazing meals.
We sat outside, the garden is large and the Flowers are beautiful. My only negative is that the tables were sticky, old and battered which was a little off putting. Either table cloths or some new tables and chairs would make a massive difference.
We will definitely return. Thank you

I highly recommend The New Forest Inn. We stayed for two nights and loved every minute. The location is just on the outskirts of Lyndhurst in an area called Emery Down. Providing you are fit and able, you can walk into Lyndhurst. There is free car parking at the NFI. The staff are exceptionally pleasant and helpful and cannot do enough to make you feel welcome. A special shout out to Verity, Hannah and Reg, who were so attentive, warm and friendly.
Other big stars of the NFI are the chefs, who cook the most amazing dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, using locally sourced ingredients. There is a good selection of wines too.
There are only four rooms in the NFI and we stayed in room 2, which is a twin bedded room. Our room was very comfortable and clean, with tea and coffee facilities.
I will definitely return!

Visited the New Forest Inn for Sunday roast as we were down for a weekend away. I’d pre-booked via e mail and explained that we had 4 dogs and would prefer to be in an area away from others if possible. On turning up we initially realised that the area was not suitable and so were shown a room at the back, however this was not suitable either (for small dogs it would have been fine). Eventually we found that the garden area, which was empty would be perfect (thankfully it wasn’t raining). We all had roast dinners, which were lovely. I had the vegetable wellington, best I’ve had, my only thought was that I should have asked for gravy on the side. Staff were attentive, didn’t think prices were inflated, pub had good vibe inside and it’s obviously very popular. Definitely would return.
