Bed was huge and so comfy!
Tea and coffee and biscuits provided and refilled the following morning.
Discovered Aircon didn't work but it wasn't massively hot so just had the window open. We were overlooking the back garden/marque and there were events on both evenings which we could hear from our room but all finished by about 10 ish so didn't bother us.
Shower was good and whilst I would prefer a shower head that is not fixed to the wall I was able to shower with no issues.
Breakfast was amazing although there was a large dog in there both mornings (believe he was something to do with the hotel as the dog and the owner went through an internal door). For me I wasn't keen of this large dog walking between the tables but others adored him so I only mention it so this review is fair and accurate.
Staff all friendly, check in and check out was easy.
Would stay again if I ever needed to be in Eastleigh.
We thought the whole room was dingy and you needed to have lights on the whole time - our view was out onto the car park, which was fine but made it quite noisy in the morning.
Breakfast was a short walk in the Mouldy Fig and was really delicious. We asked to have a large table as we were staying as a group but instead of happily agreeing with this, we were asked twice whether everybody would be coming to breakfast as they were fully booked and would be very busy! Not very welcoming! Interestingly, the restaurant remained half empty the whole time we were there.
The hotel definitely needs a massive refurbishment as it is in a great location joined to the popular Concorde Club.
Dinner & Dance. 100% disappointing.
Cold all evening, Door would not shut properly so got even colder.
Greeted by no table service need to que at bar in marquee to get drinks.
On table glass wine glasses. Paid over £23 bottle poor quality wine. Told to use the plastic glasses given at bar.
Table crackers poor no gift of any kind cheep and nasty.
Food very poor one course very quick after another.
Xmas dinner
Potatoes like bullets, Parsnips could not even cut. Carrots & Sprouts so unapitising white bowl no garnish. Gravy insipid and thin. So little poured over lukewarm warm turkey.
Desert very budget.
So cold.
Toilets i have camped and used better.dusgusting.
As I arrived I used toilets and the hand towel was 2 toilet rolls supplied.
Take that poor on for 1 hour till 10.10pm. Made clear to leave after that as place being packed up.
Elf so embarrassing bouncing around. Even a 5 year old would have cringed.
One of the worst evenings out at £45 a head.
Never never again.
The room smelled musty.
The pub restaurant also smelled and was offering tomato soup as a special on the Saturday night we were there.
We paid £335 but were promptly told that we must be out of the restaurant by 7 pm due to a function, giving us 30 mins to eat food that had not been ordered. The Assistant Manager told us we would be escorted out at 7, or we could leave now. We left the hotel.
The room was perfectly adequate, clean and comfortable although we did find the three-quarter size bed a bit small.
Part of the same operation is The Concorde Club, which we discovered is an amazing and legendary music venue. In fact they were gearing up for a big weekend of music the day we were there. The restaurant and bar is called The Moldy Fig. I had a lovely rib-eye steak and couldn't fault it.
Inside the restaurant and bar are pictures of many very famous artists who have played there over the years.. from Alan Price to Stephan Grappelli. I noted that each piece of background music being played had been carefully chosen to reflect artists who have played there.. a really nice touch
I also had the privilege of meeting the founder and owner of the whole shebang Mr Cole Mathieson. A charming and modest man. That certainly made my evening!
We've decided that we will always be staying here before any early flights, but will book a garden room. Thanks to all the staff!
The price was spot on booked through booking.com would stay here again when visiting the isle of wight sailing from Southampton.
This hotel backs onto a country park, lovely leg stretch morning or afternoon.
Overall not the standard we expected of this rating of hotel and we won’t stay again.
